Chapter 5

“Who the hell do you think you are calling trash? You’re the trash!” Chasell Delaton became furious upon hearing this.

“Heh, who’s the trash here?” Wayne Sosie laughed, raising his eyebrows in a teasing manner.

“Damn it, that trash is talking about you!” Provoked by Wayne Sosie’s attitude, Chasell Drayton became completely furious, completely unaware of the trap in Wayne Sosie’s words.

“Oh, so it was the trash talking about me!” Wayne Sosie grinned even wider.

“You, you damn…” Chasell Delaton finally realized what had happened. He was furious and raised his fist, ready to punch Wayne Sosie in that smug, laughing face. Wayne Sosie just sneered, quickly dodged Chasell Delaton’s attack, and turned to walk inside the Confir Corporation building.

“You wretched Corsi! Today, I’m going to ruin you!” Chassell Delaton, who had been mocked, lost his temper on the spot. Without thinking, he rushed into the Confidd Consortium’s headquarters. As soon as he entered, he attracted a lot of surprised looks. Only then did Chassell Delaton manage to calm down.

If I were to hit someone on ConocoPhillips’ territory today, then there’s no point in continuing these negotiations. So, Chasell Delaton forced down the raging anger surging within him. He glared viciously at Wayne Sosie, who stood nearby with a mocking expression on his face. “Wayne Sosie, wait just a bit. I’ll make you pay for this!”

“Heh, Chasell Delaton, you think you’re so great, don’t you? In my eyes, you’re not even worth mentioning. Just looking at you makes my eyes feel dirty!” Wayne Sosie smirked as he stepped into the elevator, under Chasell Delaton’s murderous glare. Soon, he disappeared from Chasell Delaton’s sight.

“Ahhh… Bastard!” Chassell Drayton punched the glass door of a nearby building. His face turned a dark red with anger, clearly very pissed off.

……

It wasn’t long before Wayne Sosie arrived at the top floor of the Confir Corporation building via the elevator.

He had informed Otis Sawyer in advance. Otis Sawyer had already made arrangements on Wayne Sosian’s behalf. Today, Wayne Sosian was there to meet with Vivian Warner, the current vice-chairperson of the Confir Corporation.

Speaking of Vivian Warner, she’s considered a major figure in Carlisle. Although she’s a woman, she’s already making a name for herself in the business world at a young age. She’s at the top of Carlisle’s business hierarchy. She’s efficient and decisive, with an excellent eye for investment and a real business acumen.

Moreover, she’s also a truly rare beauty. After the ConocoPhillips conglomerate was fully acquired, the former chairman left Carlisle and went overseas. Vivian Warner, on the other hand, was highly valued by the Sosie family, who spent a lot of money to keep her around. Her role was to assist Wayne Sosie in managing the vast ConocoPhillips conglomerate, serving as his right-hand person in Carlisle.

As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, Wayne Sosie saw Vivian Warner and her team of key members, who had been waiting for him for quite some time. They stood at the elevator door, greeting him with great respect.

“Good morning, Chairman!” A loud and respectful greeting rang out as Vivian Warner led the way, bowing to Wayne Sosie.

At that moment, Vivian Warner was utterly shocked. She had long heard of Wayne Sosie from Otis Sawyer, and she knew full well that she would be helping a young man take control of the Confir Corporation.

But Vivian Warner never expected that the young man called Lord Sosie, as described by Otis Sawyer, would be so young and yet so impressive in manner.

Although Wayne Sosie was dressed in simple, inexpensive casual clothes and didn’t wear any expensive jewelry, just by standing there, he made Vivian Warner feel like she stood out from the crowd.

“Chairman, I’m sorry for not being able to greet you personally upon your arrival. Please come to my office. I have matters I need to discuss and hand over to you.”

Vivian Warner didn’t dare to be negligent. She quickly bowed respectfully to Wayne Sosie and carefully asked for his opinion.

In Vivian Warner’s office, Wayne Sosie sat firmly in the chair, as steady as a mountain, while listening to Vivian Warner report on the company’s activities over the past period.

“Chairman, that’s roughly the situation. Do you have any further instructions?” Vivian Warner didn’t dare to be negligent in the slightest. After completing her report, she immediately asked respectfully,

“Two points!” Wayne Sosie tapped his fingers on the table. Vivian Warner immediately sat up straight and listened attentively.

“First, I prefer to keep a low profile in my personal life. The fact that I’ve taken control of the ConocoPhillips conglomerate must remain confidential. Second, the company needs to make some major moves soon. I’ve heard that the Carlisle New District is going to be developed. We’ll need to invest two billion to purchase land there for real estate development. You’re more experienced in these matters than I am. Do you understand?”

Wayne Sosie gave Vivian Warner a brief glance. Although he didn’t like to make a fuss about his actions, as the saying goes, a new official needs to show their authority right from the start. Wayne Sosie was determined to make sure that the first “fire” of this new real estate project would burn brightly.

Vivian Warner quickly took out her notebook to jot down the details, showing great care and seriousness.

“Good day, Chairman!” Just then, the receptionist knocked on the door and entered. She greeted Wayne Sosie, then turned to Vivian Warner: “Vice-Chairman Warner, there’s someone outside who would like to see you.”

“Hmm, I understand.” Vivian Warner nodded nonchalantly, not taking the matter seriously at all.

“Oh? Who is it? Does Vice Chairman Warner know them?” Wayne Sosian raised his eyebrows, clearly realizing that the person seeking an audience outside was most likely Chasell Drayton. He asked deliberately, as if to confirm his suspicions.

“Hmm… I seem to remember something. It’s some small family from Carlisle. They have minor financial dealings with our Confidd Consortium on a regular basis. Usually, my subordinates handle those matters. I’ve never met them myself!”

Hearing Wayne Sosie’s question, Vivian Warner thought carefully for a moment, then replied slowly.

“In that case, you go and greet them in person.” Wayne Sosie smirked teasingly, then waved at Vivian Warner. Upon seeing this, Vivian Warner immediately stepped forward to listen. Only then did Wayne Sosie continue, “And then, you just do this…”

Before long, Vivian Warner personally came down from the ConocoPhillips headquarters building. Chasell Drayton was overjoyed to see her. Usually, it was the department managers who handled such matters. It was completely unexpected that Vivian Warner herself would be involved. Although Chasell Drayton didn’t know the exact reason, he felt proud and honored.

“What do you want from me?” Vivian Warner sized Chasell Drayton up from head to toe, her face showing no expression as she asked.

“Ahem, Chairman Warner, here’s the situation: This is my wife. Her family would like to explore potential cooperation with your company. Could you, out of consideration for the Delaney family, grant them some small-scale cooperation opportunities?” Chasell Delaney carefully chose his words, fearing that any misstatement might upset Vivian Warner.

However, before Chassell Delaton could finish speaking, Vivian Warner interrupted him. “What kind of person are you, to even dare ask me to give face to your family? Get out of my sight now! Starting today, the Confidd Consortium will terminate all cooperation with the Delaton family!”

As soon as Vivian Warner said those words, Chasell Drayton was completely stunned. He stood there, frozen in place, his mind temporarily unable to process anything.

Vivian Warner couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to the feelings of insignificant people like Chasell Dryden. With a slight smile on her lips, she looked at Ruth Nora, who seemed utterly confused, and said, “I’ve heard a little about the Nora family. They have a decent reputation in Carlisle. Although their financial situation isn’t very strong, it’s not impossible to work with them. But I need to see your sincerity!”

After saying those words, Vivian Warner turned and left, leaving behind the overjoyed Ruth Nora and the disheveled Chasell Dryden in the wind.
