Chapter 4

Kaelenya pov

My eyes flickered opened, the morning ray shone on my eyes, welcoming me to a new day of horror.

My eyes scanned around my luxurious room, still getting use to my new reality. The words of Roman still pondered hard on my chest. I know most of my life has been filled with pain and hardship so the word slave isn't suppose to scare or trouble me, but being a slave in this pack is a higher version of hell. So I'm willing to do anything, to bear him a son... and maybe if I'm able to bear him a child, he may treat me better.

I took a deep breath, inhaled the morning air, closed my eyes, wishing that my life will miraculously change.

A soft knock on the door made me break from my meditation. My eyes shot open. "Come in," I said, my voice low and soft.

The door opened and the maid from earlier walked in slowly, her face bright and filled with smiles.

"Good morning Luna," She greeted bowing her head.

The word Luna sounded strange in my ears. I didn't feel like a Luna, I felt like a pupet.

My lips curled into a faint smile, "Can you just call me Kaelenya, that's my name."

She shook her head violently, her eyes rolling in confusion " I'm sorry, I can't do that....that is not acceptable here Luna."

I bit my lower lips and nodded my head, coming to terms with what she just said. "Okay... So what's your name?"

"Janet." She replied smiling.

My lips curled into a smile, "Pretty name."

"Thanks Luna," she paused and then continued. "Your wash time is 7am and breakfast with Alpha Roman is by 8am."

"What?" my eyes widened. "Breakfast with the Alpha? I thought I ate on my own in my chambers?"

"Yes you do, but it's our custom that the first week of marriage, the couple must dine together."

I swallowed hard, and took a deep breath. The thought of dinning with Roman, sent chills all over my body.

"It's fine Janet, thank you I will get ready."

She bowed her head and turned to leave, but she stopped by the door and turned back to me. "Make sure you get to the breakfast table before 8am, and do not wear any bright colour."

My chest rose up and down, "Why?" I asked curiously.

She stared at me for a while, her eyes filled with pity. "For your own safety." And with that she walked away, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

I gripped the sheets tighter. Oh goddess what have I gotten myself into...

I quickly flung the sheets off my legs and jumped out of bed and straight to the washroom. A typical luna has maids who wash her, but not me. Roman says I don't deserve such treatment, unless on a special occasion. He says I'm not worthy of it, I only get one maid, who serves me and that is Janet. And her job is just to update me on what I have to do for the day, and serve me my meals.

After having my shower, I quickly put on a dress from one of the dresses neatly arranged in the wardrobe. I made sure it wasn't bright at all. I didn't want any troubles.

I walked up to the mirror, staring sadly at my reflection. "Everything will be okay Kaelenya," I reassured myself, "All you have to do is obey the rules, and be invincible." I took a deep breath, my fingers straightened the uneven side of the gown, and I walked out of the room.

My whole body shook as I walked down the stairs, my heart was beating so loud that I could hear it, my fingers gripped the side of my gown for support.

When I got to the table it was filled with all sorts of meals. In my life, I had never seen something like this before. This wasn't breakfast, this was a feast.

Roman was not at the table, but there were some guards, standing at every side of the door, staring at me and bowing.

I didn't know what to do, whether or not to sit down, or to continue standing. My eyes shifted between the table and the chair and the guards and then back to myself.

What should I do? All my life, I have always been told what to do. Without any instructions, it feels strange.

The sound of footsteps descending the stairs startled me, and I turned immediately, and my eyes locked with that of Roman, as he walked down the stairs. It was like time stopped for me, and I was just lost staring at him. He looked even more handsome than the previous day.

"Get the hell out of my way," His voice thundered right in front of me. I had been lost staring at him, that I didn't even realize I was standing in his way.

"I flinched, "I...I... I'm sorry," I stammered moving aside, my hands shaking really bad.

His eyes swept from my head to my feet, disgust written all over his face. He didn't say another word, he just walked to the head seat, and took his seat.

What do I do now. Do I wait for him to ask me to sit, or do I just sit...No, I will just stand till he says I should sit.

"Are you waiting for a special invitation to sit down," His voice cold and irritated.

I didn't say a word, I just bowed my head and sat.

The maid slowly moved to the table, her footsteps were calm and controlled, like she was afraid to make any sound. She picked up a plate served a portion and placed it in front of him, and bowed her head. She picked up another plate with another portion, and placed it in front of me, bowing too. My eyes hovered around the plate placed in front of me, and the shiny fork and knife by the side.

My chest felt tight, and I bit my lower lips. I have never used a fork and knife before. Oh goddess what do I do? Do I hold the fork in my right hand and the knife in my left, or is it the other way around?

How do I handle this without Roman noticing.

My fingers clenched the fabric of my dress beneath the table. I shifted, with my knees pressing tight. My eyes flickered from him to the shining fork and knife staring at me. I reached out, then froze, the weight of his stare pinning me in place.

"Pick it up," his voice thundered, sharp and commanding. I jerked at the sound, my shoulders snapping stiff. Slowly, I raised my head a little, and our eyes locked. His blue eyes were cold and empty, drilling straight into mine like they could strip me bare. My throat tightened, and I swallowed hard.

"Pick up the cutlery set and eat. And make sure you don't pick it in the wrong hands." His words fell like stone, each one heavy with authority.

I froze on the spot, my fingers trembling against the table edge. What do I do?
