Chapter4 Defying Orders

Caius's expression remained calm, as if he had just been discussing the weather.

Linnea was about to cry from anger.

Since he had already planned to fire her, why did he still have heart-to-heart talks with her?

He was toying with her emotions, making her mistakenly think he already had some feelings for her. Did he want to see her look foolishly self-important? What awful sadistic amusement!

But she knew Caius would have no patience for an emotional woman.

After a brief loss of composure, Linnea forced herself to maintain calm on the surface. She tried to reason with her boss. "Caius, I obtained that position through fair selection. You have no right to fire me without reason."

"Isn't the reason sufficient?" Caius said in surprise. "My assistant secretary allowed an enemy to drug her boss while on duty, putting her boss in a dangerous situation..."

Linnea bit her lip tightly, refusing to admit it, but cold sweat of guilt appeared on her forehead.

Caius was even more pleased. "Not only that, this beautiful secretary who coveted her boss's body also tried to trick her boss into having sex with her while his mind was confused..."

"Hey!" Linnea cried out.

"Kitten, has anyone ever told you? Your face can't hide your thoughts." Caius laughed. He and Linnea were in the same covers, so he could easily pinch her flushed cheeks.

But Linnea dodged agilely and thought of a rebuttal.

"But I'm just an intern secretary. My daily work is helping the secretaries organize and deliver documents. Ensuring the CEO's personal safety isn't part of my job scope. If you want to hold someone accountable, you should first scold those silent bodyguards..."

"Besides, the job requirements for assistant secretary didn't include familiarity with nightclubs." She muttered again. "If someone was a straight A student in school and never went to nightclubs, they would never be exposed to such sleazy stuff."

Caius watched her defend herself. Her mouth was pressed tight from feeling wronged.

He had never seen this kind of girl. She wasn't very afraid of him and was still immersed in those ridiculous debates about right and wrong. How rare.

"You're very familiar with nightclubs?" He suddenly asked. "You're more fun-loving than I imagined."

This had nothing to do with the topic they were debating, but his attitude was so serious that Linnea didn't immediately notice anything wrong.

"In high school, I snuck into various bars and parties many times. But that was a long time ago. And what's wrong with being fun-loving?"

"Oh, I have no intention of criticizing your previous life. It's just that I'll be jealous and hate those men because they had the privilege of touching my... underground lover." Mentioning those last words, Caius found it inexplicably funny and shook his head. "If you want to protect those old flames of yours, you'd better not let me have any opportunity to know any information about them, including your private photo album. You'd better delete all those outrageous photos."

"That's my privacy!"

"But Linnea, you were just interrogating me about my privacy."

Linnea was confused by his words. "I don't have any old flames."

After her mother died, she had gone through a rebellious period. She skipped class, smoked, drank, and hung around various bars, nightclubs, and yacht parties. She was strikingly beautiful and charming. Whatever trendy activities everyone played, she could master them after just a few tries. She was the undisputed party princess, and countless men asked her for her contact information.

However, no man had ever gotten close to her heart. She coldly rejected everyone.

Her private photo album had no old flames at all, only her mother and herself.

"Alright." Having heard a satisfactory answer, Caius finally temporarily set aside his interest in teasing the cat. Like a heartless cat owner, he easily withdrew that cat teaser. "Let's not waste any more time. Please sign the termination letter. You've been an intern secretary for the company. You know how busy my workday is."

"Caius!" Linnea was completely ignited. She could no longer maintain composure. "Please give me a real reason!"

"Because I want to." Caius smiled coldly.

No. She couldn't be impulsive.

Linnea bit her teeth and showed a hurt expression. "Caius, are you firing me because I developed inappropriate personal feelings for you? But last night, you clearly initiated it... We had an intimate relationship. Don't you have any responsibility?"

"You were the one who offered yourself to my bed." Caius showed no mercy.

Under the covers, Linnea crumpled the termination letter in her hand even more, but squeezed out two drops of tears from her eyes. "Caius, do you really have no feelings for me at all? I don't believe it..."

She took the initiative to lean over and hug Caius's waist and abdomen.

The bulging muscles on his waist jumped against her palm.

She nestled in Caius's arms. This time, Caius didn't feel the wet heat of her tears. It seemed that compared to being abandoned by someone who had a crush on her, she was more afraid of death.

However, he was satisfied with Linnea's obedience.

"Alright, kitten, stop crying."

He was about to reach out his hand to stroke this little cat who had exhausted her energy in the early morning and had been continuously frightened this morning, and comfort her with the truth.

Suddenly, the sound of paper tearing came from behind him.

"What are you doing?"

He abruptly restrained Linnea's neck, turned around, and snatched back the termination letter.

Only half remained, along with an ugly tear mark.

The other half had been thrown to the floor by Linnea.

She suddenly bit down on the muscles at Caius's waist, broke free from him, and tried to grab his half. "I'm going to destroy it! I told you, I absolutely won't sign..."

The kitten that had just been kneading suddenly turned into a little lion.

How strange. Caius was amused to anger.

He suddenly gripped Linnea's wrist. His large palm clamped on it like red-hot iron tongs, the veins on the back of his hand bulging, making Linnea moan in pain. "Let go! Don't be so brutal!"

But Caius didn't listen and continued pulling her toward the floor. "Get out."

"Why?!"

Linnea panicked.

She absolutely couldn't be driven away like this. All her efforts would have been in vain!

"Because you're defying my orders." Caius smiled coldly. "Can't understand my words? Now, get out."

"But I can hear the bodyguards talking!" Linnea shouted. "I'm only wearing a nightgown!"

"Oh, so what does that have to do with me?"

"You're willing to let me be seen by others?"

"I don't keep disobedient cats."

With no other choice, to stay, Linnea could only throw out her last bargaining chip.

"If you make me leave right now, I'll post your mania weakness on the intelligence network. I think your enemies would be willing to pay a high price for this information!"

"You're threatening me?"

Caius curled his lips and laughed contemptuously.

He grabbed Linnea's hands and roughly pulled her out of the covers and off the bed. In the face of absolute strength, Linnea couldn't struggle at all. She was completely drained. The instant Caius let go, she was completely unprepared and missed her footing.

"Ah!"

As the world spun, she fell to the floor in an extremely miserable posture.

But the imagined pain of hitting the floor didn't come.

She fell onto Caius's chest, her full weight pressing down, yet he didn't even grunt.

Linnea instinctively tried to get up, but as soon as she moved, her whole body stiffened.

At this moment, they had both fallen to the floor, their bodies tightly pressed together.

And her buttocks were positioned right on top of Caius's... that thing.
