Chapter 349
Judy’s POV
“Matt, go and get your shoes on!” I say as I walk past his bedroom door.
My excitement was evident in my tone as I made my way down the stairs, smiling at Irene as I reached the bottom step.
“I’ll go make sure he’s getting his shoes on,” Irene said as she walked past me.
“Thanks,” I say. “We have to get going soon. I don’t want to be late.”
“Nan will understand if we are a few minutes late. It didn’t help that you had morning sickness literally all morning.”
This pregnancy was seriously getting to me; I was a little over 4 months pregnant, and I was already feeling the toll of this baby. I stared down at my small bump and sighed.
“Are you ever going to let me eat food again?” I asked my unborn baby.
“Talking to the baby again? You know it can’t hear you right?” Gavin said, walking around the corner with a smirk.
I roll my eyes at him.
“You don’t know that. She could be listening right now,” I said, closing the small gap between us so I could kiss him.
“She?”
I shrugged.
“I think we are having a girl,” I say with a slight smile tugging at the corner of my lips.
“And if we are having a boy?”
“I’ll love him just as much,” I reply.
He kisses me again, and just as he was about to deepen it…
“Ew, get a room,” Matt said as he walked down the stairs, followed by Irene, who was laughing.
“Oh, you’ll understand one day, little man,” Irene said, rubbing his head playfully.
“Doubt it,” Matt said, crinkling his nose. “Kissing is gross.”
“Says an 8-year-old,” Irene retorted. “But when you turn into a teenager, you’ll want to kiss all the pretty girls.” She mocks kissing noises, making his crinkle his nose even more. I laughed at their dynamics; I was glad to hear them bickering like real siblings again. For a while, Matt and Irene actively avoided one another since Irene moved back into the villa, but now they are getting their relationship back, and it warmed my heart to see it.
“Are we finally ready?” Gavin asked, looking between his children and then at me.
“Yes,” I told him, smiling.
I was excited. Tonight was Nan’s big break… she was opening her very first resteraunt in the Silver Crescent pack, with the support of Delta Patrick Carter and course, Gavin. She had been working tirelessly since her wedding last month, since Delta Carter presented his sponsorship as a wedding gift.
She had been a chaotic mess since returning from her honeymoon and Chester had taken some time off from his job at the mansion to help her make her dreams a reality.
It was opening night for her; she spent weeks training a staff and putting everything up today, and now it was finally time to showcase all her hard work.
The restaurant featured all of Nan’s best dishes that she’s created herself over the years.
I was excited to watch my best friend blossom into the woman she was meant to be, with her mate by her side.
Most of the place will be filled with friends and family, and a few pack members who want to show their support.
Sampson and Lucy were also going to be there because Nan was one of theirs, and Lucy and Nan became friends since the wedding.
After piling into the car, Gavin drove us through the pack until we reached the gorgeous building with the large sign that read: Howling Spoon.
I smiled at the name that Nan chose for her restaurant.
It was a small place, but it was completely Nan. The outside seating hadn’t quite been set up yet, but once it is set up, it’ll have a nice view of the packlands, especially the nightlife.
I could see inside from the large floor-to-ceiling windows, which remained curtainless for right now.
Nan was seated inside, speaking to Sampson and Lucy. She had a kind smile on her face, but I could tell from her eyes she was nervous.
We weren’t the first to arrive, but as soon as we got there, others started to pile in as well, making the place look lively and packed.
Nan’s eyes grew wide when she saw the crowd of familiar faces, all there to support her.
Chester came out from the kitchen, his eyes also darting around at the crowd of people, and then he looked at Nan, his gaze softening and a loving expression taking over.
Nan’s gaze shifted and met mine, and then I saw her body relaxing as she excused herself from her current conversation to greet me.
“You made it,” she said, throwing her arms around me.
We’ve both been so busy this past month that we hardly saw each other. It was nice being back with my best friend; it was like no time had come between us.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” I told her. “This place looks incredible, Nan. You’ve really outdone yourself.”
