Chapter 3
Her long, fair fingers were slightly bent, resembling a crescent moon.
However, in the next moment, Jim Milne flicked his fingers.
“Buzz—”
An invisible force shot out from Jim Milne’s fingertips!
That terrifying force was countless times more fierce than a bullet leaving the barrel.
It traced a sharp trajectory through the air, piercing Omar Jodi’s forehead straight through.
With a single “thud”, he fell face-first to the ground, with a transparent hole of blood appearing on his head.
Blood flowed gurglingly, spreading across the ground in no time. The henchmen standing nearby were completely terrified by what they saw.
It wasn’t until then that Jim Milne replied calmly:
“How?”
“This is the fate of those who repay kindness with enmity.”
For a moment, the entire hall was completely silent.
Then, a series of crisp “clang” sounds were heard.
Looking at Andrew Jody, who remained dead-eyed, the dozen or so men with him trembled with fear. They dropped their weapons and ran away.
But before he could even step through the main door of the hall, he encountered another towering figure, as massive as an iron tower.
Ida Nahumton stood with her feet firmly planted on the ground, hands clasped in front of her chest. A cruel smile appeared on her rough-faced expression.
The men’s faces turned pale immediately, realizing that for them today, misfortune seemed far more likely than good fortune.
Unexpectedly, at that moment, Jim Milne’s calm voice came from behind:
“Enough. Spare their lives.”
“Having been away from home for so many years, I don’t want to contaminate this garden anymore.”
Ida Nahum then stepped aside to make room. But then Jim Milne said again:
“Take a message back to them: let the Jody family send someone to collect the body themselves…”
The men, as if granted a general amnesty, wished their parents hadn’t given them two extra legs each, and rushed out in a hurry.
…
Looking at the elderly couple still shaken on the sofa, Jim Milne said softly:
“Dad, Mom, what exactly happened at home?”
“And then, big brother’s death…”
The old couple exchanged glances, their faces filled with sorrow and indignation. Their adoptive father, Ron Bessie, sighed, his voice hoarse:
“Ah, what a fateful encounter.”
Finally, she broke the silence and began to tell Jim Milne the whole story.
Since last year, feeling that his health was declining day by day, the old man entrusted the management of the company to his eldest son, Cornell Bessie.
At first, the Bessie Corporation flourished under Cornell Bessie’s leadership, growing stronger by the day, which brought great satisfaction to the old man.
It was after a party that he met Bonnie Barnard, and that’s when all the trouble began.
“Ivonne Barnard really has clever tactics and skillful methods…”
Stepmother Agnes O’Neill laughed cruelly:
“At first, she was extremely obedient to both of us, and she treated Cornell with great kindness as well. There was nothing wrong with her behavior at all.”
“You know that Cornell values loyalty and trust. He trusted that woman completely, giving her authority over all kinds of business matters, big and small.”
One day, when his adoptive father, Ron Bessie, had nothing better to do, he took the time to review the company’s accounts personally. That’s when he noticed some irregularities.
But it was too late. They had already fallen into the trap set by Yvonne Barnard and her accomplices.
In one night, the entire Besi Group collapsed.
Generations of hard work were completely wasted. Even the ownership of this ancestral home fell into the hands of the Barnard family.
Only then did the father and son realize that behind this astonishing scheme lay the influence of the four major noble families.
Cornel Bessie, knowing he had failed his parents and ancestors, committed suicide while drunk, hanging himself in front of the group’s headquarters.
By the end, the adoptive parents were in tears, unable to speak.
After hearing this, Jim Milne let out a long sigh. Pain, nostalgia, anger, and self-reproach all flashed across his eyes.
“Dad, Mom, don’t worry.”
“As long as I’m here, our Bessie family will never fall!”
Jim Milne gently stroked the backs of their hands, his bright, profound eyes filled with determination.
Seemingly influenced by Jim Milne, his adoptive father Ron Bessie finally felt a glimmer of hope. He nodded firmly and said:
“Good! My child!”
“You’re back, Father is relieved now.”
Yet foster mother Agnes O’Neill was somewhat worried and hesitated, saying:
“But Jim, right now, with the Barnard family and the four major noble families working together, they practically hold all the power in Birmingham…”
“How can you defeat them alone?”
Even though the two elders now knew Jim Milne’s incredibly noble status.
Out of parental instinct, it’s hard not to worry about one’s only son these days.
Upon hearing this, Jim Milne simply smiled slightly, his tone unchanged as usual:
“Mom, don’t worry.”
"These little fish and shrimps… I can easily wipe them out with one hand!”
At this moment, the two elders finally felt relieved.
After days of living in fear, they could take it no longer. Jim Milne sent them upstairs to rest.
An hour later, a dozen or so vehicles rushed to the entrance of Luyuan.
“Which worthless brat dares to touch my third brother?”
A large group of people rushed in with fierce momentum, their shouts of battle echoing through the air.
At the head was a burly man in a suit, exuding the air of a nouveau riche. It was Andrew Jody, the eldest son of the Jody family.
As soon as he entered the room, Andrew Jody saw the corpse lying on the floor, completely cold. He was stunned for a moment, then cried out in disbelief:
“Third brother, you really did…”
“Who did this? How dare they commit such a heinous act!”
Andrew Jody rushed forward in a hurry, crying bitterly and looking extremely sorrowful.
Meanwhile, Jim Milne sat calmly on the sofa, savoring the tea in his hands. Ada Nahum stood respectfully to the side.
To this touching scene of brotherly affection right before their eyes, neither of them paid the slightest attention.
After crying and screaming his heart out, Andrew Jody finally calmed down a bit. With eyes blazing with fury, he yelled at Jim Milne and the others:
“Who on earth is it?”
“Come out and face your death quickly!”
It wasn’t until then that Jim Milne slowly spoke up:
“Let me take the death upon myself? How bold of you.”
He gently set down the teacup in his hands, without so much as glancing at Andrew Jody from beginning to end.
“It’s you after all!”
Andrew Jody stared intently at Jim Milne, his eyes blazing with fury.
That expression on her face seemed as though she wanted to devour the young man in front of her alive.
Jim Milne, however, remained calm and composed. He slowly stirred his teaspoon in his tea and said calmly:
“If it had happened earlier, perhaps he could have held on a little longer.”
“It’s a pity you came too late.”
This calm and indifferent tone only served to fuel Andrew Jody’s fury even more.
“Kid, you’ve got guts!”
“Killed my third brother, and still dares to sit here waiting for death!”
Yet, despite the anger burning in his heart, Andrew Jody felt a hint of caution and wariness rising within him.
After causing so much trouble in Birmingham over the years, he has far more experience than his younger brother Samuel Jody.
Samuel Jody’s body, which was completely torn to shreds, clearly showed signs of gunshot wounds.
If the other person had a gun, he really worried that something might go wrong today.
Moreover, what worried Andrew Jody the most was Ada Nahum, who was by Jim Milne’s side…
His body was covered in muscular arms like iron bars. He was extremely tall and burly, clearly a tough guy.
“Omar Khodori’s life is nothing more than collateral.”
Upon hearing this, Jim Milne’s voice remained completely calm, without any fluctuations:
“You must be well aware that without the support of the Bessi family back then, how could your Jody family have achieved what it has today?”
“In everything I do, I always make sure to repay kindness and settle debts.”
“Since your Jodhi family repays kindness with enmity, then every single member of that family deserves to die.”
