Chapter 1 001

Claire’s pov

I could feel my chest burning as my lungs were begging for air. Each time that I tried to breath, water surged in. Bitter and suffocating as it flooded through my throat.

I am going to die!

I am definitely going to die, this is what I wanted but why did it suddenly feel wrong to me. Maybe that is because I didn't stop to think about my mother, my father, Daisy, and even Mathew.

The fate of my entire family was in my hands now and I was going to give it out like that to death all because I didn't want to be sold to one of those monsters.

With each moment deep inside the water, sunlight looked farther away and with the pain, it was replaced with darkness.

My hair streamed around my face in tendrils, blinding me as I clawed at the water. Desperate, my heart racing in my ears, louder than any screams.

I was now fighting so hard to get off the water, but my body was slowly starting to betray me, my arms and legs heavy as they trembled.

“Is this how I am going to die? Daisy would have to take my place and Mathew would be forced to work in the fields, while my Dad's share would be cut off in the red council meeting and as for my mother, she would not be able to join the women in the festivals.

That was how badly my death was going to affect them. Getting sold to the monster wasn't just my fate, but that of my entire family.

Slowly, the water did no longer feel like an enemy, instead I felt light like something was pulling me to the surface and just like that, everything faded into the darkness.

I was woken up by what felt like a thick fog in my chest, I coughed out very loudly as water sprung out of my mouth, flooding my chest with air.

My eyes swirled open and Mathew was kneeling next to me, his eyes narrowed down to me with concern and sympathy in them.

“How are you feeling?” My mother was the first to ask as she rushed over to my side with a thick fur blanket and wrapped it around me.

Her eyes filled with warmth, she was the only one that would never judge me no matter the decision that I chose to take.

“You stupid girl! What were you thinking trying the commit suicide!” Dad's deep and masculine voice came through, his eyes burning in rage and he was almost ready to spranked me.

Daisy stood next to him, her thick red hair fell around her shoulders and that brown eyes of hers stared at me with nothing but hostility.

“Can you be any more loud? She almost lost her life just now and you still scold her?”

Mother called out to dad, her hands still wrapped around my back in a defending manner.

“Was I supposed to applaud her, dont you understand what is at risk right now and how all our lives would be ruined if she dies!”

“Mother, father is right. Claire knows how much pain our family will go through if anything was to happen to her and yet she was ready to take her life. She doesnt care about anyone else but herself” daisy sneered at me and even though i was two yers older, she didnt care about that since i was going to be offered to the monsteresn and once i did, they could all be happy.

“That is enough everyone, Claire still has been though alot, she needs some rest” she muttered and then turned her tender attention at me. “Go ahead insie, i will make some broth soup to help with the cold”

“I nodded my head, even though i wanted to smile at her words, i just couldnt.

My name is Cliare lockwood, i am the dqaughter of a farmer in scroft town. It was not just an ordinary tiown, its being controlled by the werewolves who seeemd to have sent every other supernaturals inbto extinct and the humans become their tool.

St every full moon, the first daughter from every families at Scroft is sold to a werewolf, no one knows what happens to them when they go there, because we never heard from anyone that left, most times the only news that returned to us was their death.

Tomorrow was the full moon and I would be eighteen years old, being a first daughter made my future determined from the first time that I was born and even know I knew that I would be sold to one of this monsters, I still had dreams that I wished I could fulfil.

I folded my legs around each other, the blanket still draped around my body while I say on the bed and Silas sat next to me.

His gaze was piercing at me, but it wasn't out of concern, anger, others was something there, a peek of curiosity that made it look like he wanted to see through me.

“How are you feeling?”

“I am fine, is something on your mind?”

“What?” He parted his lips, confused at my question. Even though I am older than Silas, sometimes he acts way mature and tends to be the only one that can see through me.

“Nothing, I just think something is strange”

“Strange, what are you talking about?”

“When I got you out of the water, you were out cold, the water seemed to have gotten to your chest And there was no sign of any pulse”

I couldn't fathom what to make out of his words, it didn't make any sense to me, almost amusing but his expression said otherwise.
