Chapter 8
Bishop Cumberland sneered. He folded his wings in front of him, enclosing himself within them. Looking at Ada Nahum, he said, “It’s useless. With your level of martial skill, you’ll never be able to break through my defenses!”
Ida Nahum said nothing. A surge of energy surged from her dantian. With the blade of her Blackwater Knife, whose edges were blue and red, she swung down vertically, aiming at the bishop of Cumberland’s wings!
“Snap…”
Ida Nahum’s blade once again scraped against the Bishop of Cumberland’s wings. Sparks flew from the edge of Blackwater’s blade. Above those flames, there was also a hint of coldness!
Ida Nahum looked at the blade of the Blackwater Knife, a faint smile playing on her lips.
It turned out that all eight types of blade energies were being activated simultaneously, continuously cutting at the Black Water Blade!
And with each cut, a scar would inevitably be left on the bishop of Cumberland’s wings!
Feeling the changes on his wings, Bishop Cumberland roared in pain, “That’s impossible!”
“How could you possibly break through my defenses!”
Ida Nahum snorted. “This is just the appetizer. What really comes next is the main course!”
Ida Nahum let out a loud cry and swung down along the blade of the Blackwater Knife!
“Bang!”
A loud noise erupted as the Bishop of Cumberland’s wings were split apart by Ada Nahum’s blade. Blood gushed as he fell to the ground!
Bishop Cumberland let out a mournful cry, his entire body trembling. It seemed as though, without his “wings,” Bishop Cumberland no longer had any strength at all.
Although Ada Nahum was sent flying several meters by the impact just now, it didn’t hinder her ability to attack!
As the plum blossom gave way under her feet, Ada Nahum immediately stabilized herself. She swung her Blackwater Knife at Bishop Cumberland before her.
This time, the Bishop of Cumberland had no means of defense left. The pain of losing one’s wings was something Ada Nahum could never understand.
Bishop Cumberland gritted his teeth and raised his hands, trying to block Ada Nahum’s blade with his sharp claws. But how could Bishop Cumberland’s claws possibly compare in hardness to his wings?
Ida Nahum swung her Blackwater Blade, effortlessly severing the Bishop of Cumberland’s palms. She also left a deep wound on the bishop’s chest, a mark left by a mage’s blade—a truly terrifying sight!
Ida Nahum looked at the wailing Bishop Cumberland with not a trace of sympathy in her eyes.
Ida Nahum stared at Bishop Cumberland’s severed wing. Wielding her Blackwater Knife, she completely separated the wing from the bishop’s body. Two streams of blood gushed from the wound in the wing!
At this point, the Bishop of Cumberland didn’t even have the chance to cry out in pain. The intense pain caused him to fall into a coma.
But Ada Naughum probably couldn’t have freed the Bishop of Cumberland so easily. With a little encouragement, the Bishop of Cumberland’s pupils suddenly widened, and he regained consciousness once more.
As soon as Bishop Cumberland opened his eyes, he felt a sharp pain in his back, along with the awareness that his life was gradually slipping away…
Ida Nahum snorted coldly, kicked Bishop Cumberland to the ground, and swung her Blackwater Knife at him. Yet each strike was barely forceful enough to leave another bloodstain on Bishop Cumberland’s body.
In just a few minutes, the entire body of Bishop Cumberland was covered in bloodstains of all sizes, a clear indication of how angry Ada Nahum was at that moment!
By this point, the Bishop of Cumberland had no strength left. He murmured weakly, “Kill me, kill me…”
Ida Nahum snorted coldly. “When you killed those innocent people in the past, did you ever think about what would happen to you today?”
Looking at Bishop Cumberland, who was in great pain on the ground, Ada Nahum wiped the blood from her blackwater blade, put it away, and knelt down to look at Bishop Cumberland.
“The very last thing you should have done was to provoke me!”
Ida Nahum stood up and crushed the bishop of Cumberland’s head with one foot. A martial arts expert of such high rank perished at Ida Nahum’s hands.
Seeing this scene, Myron Hope clearly lost his balance and fell backward.
Just then, a very familiar voice came through, “Oh, I wondered who it was. It’s Hope, isn’t it?”
“Hope, you rushed down here in such a hurry. I thought there was some urgent matter. Turns out, you were just upset with some young subordinate.”
If Myron Hope’s voice is like a tiger’s roar in the forest, then this voice is like a dragon’s deep roar.
A large group of people arrived at the luxurious banquet hall. Coincidentally, they were all acquaintances of Jim Milne, who knew each of them.
The head of the Simon family had met Jim Milne once and felt quite fond of him.
A few days ago, the head of the Johnson family was also saved by Jim Milne by chance.
Leading the way was naturally the head of the Simon family. Behind him were the patriarch of the Johnson family and the young master of the Johnson family. Soon, this group arrived in front of Jim Milne. Since the members of the Hope and Simon families didn’t get along with each other, they simply ignored them.
He simply walked up to the elderly Johnson with respect and said, “Mr. Johnson, I’m sorry. I need to take care of some personal matters first. I’ll come back and have a few drinks with you once I’m done.”
Mr. Johnson hadn’t said anything yet, but Young Master Sheng spoke up first. “Master Milne, I didn’t expect to see you here today. You must be suffering here.”
Hearing this, he hadn’t expected that Old Simon knew Jim Milne, let alone Myron Hope. He also hadn’t realized that Jim Milne actually had some connection to the Johnson family. Myron Hope’s mind worked rapidly, while his eyes kept scanning Jim Milne from head to toe.
Soon, he made a decision. “You bastard! Get on your knees right now and apologize to Master Miln,” said Myron Hope. With that, he kicked Rena Daniel to the ground.
Then, Myron Hope clasped his hands together and said to Jim Milne, “Master Milne, I’m truly sorry. This was indeed a misunderstanding. It’s all that woman’s fault. She’s completely foolish—how could she not recognize the importance of Master Milne? I hope you’ll forgive her. The Hope family will surely repay you generously in the future. If you have any other requests, please let me know. I’ll definitely fulfill them for you.”
This move stunned everyone present instantly. In reality, it wasn’t that the Hope family was afraid of the Johnson family. Rather, the current situation was one of tripartite balance of power. The Hope family had a poor relationship with the Simon family. If they offended the Johnson family as well, they would face tremendous pressure.
Myron Hope is a smart man who knows how to assess the situation properly. That’s why he made this difficult decision. Although it might seem humiliating, it was necessary in order to preserve his family’s business.
Although no one knew much about the Johnson family, it was clear from how respectfully Myron Hope acted that the Johnsons could exert significant pressure on the Hope family. And since Jim Milne was connected to such a powerful family, everyone around became curious about Jim Milne’s background.
“Hmph, I told you. How could this guy possibly be a reckless fool? He acts in a very methodical manner. Otherwise, how would he dare to offend the Daniel family?”
“Damn it, I thought this guy was an idiot. Who would’ve thought he’s actually so awesome?”
“Alas, the Hope family has really lost face now.”
Reyna Daniel knelt on the ground, gritting her teeth as she said, “I’m sorry.”
He didn’t look at Jim Milne, because he considered it an insult. He had never suffered such humiliation before. At that moment, Rena Daniel hated Jim Milne with every fiber of her being. She wished she could tear him to shreds and feed him to the dogs.
