Chapter 9

Anna Hilda had a smile on her face. She was about to reach out to shake Vivian Warner’s hand and exchange a few polite words. But Vivian Warner cut her off right away: “You’re here to sign the contract, right? I’m sorry, but the boss isn’t here today. You can wait or come back another day.”

Anna Hilda was somewhat taken aback. She hadn’t known that the chairman of the Confidd Consortium had changed. Just as she was about to say something, Vivian Warner interrupted her again by raising her hand.

“Excuse me for a moment. I have a very important business deal to discuss right now. We can talk later if there’s anything to discuss!” With that, Vivian Warner walked past Anna Hilda without even looking back, heading straight into the conference room nearby. Anna Hilda stood there, completely confused…

“You must be Miss Diana Nora. As they say, seeing is believing!” As Vivian Warner entered the meeting room, her gaze immediately fell on Diana Nora, her face wearing a warm and enthusiastic smile.

Vivian Warner’s sudden appearance left Diana Nora momentarily at a loss. She quickly got up to greet Vivian Warner.

“Mr. Warner, the whole incident with Harvey Nora was just a misunderstanding. We can discuss the possibility of working together with your company again…”

“No need to talk anymore. Let’s just sign the contract!” Vivian Warner was decisive and efficient. She cut Diana Nora off mid-sentence, took a contract from her assistant, and handed it to Diana Nora.

“Ah?”

Looking at the contract with its black-and-white terms in front of her, Diana Nora was momentarily stunned. Before coming here today, she had imagined countless scenarios. She thought it might be a lengthy and complicated negotiation, or that ConocoPhillips might simply throw her out without any warning. But she never expected things to turn out like this!

Meanwhile, Vivian Warner was quietly observing Diana Nora. It was only yesterday that she found out that her direct superior was actually the son-in-law of a minor family from Carlisle.

However, Vivian Warner understood that a man as exceptional as Wayne Sosie would never willingly agree to become part of a small family like hers without a good reason. There must be some reason she wasn’t aware of.

However, Vivian Warner had to admit that Diana Nora was indeed very beautiful. Her serene and elegant demeanor stood out greatly. No wonder she could win the heart of a man as outstanding as Wayne Sosie.

But Vivian Warner thought she was no less impressive. She was considered one of the most beautiful women in Carlisle, with countless suitors. In terms of both appearance and ability, Vivian Warner was never one to admit defeat. She believed that if she behaved well, that outstanding and strong man might just fall for her.

Women are truly magical creatures. When they meet other equally outstanding women, they can’t help but compete with each other in secret.

The signing process went exceptionally smoothly, to the point where Diana Nora wondered if she was experiencing some utterly unreal dream. Every term of the contract drafted by the Confidd Consortium was beneficial to the Nora family, leaving it seem as though they, the Noras, were actually the party in control. Staring at her own name written in black ink on the paper, Diana Nora was stunned, unable to come back to her senses for a long time.

Even after Diana Nora left the Confidd Consortium, she remained completely stunned. She was like a wooden statue, with a dizzy head as if she were floating in the clouds.

Wayne Sosie, who was standing at the entrance of the Confidd Consortium’s building, noticed Diana Nora’s distraught expression and immediately frowned. He stepped forward anxiously and asked, “What’s wrong? Did the negotiations not go well?”

That shouldn’t be the case. Vivian Warner definitely wouldn’t dare to make any waves regarding this matter. Everything should proceed according to plan. But looking at Diana Nora’s distraught expression, it seems like there’s some problem with the contract.

“No, the contract was signed smoothly, and surprisingly easily too!” Diana Nora gradually came back to her senses and quickly began to explain.

“That’s good to hear. Now I’m relieved!” Wayne Sosie finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Diana Nora’s affirmative reply.

“It must be her!” At that moment, Diana Nora suddenly blurted out these meaningless words out of nowhere.

“Who?” Wayne Sosie was puzzled, not quite understanding what Diana Nora meant.

“Yes, it must be her. She must have pleaded for me. That’s why everything went so smoothly!” Diana Nora said with absolute certainty. Clearly, she misunderstood that Anna Hilda was responsible for the smooth progress of today’s negotiations.

“Hah?”

Watching Diana Nora’s beaming face, Wayne Sosie twitched his lips in confusion. He had no idea what she was talking about at all.

At that moment, the Nora Group was in an uproar. Harvey Nora hung up the phone and burst into laughter, his face showing a look of extreme satisfaction and relief.

“I knew it! I knew it!” Harvey Nora paced back and forth, as if he’d heard some incredible good news. Many members of the Nora family looked at him in confusion, wondering what could have made Harvey Nora so excited.

“Hahaha, heaven helps me! That little bitch Diana Nora, who does she think she is? The Confir Corporation certainly won’t give her any attention. Look, her negotiations failed and she was kicked out. I bet she’s currently hiding in some corner, crying in secret!”

Harvey Nora grew more and more excited. It seemed to him as though the failed negotiations with the Confidd Consortium meant no loss at all to his Nora Group. All he could think about was how to humiliate Diana Nora and that good-for-nothing Wayne Sosie. Harvey Nora was determined to use this opportunity to drive those two out of the Nora family!

It turned out that Harvey Nora had already sent people to wait outside the Confidd Consortium’s headquarters, keeping a close watch on Diana Nora’s every move. As soon as Diana Nora stepped out of the consortium, her subordinates immediately reported her distraught appearance to Harvey Nora. Thus, Harvey Nora was certain that Diana Nora’s negotiations had failed!

“Let’s go! Let’s go meet our great hero outside the company!” Harvey Nora sneered, and along with many members of the Nora family who were eager to see the spectacle, they all rushed towards the company entrance.

Before long, Diana Nora arrived at the entrance of the Nora Corporation in a small electric bike driven by Wayne Sosie. However, Harvey Nora ordered the security guards to block their path.

“Harvey Nora, what do you mean by this?” Diana Nora’s eyes narrowed as she stared intently at Harvey Nora, demanding an explanation.

“Hehehe, Diana Nora, how dare you come back? Since the negotiations have failed, keep your promise and get out of the Nora family!” Harvey Nora took the lead, immediately expressing his stance without hesitation.

“Who told you I failed? The negotiations with ConocoPhillips went very smoothly. They’ve agreed to pursue further cooperation with our Nora family. It’s you, Harvey Nora, who needs to keep your promises!” Diana Nora wasn’t about to let anyone take credit for this success. After all, she had personally secured the contract with ConocoPhillips, so she felt completely confident.

“Laughable! Diana Nora, what do you think you are? Do you really think you can accomplish what I couldn’t? Don’t think I don’t know that you slunk out of the Confir Corporation building like a beaten dog, spreading lies and cheating people here. Do you really think we’re fools?”

Harvey Nora had already fallen out with Diana Nora long ago. He couldn’t be bothered to care about any so-called brotherly/sisterly feelings. The things he said were extremely vicious.
