SABRINA

“We are married.” I try to inform him again in case he already forgot which I know he did not.

“Only because the elders wanted it.” He answered and I scoffed.

“Why are you treating me this way?” I asked him.

“You got here a week ago, Sabrina. How do you expect me to treat you? I rejected you, remember.” Alpha Vincent replied and I bit the inside of my cheeks.

“Is there a reason why you hated me so much?” I asked him and he took a step closer towards me.

“I thought we both didn't need this marriage.” He said, his full pink lips set into a thin line. He is a beauty to behold.

A knock came at the door, distracting me before I could reply. The door was pushed open and a beautiful woman came in. It took me a minute before I finally remembered her face.

“Come here, Mirabella.” Alpha Vincent said and pulled her in for a hug. 

“I missed you,” Mirabella said as she kissed his lips right in front of me.

The scene unfolding right in front of me made me feel disgusted. 

“Who is she?” she asked, looking at me. 

“She is the Luna.” I heard Alpha Vincent reply and put on his shirt.

“Wow. You are so pretty, my Queen.” Mirabella said and smiled at Vincent.

“You didn't tell me she is such a pretty woman.” She added and I became tongue-tied. The rumours I heard from the maid are true. She is the woman he fell in love with.

“If you are done, you can excuse us. The door is that way.” Alpha Vincent said and clenched my fist hard against each other.

“But I am your Luna”, I managed to say and he chuckled.

“It is just a title. An arranged marriage between you and me.” He said and I knew better than anyone that I should have left when he told me to.

“Now leave if you don't want me to disgrace you more.” He said in a low tone but I heard him.

I turned to leave but his next words made me halt in my footsteps.

“You ask me why I treated you this way. It's because I do not love you. I married you because the elders want it but she is the woman I wanted right from day one.” He said and those words felt like a dagger to the walls of my heart.

I pulled the door open and ran out of the room. The maid ran after me, telling me to stop but I dared not. It's not as if she is prettier than me. Mirabella is not so why?

How could fate be so cruel towards me?

The rest of the week passed by in a blur without seeing Alpha Vincent. I eat alone and do everything alone. I assist him with the Alpha meeting and focus on building my clothing brand.

Though I didn't leave the castle most of the time, I didn't feel lonely either except for the fact that I felt his absence. The last time I caught a glimpse of him was when his Beta got attacked and he had to visit him at the Pack Doctor's Place. 

I came to complain of getting a constant headache and this was how I met the king. Rumours begin to circulate around the castle that the Alpha and his Luna seem to have grown apart. Father didn't call in to check but I know he must have heard about it since he worked at the castle.

“My Queen. You have a letter from the king.” My maid said and I told her to come in.

I took the envelope from her and read what was written on the paper.

“We have to talk. Meet me at the waterfall.” I read the letter and placed it on the bed 

“It seems I will have to see the king after all,” I said and stood up.

“What do I need to do, my Queen?” my maid asked.

“Nothing. I don't need to change my dress for someone who doesn't value me. Do I?” I responded and she led the way.

We both left the room and went outside but I wasn't expecting to see Mirabella. She was probably on her way outside because one of the guards was trying to open the car door for her 

“Luna,” Mirabella called when she saw me. 

“Are you also going out?” She asked and I stopped.

“No. The king wants to see me.” I informed her.

“The king?” She asked in disbelief. As if I am lying m

“Yes,” I replied but she didn't seem to believe me.

“Oh. Maybe he wanted to inform you about the fact that he will be throwing a party tomorrow for me. I would like to invite you too.” Mirabella said and I chuckled.

“What makes you think I will come?” I asked her.

“Because you need to know he has always been mine. He married you because I am not a member of this Pack. We both fell in love but he had to choose you because he was forced to” She said and I should have known better that she is just a snake hiding under the green grass.

“Enough. If you are not so pathetic, there is no point in explaining all these to me.” I said and her eyes boiled with anger.

“What?” she asked surprised.

“And moreover, the party is not held because of you. It was organised for everyone to attend and what makes you think I will drag the king with you.” I told her and she scoffed.

“Let's leave.” I told the maid and Mirabella screamed out. 

Mirabella can't do anything because I am her Luna and whether she belongs to the king, there are boundaries that she can't get past.

On getting to the waterfall, the king was waiting with his Beta, Roman. His Beta excused us and I stood a few meters away from him. There is no point in admiring his beauty, he always looks dashing in whatever he wears.

“You must have heard the rumors circulating and tomorrow, my mother will be back in the castle.” Alpha Vincent said.

“It's not my fault that those rumors circulated.” I replied and he looked at me.

“Oh. Are you going to tell me that I neglected my duties” he asked, the corners of his lips pulled up. Today, he is putting on a black pants with a grey shirt.

“You just said it yourself” I said, using his words against him.

“Anyways, I want you to be on your best behaviour tomorrow .” He said and thrust his hand inside his pocket.

“We will have to fool them that we are perfectly okay together.” He added and I don't seem surprised by what he said.

“I am sorry but I am terrible at pretending” I told him and he walked towards me, closing the distance between us until I could smell his expensive cologne.

“Then I can as well, tell Mother that you are not worthy of me” He said and I parted my lips to refute his claim.

“Your boyfriend will be there tomorrow.” I said and it felt as if a bucket of cold water was poured on me.

“What is his name?” He said and rubbed his temples while I looked at him with shock evident in my eyes.

“Brandon?” He asked and heart skipped a beat.

“What?” I croaked out and held the side of my dress.

“I won't say more than that. You know what to do right?” Alpha Vincent said and walked away.

“My Queen.” My maid supported me from behind before I could fall on my butt.

There's no way that Brandon will be coming tomorrow. The king already found out everything about me. 

What am I going to do?
