Chapter 2 The guy from last night

Lyra's POV

I stormed out of the house with tears blurring my vision but I didn't head back to the estate. Memories rushed in, everything coming back and hitting me hard.

I recalled everything. How I had cried when she forced me into the Alpha's estate when I was only seven.

I despised it, I wanted to despise her but couldn't. She made it look like she was protecting me but she wasn't.

She only wanted to send me away because I was holding her back from doing the things she wanted. Because my existence in her life was a mistake.

I was lucky to find a bar where I could crash down and drink all I want but I had only taken a bottle of alcohol when I noticed a commotion going on a few steps away from me.

“You bastard!” A man snapped at one of the waiters, kicking him to the floor. “You dare spill alcohol on my boots? Do you know how much that costs?”

The waiter quickly stood up and bowed his head. “It really isn't my fault, sir! You shook my hand and the alcohol spilled, it really—”

He was cut off by the man who grabbed his dress from the collar, making him shudder.

Anger flared in my eyes. Rich people and how they think they are gods!

I stood up from my table and moved to him. “Enough. Get your hands off him” I ordered with a darkened gaze.

The man turned his gaze to me, his blue eyes intimidating and almost getting me to shiver.

“And who do you think you are to tell me that?” He snapped.

“Just because you think you are rich doesn't make you a god!” I snapped. My voice was raised and I yanked his hands off the waiter.

“You bitch!” The man yelled but before he could speak further, my voice rose.

“You are the one in the wrong but you want to blame someone else?” I scoffed. “That shows you are an asshole!”

He blinked, staring at me with amusement. I didn't stop, I was getting too enraged to be able to control my emotions at the moment.

“Who the fucking hell do you think you are?!” He roared, making everyone turn their gaze to us.

“You must be crazy! You are one crazy woman, aren't you?” He held my hand, pointing his finger into my face.

I yanked my hand away from him, using my two hands to push him even though he barely budged.

I looked over at his table and picked the bottle of alcohol then emptied the content on his boot while he gasped, his eyes wide open in shock.

“What? You want to grab me and push me to the floor?” I scoffed out. “Then I'd like to see you try it!”

I turned to the waiter. “Next time, throw thrashes like them out! Forget how much is in his fucking wallet!”

I turned my gaze to the man's table again and saw his wallet which was placed gently on a side of the table. I picked it up and slammed it into the floor, making sure to step on it with my worn out shoe.

Everyone stared at me in awe, their lips parted. It wasn't my business but I handled it like I was the waiter who was being reprimanded.

I walked over to the counter, paid for the drinks I had then left the venue but I could feel the man's gaze burning into me from the back.

I didn't care, I only walked back to the estate to fall into my bed to sleep.

**

The next morning, everyone was made to wake up early to prepare for the mating ceremony.

It started with every member of the council present, the pack members also spectating.

I served meals at the ceremony but my eyes didn't leave my mother as I moved. She sat royally on the chair beside the alpha as the ritual went on.

My teeth gritted. I didn't like this. I didn't want it.

Moments later, both the alpha and Mother stood up.

“I Marcus Robinson take you, Aurelia Drake as my mate” the alpha said and my mother also repeated.

The priest moved closer to them with a dagger in hand and with one swift move, he slashed the Alpha's palm, his blood dripping into a cup. He moved to my Mother who also stretched her hand without hesitation. He slashed her, her blood dripping into the same cup.

The Alpha drank the blood from the cup and my mother also did.

“Bow to the Luna! Long live the Luna!” The priest roared.

Everybody fell to their knees, bowing their heads except the Alpha and I.

I stood and watched everyone then back at my Mother. I was also expected to bow but I didn't want to. My gaze locked with the alpha whose gaze darkened as the seconds passed by.

I had no other options but to also fall to my knees, showing respect to the new Luna who is my mother.

Later, everyone left. I was clearing the dishes with the other maids, glancing at the alpha and Mother who laughed alongside each other as they talked.

I wanted to be invincible. I've always been. But as I walked past Mother, she chose that moment to speak.

“Right, Alpha,” she said. “Meet my daughter, Lyra”

My feet paused on the marble floor and I was forced to turn, showing respect to the Alpha.

He looked surprised but a smile spread on his face. “I didn't know she worked here. You should have told me earlier and she could have dressed nicer on a day like this”

“I didn't think that was necessary.” Mother bowed slightly. “I'm sorry for not saying earlier”

Again, the Alpha turned his gaze to me. “Nice to meet you, Lyra,”

I wanted to force myself to smile but the smile wouldn't even appear on my face. Not even a word could also get formed.

The alpha continued. “My heir arrived yesterday. I told him to be here but that brat….” The alpha paused, his gaze snapping to the side.

“Oh, there he comes!” He said.

His son? Kael Robinson?

I also turned my gaze to look at the Alpha's son who had suddenly become my stepbrother but my legs wobbled when I saw him. There was no other person walking towards us, so it's him.

He's the man from last night, the one I yelled at and poured alcohol on his sacred feet.
