Chapter 333

Judy’s POV

“Breathe, Judy,” Eliza said, putting her hands on my chest. “Take a deep breath with me.” She made a show of breathing in, and I tried to mimic her movements, but the air wouldn’t come into my lungs.

I struggled for breath, my heart racing as my stomach ached. I felt my wolf stirring as panic struck her as well. Both heart monitors were going crazy; hearing my baby's heart monitor beeping as well brought me back to the present moment, and I knew I needed to get things under control.

“Deep breath,” she said again, calmly this time.

I took a deep and slow breath, breathing out shakily.

“Good,” she said softly. “Again.” She made another show of breathing in and out, and I did the same thing, less shaky this time. The monitors slowed down, and I felt my body relaxing.

“Somebody tried to kill my baby…” I whispered, my eyes glistening with tears.

She had a concerned look on her face as she sat in the chair by my bedside.

“Taylor is going to do everything he can to make sure whoever was the mastermind of this pays,” she assured me. “The doctors who assisted you earlier are being rounded up. This hospital is pretty much on lockdown along with all surrounding packs, so nobody is leaving or entering without Gavin and Taylor knowing about it. You have nothing to worry about. I arrived just in time… the second I got word that you were brought here, I rushed over. I’m not going to let anyone hurt you or your baby. You have my word, Luna.”

I stared at her, feeling relieved that she was there with me and a little flustered that she titled me a Luna before it was made official. Seeing the look on my face, she smirked.

“I see your mark,” she told me, her eyes shifting to my neck. I reached up and touched the mark that Gavin made on my neck, and my cheeks flushed. I almost forgot about it until she mentioned it. Regardless of whether you had the ceremony or not… You are my Luna, and I’m proud to serve you as your female Beta and your doctor. So, let me take care of you.”

I nodded without hesitation.

“Thank you,” I whispered, my voice coming out hoarse.

“No need to thank me,” she assured me. “I had one of my trusted subordinates speak with Gavin and your family to let them know that you and the baby are okay. I told him to tell them that it’s not the best time for a visit just yet, though, because I wanted you and your wolf to rest a bit longer. I wanted to make sure that you were in the clear of the danger zone before any disruptions.”

“I want to see my mate,” I told her. “I miss him and I need to make sure he’s okay.”

She nodded.

“He’s investigating the staff in the hospital. Taylor already told him about the details of what had happened, and he’s furious. I’m sure he’s most likely blocking you from feeling what he’s feeling right now.”

Now that she mentioned it, I wasn’t able to feel his emotions before. It started after I woke up from my nap a few minutes ago. When I fell asleep, I felt his worry for me. But now I felt nothing. My stomach twisted as I looked up at her.

“Is he okay?” I asked.

She nodded.

“He’s furious,” she told me. “He’s looking into this now. He knows that Alpha Levi has to do with this. Taylor is in the process of gathering evidence; there was so much damage done to the pack that Gavin had no idea about, and it was all because of Alpha Levi. He hacked into the system and leaked important information that could destroy Gavin’s company. Most everything else was just a distraction, and it seemed to have worked for a little while, but my mate is smart and caught on. Levi wants his pack to be the best, so he’s trying to build an empire as strong as Gavin's. So, he stole all the information that he could to make that happen, and now he’s busy trying to destroy Gavin’s territory from the inside. Everything that happened at the Redcliff pack was just a distraction.”

I was being used this entire time?

Levi never wanted me in his territory?

He never thought I’d be a good gamma warrior?

I was nothing more than a distraction that Levi exploited.

“I’m sorry; I probably shouldn’t have told you that right now,” she said, sighing. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around it myself. Taylor had caught onto it while Gavin was distracted with you, and they are in the process of putting a stop to it. We have hackers on the inside who put a block on the security and the important data that has been leaked. It was traced back to Levi’s computer system. The data is being exported, and it’s being used as proof of deception. Gavin is trying to get him removed as chairman.”

“That’s a lot,” I told her.

She nodded.

“A lot has happened in the 12 hours you’ve been here.”

“12 hours?!” I gasped. “I’ve been here for that long?? What about the battle that took place in the Redmoon pack? What about my father? My mother? Is everyone okay?? How had I not known it’s been that long?!”

“Yes, you fell asleep, and I didn’t want to wake you. The Moonshade took a lot out of you. I did a ton more testing and cleared up your system. I kept monitoring you and your baby for the last several hours. Gavin insisted on seeing you earlier, so I allowed him entry… not that I could stop him. He spent a bit of time with you while you slept, and he was here when all your results came back. That’s when he rounded up the hospital staff and sent them away to be questioned. Now he’s dealing with the Levi thing with Taylor and will be back later. I told him that you’d need time to rest and recover before you have visitors. As for your mother… she’s fine. She’s with your father, and he’s doing much better. He had to have surgery to remove a hidden bullet, but he survived and now he’s recovering quickly. The battle had been won… most rogues died, some fled. The remaining rogues have been rounded up for questioning.”

This was so much information that my head was rattling. I had missed so much; I couldn’t believe that Gavin was in this room, and I was asleep the entire time. Tears filled my eyes; I missed him so much. Knowing that it’s been over 12 hours since I last saw him… my heart ached, and my wolf whimpered.

Seeing the sad look on my face, Eliza put a hand on my shoulder and gave me a gentle squeeze.

“He’ll be back soon, and once he returns, he’s not going to let you out of his sight again,” she assured me. “You have nothing to worry about. Just get some more rest for both you and your baby.”

I nodded, trying to relax, but my mind was whirling.

“Eliza…” I said before she could leave. She paused and turned to look at me. “Thank you.”

Third Person POV

Alpha Levi paced back and forth in his office, fury rolling off him in waves. Beta Ron stepped into his office, his face drained of color.

“How are they all not dead yet??” Levi growled. “Did someone tip them off that the rogues were coming with weapons??”

He was confused because he had spent so long hacking into their system and shutting down their security. He knew that they had all gathered in the Redmoon pack for some party, and that was the perfect opportunity to eliminate two packs at once.

“No, but we seemed to have underestimated Gavin’s strength… even without the Moon Gem,” Ron said, shaking his head. “He doesn’t even have his full strength, and yet he still managed to beat the rogues… weapons and all. This wasn’t enough to eliminate him or his packmates.”

Levi growled furiously. His plans were starting to crumble around him. At least a part of his plans were. The rest were still unfolding, and the thought sent a thrill through Levi’s body. He needed to brush off the fact that some of his plans had failed and focus on his future plans.

He now had the information he needed to grow his own empire. The data had been transferred. Soon, he would be able to transfer all of Gavin’s funding into his own account and have the money to expand his empire as well. The only thing left was the Moon Gem. He convinced Daisy Baldwin to steal the Moon Gem from Donna Landry and auction it off.

Of course, it cost him a pretty penny along with a favor that Levi was glad to oblige.

He was going to use Gavin’s funding, the one that he stole, to purchase the gem. He knew that Gavin would get word that the gem was being auctioned and that he’d try to get it back. Levi was looking forward to humiliating Gavin… he was planning on draining Gavin’s accounts entirely so he wouldn’t be able to afford the gem. Once Levi got the gem and embarrassed Gavin in the process, he would have all the power.
