Chapter 128
I couldn’t believe what she was saying. There was no way that I could do that. I loved Candido so much. I couldn’t keep something like this from him. We just got to the point where he would kiss me. If I thought about how much he hated vampires, how much werewolves in general hated vampires, I couldn’t even imagine keeping it from him.
“No.” She scoffed. I glared at her. “No. I’m not keeping this from him.”
She shrugged. “Okay.”
I narrowed my eyes. “Okay…?”
She shrugged. “Your lineage. Your daddy. Your problem.”
I narrowed my eyes as she took another long drag of her pipe. There was something off about that. I didn’t like how easily she just gave in. She wasn’t even trying to convince me of her side. Did she not care? Why would she even suggest me keeping this from him if it didn’t matter.
“Well, as lovely as this all was,” she said, turning her pipe of and knocking out the ash. “I have things to do. Shall I get you back?”
I frowned. “That’s it.”
“What?” She asked. “Did you expect me to say something else?”
I blinked at her and narrowed my eyes at her. “You don’t get out much, do you? This isn’t a normal conversation!”
She laughed. “Oh dear, I have a much more involved social calendar than a teenager who thinks she’s all grown up because she’s turning twenty but has never even had a shot of alcohol before. And you’re hardly an expert on normal conversations.”
I flushed. “Are you always going to insult me?”
“How is the truth an insult?” She asked, tilting her head. “Aside from Claire—well, just in general, I suppose, what friends do you even have? Never been to a party? Never been invited to a party? You’ve spent your entire teenaged life, including this year, behind a computer screen, pretending to need help with your homework, and… daydreaming.”
She snorted. “You can’t even imagine what kind of fun I have on my social calendar that I’d rather be getting to.”
She dusted off her pants, and I frowned at the flash of shimmer and skin from beneath her cloak.
“Are you… not wearing a shirt?”
She blinked and opened her cloak revealing a sparkling bustier top that I couldn’t even imagine wearing. My jaw dropped.
“Why would you wear that to war? Who is being childish now?”
She scoffed. “Trapping a bunch of helpless werewolves with a silver cave is not war. And reference that social calendar I was talking about earlier?”
She pulled out her phone and popped something in her mouth that looked like candy before tousling her hair. She pouted.
“This is why he said I didn’t want a sibling,” she sighed and tucked her phone away. “Look, I don’t have a lot more time to deal with you and your daddy problems. What you decide is your business. Just know that if he cuts your head off and tries to reattach it, it won’t work. You’ll be dead.”
“Candido would never kill me!”
“Oh?” She shrugged. “If you’ve got that much faith in him, by all means. I think I’d be a little wary about telling anyone hey, you know those people that burned down your house and killed your mother and father? Yeah, that was my uncle and cousins—oh, and my sister.”
My eyes widened at her as she lifted her shoulder again.
“Also, just so you know, my other cousin just raided your capital.” She nodded. “Best do it with your best pout and maybe show a little skin.”
I stared at her at a loss. My eyes prickled with tears, and they started to run over. A sob escaped me, but she didn’t seem to care, inspecting her nails as I sobbed at the thought.
Candido would never hurt me, but he would never look at me the same way. Moon Shadow and everyone else would look at me the way they looked at Claire and Francium. I’d be little more than a traitor in their eyes.
“Please stop with the waterworks,” she shook her head. “You’re going to make your face all puffy, and who the hell wants to listen to alpha caveman going on and on about me making you cry.”
I sniffled and looked up at her. “You did make me cry.”
“No, I didn’t. I told you the truth, and you came to a conclusion that made you cry.” She shook her head. “To some degree, you can’t escape it. It’s going to come out.”
“That’s not—” I shook my head. “Then, why do I have to keep it a secret.”
She pointed at me. “How should I know what you were imagining happening when you told him?”
I sniffled. “But I… if I’m… if it’s going to come out eventually… then why… Why should I?”
My head was whirling.
She groaned and threw up her hands. “Listen, honey. I really am running late. Here’s a rundown. You don’t tell him because he’ll blow up and you have nothing to offer. No sugar for the tonic, so to speak?”
“… what’s a tonic?”
She rolled her eyes. “Cough medicine.”
I wrinkled my nose. “I hate cough medicine.”
She pursed her lips. “I’m sure. You need to figure out how to tap into your powers like I said. When you do, you’ll have information, a proper opportunity, and plenty of sugar to offer, hm? You’re in the middle of war. If he’s half the leader you think he is, he’d take any information he could get that might give him an edge at the right time, but you have to be able to present it to him in that way, wouldn’t you?”
I frowned and nodded dumbly. She gestured vaguely.
“Ease him into it. When it comes out, you’ll have a little argument, a lot of kissing--maybe get his cock in your mouth, and all will be forgiven. Got all that, honey?”
My face burned and I covered my face. “Are you always like this?”
“I’m pretty toned down right now, but if you hold me up for much longer, I’m going to get worse.” Her eyes flashed. “I’m hungry and I had plans for a smoking hot threesome tonight. So can we get a move on?”
I didn’t even know what to say to that as she sauntered towards me. She pulled out a small book.
“Mom asked me to give you this,” she said then put a small compact in my hand. “More reliable than a cellphone. Don’t lose it or throw it at someone. It’s crystal not glass.”
I frowned down at it. “How… am I supposed to answer it?”
“It’ll flash when I’m calling. Open it. To call me, just call my name. If I’m busy, it won’t flash. Any questions?” She stood near the painting with a hand on her hip.
I rose to my feet, a little dizzy.
“How… come you’re not affected by silver?”
“The same reason you’re not,” she chuckled. “We’re of a higher existence…”
I frowned at that but followed her into the cave. The painting slid closed behind us.
She pointed down the stairs. “Just follow the path down the same way you came. By the time you get there, the silver will be gone and the path out of the caves will be open to you. Seriously, stay out.”
I nodded and took a few steps. I stopped as another pathway opened behind me and something on her hip flashed. I looked up at her as she pulled out another compact and opened it.
“Are… you really going to a threesome?” I asked staring at her.
She flashed a grin and turned the compact towards me, so I could see the faces on the surface.
One of the men let out a low whistle. He had dark skin, and his eyes were a bright silver. He was handsome and looked about my age. The man that pushed him out of the way was a little lighter with glowing amber eyes. He looked maybe a little older and had the same strong jaw line.
He let out a low whistle. “That’s her?”
“In the flesh. The genes are strong, aren’t they?”
“Very… Is she coming?”
My face burned.
“No,” she said her eyes flashing with mischief. “She’s a bit too wolfy for what you like.”
“Ah… makes sense. Thank god. I’m not in the mood.”
“You? Not in the mood?”
“I’m not old enough to fulfill a daddy complex.”
“You mean you don’t look old enough,” she snorted.
“A little concerning, isn’t it?”
She shrugged. “No judgment about what she wants. I would have gone for something different, but she likes what she likes.”
She turned the compact back and waved me on. “You’ll meet them some other time. Go on and get back to your daddy, hm?”
I turned around and hurried down the stairs as she began to speak.
“I’m heading back. I’d like a bath and at least one of you better be hard…”
I got to the bottom of the stairs as the wall opened and her voice vanished. I shook my head but I couldn’t help but smile a little. She was nothing like Bella. I wasn’t sure if I liked having an older sister, but it was better than the younger one I had.
The large stone room felt different when I arrived. The jeeps had all been turned off though the lights still filled the space.
“Pandora!” Candido called as soon as the stone closed behind me. He jumped from the jeep and ran over to me. “Are you hurt? Why is your face red? Were you crying?”