“I am really proud of how it looks,” she admitted. “I’m just hoping the food tastes just as good.”
“Your cooking is incredible, Nan. Your recipes are to die for. I trust that everybody here will love it,” I assured her. “Plus, you have Chester with you, and he’s like a genius chef. You have nothing to worry about.”
She beamed at the compliment.
She glanced over my shoulder to see Gavin, along with Irene, who waved at her, and Matt, who was busy staring at the fish in the giant center fish tank.
“Your little family is looking happy,” she said with a smile. “I’m really happy for you, Judy.”
I look over my shoulder, and my eyes find Gavin’s. He smirks at me, making my heart skip a beat.
“I’m happy too,” I admit.
“Let me see your ring again,” Nan said, grabbing my hand.
I chuckled as she took in the gorgeous diamond ring that sat on my finger. It was more beautiful every time I looked at it, and it was completely and utterly Gavin. I was so happy that I could burst.
“It’s so pretty,” she breathed. “Gavin has such amazing taste.”
“Yes, he does,” I agreed. “It still doesn’t feel real. I can’t believe I’m actually getting married to Gavin Landry.”
“Believe it! You deserve it,” she said, wrapping me back in her arms.
“Nan, we are almost ready. Hey, Judy,” Chester said, coming up behind Nan, who released her hold on me.
“Hey,” I said with a smile.
“We have your table ready, by the way. You are at a VIP table,” Nan said, smiling at me.
She motioned for me to follow after her, so I did. Gavin and the others followed as well.
She brought us to a table with a gorgeous bouquet in the center. She left after we were seated at the table, and almost immediately, a young man approached and took our drink orders.
“Nan did such a good job,” Irene breathed. “It’s beautiful here.”
I nodded in agreement.
It was nice going out to dinner with the 4 of us, gathering to support my best friend. It was almost like we were a real family.
Our drinks came shortly after. And after glancing at the menu for a moment, I knew what I wanted to order. We put in our food orders and fell into a comfortable silence as we people-watched. Nan was running circles around the place, making sure everything was going smoothly.
Chester was in and out of the kitchen, making sure everything was being cooked to perfection.
When we received our orders, it smelled like heaven. My mouth watered at the sight, which was incredible because lately, food has been doing nothing but making me want to vomit. But this might be the first meal I’ve eaten in weeks that didn’t make me throw up.
I would have felt bad if I threw up in the middle of her opening night.
The food tasted incredible, and I ate it as if I had been starved.
Overall, opening night for the Howling Spoon was a success, and Nan looked more than happy by the end of the night.
She hugged everyone before they left, thanking them for their support.
“Today was amazing,” I told her as I hugged her. “I’m so proud of you.”
“I can’t believe I managed to pull this off,” she said, tears glistening in her eyes. “I couldn’t have done it without your support. Thank you so much.”
“You’re my best friend, Nan. I’ll always be here for you.”
“We should go through. It’s late and Matt has school in the morning,” Gavin said, putting a hand on the small of my back. “Congratulation’s Nan. I’ll be in touch with some business opportunities for you and your restaurant. The meal was incredible, and I can see it catering to important events.”
She beamed.
“Thank you, Alpha,” she said in awe.
He nodded, and after one last hug, we left.
The next day, Gavin and I went to the hospital for my 4-month ultrasound. Today was the day that we could finally see the gender of the baby, and we were thrilled.
Eliza set up the machine and did some quick work to make sure both me and the baby remained healthy. After clearing our health, she looked relaxed in her chair as she moved the wand around my protruding belly.
“Are you ready to hear the gender of your baby?” She asked, looking between us.
“Yes,” we both said at the same time.
Gavin entwined his fingers through mine, giving them a gentle squeeze, though his eyes remained on the monitor.
After a moment longer, Eliza smiled even wider before looking up at us.
“Congratulations on your future Alpha…”
