Chapter 6 Chapter 6

Lucian's POV

I couldn't get her out of my mind.

I never thought much about people, whether I hated them or not. I was just always indifferent to things.

Even when it came to my father who stirred the most emotions out of me, there were days I even forgot about him.

But with her...

Reina.

I didn't know how much time had passed since I'd seen her. The council had found a way to prevent us from being in the same room somehow because they'd heard of the incident that happened last time.

To be honest, I wasn't interested in harming Reina anymore. I didn't exactly like her or care about her, but I just had other things on my mind.

Like the incoming Moonlight competition.

I slammed my fists against the bag, unintentionally breaking it, forcing sand out.

"Whoa, that was quite violent."

I turned to see my closest friend Collin leaning on the wall.

"Why didn't you tell me you were back?" I questioned, steadying my breath, sweat dripping down my body.

I took off my gloves, flexing my arms as I gulped down the bottled water he offered me.

He grinned. "I wanted to surprise you." He continued. "I heard there's a new girl in school. What's her name... Uh, Reina, right? I didn't know it was possible for anyone to bring you to your knees. I'd like to meet her."

I glared at him. It'd been recent, but I'd still tried to forget what happened. It didn't affect my social ranking, though I could tell that there'd definitely be some people interested in challenging me because of it.

I gritted my teeth. So fucking annoying.

"How was your research?" I asked, moving away from the topic.

I wiped my face with a towel after drinking the water and motioned for him to sit.

Collin leaned back, silent for a moment before answering. "It was... interesting. Still no hybrid in existence, and there's nothing that can be equivalent to it. I found something that has to do with the supernatural though... access to dig deeper can't easily be gotten."

I wouldn't act like I was interested in what he was doing. He seemed pretty happy with it, and he was given a lot of freedom since his research was important in updating everything in the magic tower.

Collin was known for being a prodigy in magic. He was an interesting mixture of werewolf father and witch mother, but he wasn't a hybrid. In our world, you'll always be just one. And so, he took the most powerful DNA, which was his mother's.

He was still a part of my pack though. My family. There were some people that saw him as 'other', but they'd never say it to my face.

They knew I'd rip them to shreds if they did.

I remembered something. "Reina... Is there any instance of there being someone like her?"

Collin leaned forward. "What do you mean?"

I explained what happened, knowing he didn't know the details.

"Witches can do something of the sort... But the detailing you're giving me is not something that has to do with witches."

"Really?"

He tapped his chin, then smiled widely. "I'd like to meet this Reina girl."

We weren't able to find her.

It would raise suspicion if we did considering what had happened before.

We couldn't go to her dorm because of a lot of other reasons. So we set off to the magic tower.

We were getting a lot of looks from everyone. Whispers, flushed faces, girls attempting to step forward... It was a lot. But I was used to it by now.

Collin wanted to use magic to take us there, but I didn't want that. I wanted to take in enough air from outside first.

Ever since Reina came to our school, I'd been in turmoil. I've been having a lot of dreams. Dreams I couldn't interpret, and sometimes I couldn't remember them.

They weren't anything too serious so I never asked for help.

"Penny for your thoughts?"

I blinked to see a penny in my face and I let out an involuntary chuckle. "You're an idiot."

Collin chuckled too. "You just seem spaced out."

"Yeah."

I didn't elaborate.

It wasn't anything serious.

Unfortunately, the feeling of ease I'd gotten from the walk over to the tower was ruined when we got into the tower building with Collin's magic.

And appeared right in front of Marietta Swan.

I gazed at my friend silently.

He raised his hands up, an apologetic expression on his face. "I didn't know she was here."

Marietta had soon gotten out of her surprise and kissed me right on the cheek, a smile on her face. "Lucian! What are you doing here?"

I pointed at Collin, who bowed respectfully.

Marietta smiled. "Oh, hi, Collin. You're back. Welcome."

She held my hand as we walked. It was already a surety that she would follow us. We couldn't really tell her to leave us the fuck alone.

The room we were in was extremely large with a mountain of books and barely anyone in it. It was one of Collin's most designated spots. The library he'd recently put together but wasn't done with.

"So what are you-"

I bumped into someone by the door.

"Oh, sor-"

My eyes widened when I met familiar eyes. "What the..."

"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked, my voice unintentionally cold.

It was Reina. And she took a step away from me, unable to say anything in response.

"Ah, don't be rude, Mr. Draven. I was the one who brought her here," Dr. Gustavo's annoying voice spoke up behind me.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her walk up to stand beside him.

"What do you mean?"

My eyes remained on Reina who seemed uncomfortable under my gaze, but I couldn't help it. I almost wanted to reach out and drag her away from him. They shouldn't even be a few feet close to each other.

"Since she's not going to be expelled, I thought it was best to teach her about her magic abilities."

"WHAT?!"

I didn't know who else yelled, but I didn't care. Blood rushed through my ears as I simply stared.

What was happening? Magic?

That smirking vampire seemed to be enjoying our shock as he feigned surprise. "Didn't you hear the news? Our dear Reina seems to have an interesting bloodline. She might be our first hybrid!"
