Chapter 6(I am Alpha)

Roman's pov

Stupid girl… foolish and incompetent. How dare she...how dare she spill my wine. So lousy and dull.

My hands curled into fists, with my nails biting into my palms. Heat rushed through my chest as I paced across the room, each step sharp against the floor.

And that foolish, sorry excuse of a bride. The very sight of her makes my skin crawl. How clueless can a person be? So blind, and naive?

I dragged a hand through my hair and let out a low, angry growl. The air around me felt heavy with rage.

“Alpha!” My guard burst in, breathless, bowing low with his head bent to the ground.

My eyes swept over him with disgust, "What is it?"

"The physician wants an audience with you."

My eyes moved to the door, and back to him, "What does he want." I asked my voice cold.

"He didn't say."

I wasn't in the mood, to see any body, but I can't turn back the physician, it might be something serious. "Let him in." I ordered, walking back to my seat.

He nodded and walked away.

"Good morning, Alpha Roman," he greeted, bowing low.

"What is it, Thomas?" I asked, my eyes cold and empty.

"The day for conception has been revealed."

Disgust twisted my face. "And?"

He cleared his throat, his gaze dropping to the floor. "It’s in three days’ time… exactly at midnight. That’s when the stars will align...perfect for conceiving a male child."

I took a deep breath, stood up from my chair and started pacing the room, my boot clicking against the floor. "Okay you may leave."

He bowed and said, "I left some tonic for you with the head maid."

"What for?" I asked.

"It's a necessary precaution to guarantee fertility."

My eyes moved from his head to his feet. "You may leave."

He bowed and walked away.

I sat back on the chair, my eyes narrowed, spending a night with that human being, makes my skin crawl. But I don't have a choice, it's either that, or I loose my title. And I am not loosing my title to anybody... Not even my brother Stephen.

He acts all supportive, but I know deep down, he can't wait to rip me off this title and take over it.

"Alpha." Joshua my head guard walked in and bowed down. "It's time for the meeting."

I nodded my head. "Are they all gathered?"

"Yes, they are."

I stood up, and straightened my dress. Picked up the glass of wine on the table, and gulped it down my throat. "Let's go." I ordered.

I could hear the murmuring and small talk from the elders from outside the hall. I paused at the door, took a deep breath and I threw my shoulders back, pulled my cloak around me and stormed into the hall.

Immediately they heard my footsteps, the hall became silent . Not a sound remained as I walked forward, each step deliberate, steady, charged with authority. I allowed my eyes to glance over their faces, one after another. As I expected, none of them could even look at me in the eye. They stared at the ground, like the cowards they are, afraid of my presence. Good.

I got to the head of the table, and sat down deliberately in the chair, with my hands on the arm rests. My fingers tapped once, twice as I still stared at them.

"Sit," I commanded, in a low tone, but it was as sharp.

Their chairs scraped on the floor, as they obeyed, and the sharp sound of it, filled the silence for a moment, before everywhere became still again. The air thickened, almost becoming suffocating. I could sense their fear, I could hear their hearts pounding.

I cleared my throat and started speaking, my voice was hoarse, demanding, with no room for question. "You all said you had something you want to talk about...now you have my attention."

The whole place was quite. My eyes moved from one person to the next. They all buried their heads to the ground.

"Did you request for a meeting for this nonsense!" my eyes widened.

One of the elders, elder Jeremiah stood up and cleared his throat, his voice low but firm. “It’s about your…your,” he turned and looked at the other elders, “your bride, Alpha.”

I lifted my head sharply, my eyes widening as a jolt shot through me. One leg slid off the chair’s support and pressed against the floor, grounding me.

“What about her?” My voice cut through the air, sharp and cold.

"According…," he cleared his shaky voice, swallowing hard, "According to the law, you are supposed to marry a bride from this pack."

I didn’t move. I didn’t even blink. The air felt heavy, pressing against my skin. My fists tightened together.

“Law?” I said slowly, each word slicing through the silence. My eyes narrowed, cold and unyielding. I took a single step forward, and he instinctively stepped back.

“How dare you…” My voice dropped, deep and dangerous. “How dare you question my decision.” I straightened to my full height, my shoulders squared, and power radiating from every inch of me. “I am Alpha Roman Theo… nobody questions me.”

The whole council became quiet, and they all buried their heads to the ground. I walked closer to him, that I could perceive his scent. "Are you trying to test me?” My head tilted to get a better look at his face. “You think because you are an elder you are untouchable?"

His whole body shook. “I…I” he stammered, unable to say the words.

I took a deep breath, and walked back to my chair, taking a sit and staring into each of their faces. "Okay, how many of you think that I made a mistake, marrying a bride from another pack...stand up."

The whole place fell silent again, nobody moved. I turned my eyes back to the elder standing. "So it's just you?"

He shook his head violently. "No, it's," he turned to the other elders who still had their heads buried to the ground.

"Joshua!" I barked.

Joshua ran in, immediately.

"Take this man out, and lock him up."

Jeremiah fell to the ground begging as Joshua dragged him out.

I came down from my chair again, my boot thundering on the floor. "This should serve as a warning to you all. Nobody challenges me...I am the law…Me, no one else."

They all nodded their heads as I turned and walked out. My word is final, whoever crosses me, doesn't live to tell the tale.

Hypocrites all of them. Secretly digging for my downfall. They think I don't know... They want me to marry from this pack...To marry one of their daughters so they can use her to kill me...I am not that stupid. I purposely married outside to someone who can never oppose me... someone who doesn't have any family backing.

I will teach them all lessons they would never forget. It seems they have forgotten who they are dealing with...I will remind them.
