Chapter 4 Mistaken Identity

By coincidence, both girls wore identical white blouses and pants that day, with matching hairstyles and similar complexions.

Could this be her missing sister? But why was she shorter? Mia's mind raced, trying to explain the phenomenon.

She took Lily's hand and pulled her to the mirror, pointing at their almost identical faces. "We look so much alike, don't we?" Mia said with friendly confidence, trying to reassure the frightened girl.

Lily nodded, answering timidly, "Yes." She felt a strange sense of security.

Mia's eyes flashed with excitement. "Could we be sisters?"

Lily thought for several seconds before responding, "But my mom only has me as a child."

Her words made Mia raise her eyebrows.

"Are you sure she's your biological mother? Have you two done DNA testing?"

At the mention of DNA testing, Lily fell silent.

Lily began to wonder if Mandy was really her biological mother, especially because of the way Mandy treated her. But she felt the need to prove she was loved.

"My dad and I did DNA testing. I'm definitely his biological daughter," she said. "My dad loves me very much."

Lily's words made Mia raise her eyebrows again.

"I don't think your dad is very nice," she said. "If he really loved you, he wouldn't let you cry here alone."

Lily felt hurt, lowered her head, and stopped talking.

Mia seized the opportunity. "Look how alike we are. Maybe you're my long-lost sister? How about we do a DNA test?"

Lily fell into contemplation. Mia wanted to inquire further about Lily's situation, but just then, Mandy's impatient voice came from outside the bathroom.

"Lily, did you fall into the toilet? Come out now!" Mandy called. "If you don't come out, you can stay in there forever!"

Hearing Mandy's voice, Lily instinctively shrank back, glanced at Mia, and prepared to find Mandy.

At that moment, Mia suddenly pushed Lily into the adjacent stall and walked straight toward the door herself.

Before Lily could understand what was happening, Mia was already confronting Mandy outside.

Though young, Mia had a strong temperament. When encountering people she disliked, she would directly challenge them. Those familiar with her had given her the nickname "Miss Feisty."

True to her nature, Mia wouldn't easily let Mandy off the hook.

"Mom, have you ever fallen into a toilet? Or did you used to live in one?" Mia asked Mandy directly.

Mandy, who had been absorbed in her phone, heard these words and her expression instantly turned cold. Had Lily changed so drastically? Was she still that timid, fearful little girl who cowered before her?

With a grim face, she scolded Mia.

"Lily, you dare curse me?"

Mia pouted, retorting, "You started it. Why can't I say the same?"

"You!"

Mandy's face reddened with anger. After confirming no one was around, she reached out and pinched Mia's arm.

The sharp pain made Mia's expression change, tears welling in her eyes.

Even so, Mandy wasn't satisfied and continued to berate her. "You little brat. I'll teach you a lesson this time. If you dare talk back again, I'll strangle you."

Mia suppressed her anger, knowing she was too young to contend with an adult.

But she had her own plan. Previously, she had heard Lily mention that her father deeply loved her. Mia intended to use Lily's father to teach this malicious woman who dared to hurt her a lesson.

Seeing Mia no longer daring to talk back, Mandy looked at her triumphantly.

Indeed, she was that cheap woman's child, just like her mother. If no one disciplined her, she definitely wouldn't behave.

Mandy dragged Mia back to the waiting area outside the operating room.

Time passed second by second. Inside, the complex surgery was nearing its end.

Exhausted, Elena stepped away from the operating table.

Nathan followed beside her, continuously expressing gratitude.

"Elena, thank you! Due to my limited skills, you had to perform surgery immediately after your flight."

Elena removed her surgical gloves and wiped the sweat from her forehead. "It's fine. Our duty is to save lives."

"Zander's father's surgical fee will be transferred to your account tomorrow," Nathan assured her. "I've already arranged a hotel room for you. I'll send you the address soon."

Elena nodded.

Just then, Nathan's assistant hurriedly approached.

"Dr. Parker, Harrison Frost from Frost Industries has contacted me. He's outside the operating room and wishes to meet with Dr. Johnson."

Hearing Harrison's name, Nathan furrowed his brow.

"What does he want?" he asked.
