Chapter 49

Sofia

It was the day before the wedding. So far Sofia’s plans had come to nothing. She wasn’t sure how the girl had won over Roman. When he had called her to say that he was no longer going to do it, he hadn’t given her an explanation. Perhaps she had underestimated her.

Whatever. She was finally out of the hospital which meant that Arthur could no longer hide from her. She was going to show him exactly what he was giving up. Sofia knew that if Arthur just saw her, he would come running back.

But first she needed to get back to her old self. It wasn’t like the hospital had a solon or anything that she could visit. Her hair was a mess, her skin felt horrible, everything was just wrong.

Which was why she was in the city at her favorite day spa. They had everything she needed. She flipped through a magazine as the hairdresser washed her hair. It felt so good to be doing things she was familiar with.

Sofia paused as Arthur’s picture appeared on the page. He was standing next to a woman she didn’t know. The woman had mousy brown hair and eyes that had zero sparkle. She had an average looking body. Even her clothes were basic. In other words, there was nothing special about her.

Sofia’s lips pulled back in a sneer and she wrinkled her nose. This is who Arthur had chosen instead of her? This nobody? How had this girl convinced everyone she was worthy of Arthur? Maybe she had bewitched him.

She almost laughed. This was going to be too easy. As soon as she saw Arthur, she was going to give him what he always wanted. She wasn’t going to take no for an answer. If she had to strip down in front of everyone, so be it. But she would consummate the mate bond tonight if it was the last thing she did.

After her hair was back to its long and lustrous locks, Sofia went to the makeup chair. She gave the artist strict instructions that she needed to look natural and dewey, not her usual bombshell look.

She really needed Arthur to think that she had changed. That her injury had made her see what was most important to her. That she was ready to become a mother and a wife.

Sofia was used to getting what she wanted, even if she had to play a part. She was no stranger to the long game. If she needed to pretend that she was willing to give Arthur everything, so be it. There were ways of preventing pregnancy that men didn’t know about.

When she was satisfied that she looked like a damsel in distress, it was time for her to go find some clothes. She flitted from store to store, searching for items that would give a sexy-poor-me vibe.

Unfortunately, the sexy-poor-me vibe was harder to pull off than she initially thought. So she settled for a girl-next-door vibe instead. The kind of girl you could take home to your mother. The kind of girl whose only dream was to someday have a family.

She picked out a soft pink tweed skirt, paired with a white, cotton, button-up blouse. She made sure that her cleavage was barely showing for modesty’s sake. She finished the look with a headband that matched the skirt, pearl earrings and a pair of white kitten heels. Sofia had tried to do flats, but she just couldn’t do it.

When she looked at herself in the mirror, she didn’t recognize herself. It was like looking at a pale echo of who she actually was. The sight almost made her gag.

Now all she had to do was go ruin a wedding. Some of her contacts in the pack had told her where the rehearsal dinner was going to be. She was going to just march in there and declare her love for Arthur. And then drag him into another room and make love to him. She kind of hoped the girl would run after them and catch them in the act. That would teach her.

Almara

I couldn’t believe that the wedding was tomorrow. How had time flown by so fast? I had been running around all day, trying to get ready for the rehearsal dinner. It was literally the last step before the wedding.

To say I was nervous was an understatement. This was her dream. I was going to get married and have a family. And I was pretty sure that Arthur loved me back.

I couldn’t really remember what had happened after my second glass of wine. But I had a sense that I had confessed and Arthur hadn’t exactly rejected me. Of course, I hadn’t found the courage to say it while I was sober. So I wasn’t a hundred percent sure.

Maybe I could say it once I became luna. I would get some added benefits when I was officially bestowed the power. Like being able to tell when someone was lying. If Arthur told me he loved me back, I’d finally be able to settle the matter.

Arthur came into the bedroom where I was getting ready. I had insisted on doing my own hair and makeup. Mostly because the usual person who would have done it wore a perfume that was way too strong. My pregnancy nose couldn’t take it.

“Are you almost done?” he asked, giving me a look that had me pressing my thighs together.

“Not at all. I’ve only just started,” I answered, watching him as he stalked toward me. The hairs on my arms raised. We may have both been predators, but right now I felt like prey.

“Good,” he said, before picking me up off the chair and throwing me onto the bed.

I shrieked, grabbing onto the sheets to keep me from bouncing back up again. He’d somehow managed to undo the tie on my robe, so my breasts fell out of it. Arthur gave me a smirk as he crawled on top of me.

“What are you doing?”

“What does it look like? I can tell you’re nervous. I’m just helping you relax,” Arthur said, running a finger lazily over my nipple and making it pucker.

“We don’t have that much time,” I told him, slapping at his shoulder. If his track record was any indication, it wasn’t a total lie. We did not have time for seconds and definitely not for thirds.

“Oh, I’m going to make this quick. I bought you something. It had great reviews on the website. Apparently you’ll only last for a minute. Maybe less,” he said cryptically before reaching into the bedside drawer.

He pulled out a purple…thing…that was shaped like the greater than sign. One side was a ribbed piece that looked suspiciously like a man’s private part while the other side had a hole on the bottom and two buttons on the top.

I watched in fascination as Arthur touched one of the buttons and the ribbed side started buzzing. Then he pushed the other button and a sucking nose came out of the hole. I suddenly knew what I was in for.

Arthur slowly coated the ribbed side in my juice before inching it inside. The vibration caused my inner walls to clench. It felt good, but it was enough. Not until he attached the hole to my clit.

I flung my head back as it suctioned on. I had used toys before, but this one was definitely superior.

Arthur licked a trail up my neck to my ear. “Come for me, little wolf. Who do you belong to?”

“You. Only you,” I gasped out as the vibrator wrung out my orgasm at lightning speeds.

I could hear Arthur chuckling as I came down from dizzying heights. “Yes, this will do nicely for the first round. Now we do have time for the second.”

I should have known he wouldn’t be satisfied by just one round.
