Chapter 5 CEO Of Bad Decisions
Torin POV
“Beta, are you sure Lila can be found? We've combed the entire woods, but she hasn't been found yet,” Danny questioned me.
He was beginning to lose hope in the search for Lila. I guess he never believed it would turn out this difficult.
We all assumed finding Lila was going to be an easy ride. But she proved us wrong.
After an hour of immense searching, most of the male wolves have lost hope of ever bringing Lila home alive.
“You all are so stupid and lazy. What if this was a battlefield? It makes me wonder if you have the IQ of a toad, Danny.” I blasted him in the presence of everyone.
I can tolerate anything but definitely not cowardice. As one of the longest-serving warriors of the Ironhawl pack, I expected him to set a good example to others.
But no, he decided to be a dickhead.
“There's no way she could have gone far. We need to keep moving forward until she's found.” I set the record straight just to let anyone know that we aren't backing down anytime soon.
“I don't mind how long it takes us to find her. Remember what the Alpha said about coming back without Lila?” I refreshed everyone's memory, should they claim to be diagnosed with dementia.
“My instincts tell me she might be somewhere around here. I can perceive her scent." I raised my head to sniff the atmosphere down my nostrils.
Suddenly, my eyes turned dark and scary, and one freaked out.
I looked behind him to find a lady who shared the same similarities with Lila.
“Go get her. Don't let her run away,” I ordered the warriors.
Without hesitation, they went after the lady.
She took a heel when she spotted the hefty-looking men behind her.
She couldn't understand why they kept chasing her.
Rodrigo POV
We chased her until she stepped on a stone and fell to the ground.
“Who are you, men? Get your hands off me.” She turned around to plead, her eyes popping out.
That was the moment we realized we had the wrong person.
“Damn!” I shook my head disdainfully. We just made a fool of ourselves without actually realizing that.
“What a striking resemblance. We apologize for the inconvenience. There must be a mix-up somewhere,” I apologized to the lady.
“Fuck your apology.” She retorted. The clapback came at us so quickly.
She spoke as though she'd been waiting for the perfect time to vent her frustration on someone else.
“Did you realize what just happened?” She gripped my shirt so firmly, her blunt nails scratching the surface of my skin.
She practically restricted my airflow. I was this close to having an encounter with a harbinger of death.
“I nearly lost my pregnancy due to your negligence. How do you explain that? I'm not allowing y'all to leave here without paying for the damages.” She threatened us.
“Madam, please let go of me.
I just apologized. Is that enough already?” I frowned.
I was losing my patience.
We have a lot more tedious tasks ahead of us, and this lady is slowing us down.
I haven't laid my hands on any lady before, and I don't intend to start now, especially a pregnant lady.
The moon goddess will berate me for such acts.
Torin POV
I stood from afar to await Lila being brought to me by the warriors.
I was already beaming with a smile that Lila was finally captured. 25 minutes had gone by, and my men hadn't shown up yet.
“What could be keeping them? She ought to be brought here already. I don't understand how difficult it is to capture a pregnant teenage girl.” I thought.
After minutes of waiting, I got tired and decided to go see what was happening.
To his greatest shock, I saw a mysterious pregnant lady gripping Rodrigo's shirt. She's got the strongest grip of a warrior.
I could put my money on her in a wrestling bout.
“What the heck is happening here? Where's Lila? And why is this lady gripping your shirt?” I roared.
I tried to grasp what was going on, only to end up losing some brain cells. I stopped racking my brain to let Rodrigo go talking.
“We thought she was Lila. She turned out to be a different person. Now she's requesting a payoff before she would let go,” Rodrigo narrated in a faint tone.
He was struggling to move his vocal cords. I haven't seen him this terrified before.
“Madam, what's the matter? You weren't our target. Let go of him.”
I step in like a leader!
“We've got a more serious situation ahead of us. We wouldn't want any delay from you at this moment,” I explained further, like a perfect gentleman.
This is the calmest I've been all my life.
“Then be ready to beat a pregnant lady to death because there's no way I'm letting go of him unless he pays me off,” she insisted.
“Pays you off?” I giggled. “For what exactly? We don't remember buying anything from you. “
“Woman, let us go. I would rather not do something I'll regret later. Leave while you still can." I displayed a dagger to threaten her.
She just awakened my inner wolf I didn't want to unleash.
It will require the involvement of the moon goddess to rescue her right now.
