Chapter 4
With a loud "boom," my mind went blank.
That evening, I was sitting in the living room, eating dinner.
Stephen was helping Ross into the room. Ross leaned against him, one hand gently caressing her belly, showing a delicate, feminine pose.
"Anja, there's something I have to tell you." Stephenspoke first.
I put down my chopsticks, coldly staring at him.
Stephen cleared his throat, then lowered his head to kiss Stephen.
"Stephen is pregnant, and the child is mine. I have to take responsibility for her and the baby."
"But don't worry, I will still marry you. You’ll still be Mrs. Walls, I promised to marry you, and I will keep that promise."
His voice was flat, as though he were discussing the weather.
I couldn't help but laugh.
How could such a deceitful person still have the face to talk about promises?
"Promises? Your promises aren’t worth a thing. Didn’t you promise you would love me forever?"
Stephenwas stunned, unable to respond at first.
Stephen, standing nearby, spoke with dissatisfaction.
"It's already good that Vito hasn't abandoned you. Look at you now, disabled, unable to take care of yourself."
"Vito is still willing to marry you, you should be secretly grateful."
Stephen frowned and spoke.
"Anja, stop making a scene."
"After our wedding, Stephen and I will move abroad."
"We'll get married there. She’s my wife now, and you should stop bullying her."
After speaking, he helped Stephen leave.
Just then, I received another message from the white profile.
"Anja, can you reply to me?"
I was puzzled, wondering how he could send messages to me from ten years in the future.
Suddenly, a flash of insight hit me.
It seemed that every time eighteen-year-old Anja got angry and stopped replying to him, his messages would end up here.
As I thought, more messages came in.
"Ever since you came back from the mountain, you’ve been ignoring me. Why are you angry? Didn’t you say I shouldn’t come looking for you?"
I sighed softly and tapped the screen.
"Yeah, I told you not to look for me. Don’t get involved with me in this life."
The person on the other side seemed deeply hurt.
Eighteen-year-old Stephennaturally didn’t understand.
Why was Anja ignoring him just because he talked to Stephen a bit?
"Okay, I won’t bother you again, but Anja, please take care of yourself and stay happy."
I burst into tears once again.
That night, I had a dream.
In the dream, I met eighteen-year-old Anja.
I cried and told her to stay away from Stephen. I spent the whole night explaining the grievances of these ten years.
By dawn, eighteen-year-old Anja was already crying uncontrollably.
Until the wedding day, eighteen-year-old Stephen didn’t contact me again.
The messages I sent seemed to have sunk into the ocean, with no reply.
On the wedding day, Stephen, while the makeup artist was out, forcefully yanked me out of my wheelchair.
She fiercely grabbed my thigh.
"You useless piece of trash, you really want to marry Stephen?"
"Stephen, have you lost your mind?"
Of course, I didn’t actually intend to marry Stephen.
I only wanted to expose his true nature in front of everyone today.
I struggled in anger, but as a disabled person, how could I fight against her?
She was so strong that she even tore off my prosthetic leg.
I quickly grabbed my phone, hoping to contact Cloe for help.
Just then, a completely black profile appeared in my SNS.
"Future me, hold on, I’m coming."
Then, a strange light enveloped the whole room.
Time seemed to freeze.
Amidst the light, a figure in a school uniform gradually became clear—it was eighteen-year-old me.
She hugged me, crying so hard she could barely breathe.
"Don’t worry, this time, I won’t be foolish."
After saying that, she vanished.
Even more unbelievable things happened.
My legs suddenly became numb, itching intensely.
I looked down, and in the empty skirt, two legs had appeared.
