Chapter Three
Chapter Three
My first instinct was to scramble out the other side, but before I could move, a pair of ice-cold hands closed around my ankle. The boss dragged me out from under the bed.
"Did you sleep in my bed?"
I was too terrified to even open my eyes. I just signed frantically.
Please... please let me go... I didn't mean to sleep in your bed...
Not to be rude, but what is she even doing with her hands?
Is the Big Boss waiting for her to open her eyes so he can kill her?
She's done. She's about to die. I'm going to check out another room. Later, guys.
Watching the comments drift past, I steeled myself and opened my eyes.
He wasn't the hideous monster I'd imagined. When the man in front of me took off his mask, he was startlingly handsome, with clean, sharp features.
Every single thing about him was exactly my type.
I froze for a second. Then he leaned in close and sniffed at me.
I kept signing. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sleep in your bed.
The boss nodded. "I can read sign language. Don't be scared."
I was stunned. What kind of horror game was this? The boss knew ASL?
He asked me again. "Did you sleep in my bed?"
Girl, DON'T answer! Last time someone said no, he ate them in one bite.
The time before that, a girl said yes, and he split her right down the middle and fed her to the kids.
So what was I supposed to do? "Yes" got you killed, and "no" got you killed. Either way I was dead. But since he could read my signing, I might as well negotiate. At least I could die with some dignity.
I kept signing. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. Could you please not split me in half?
A flicker of surprise crossed the boss's face. "You want to touch my abs?"
I jolted. Excuse me?
Sorry, I said, could you please not split me in half. I signed it again.
The boss thought for a moment, then quietly lifted his shirt. "Are my abs really that good? You want to see them that badly?"
Solid muscle appeared in front of me. I wiped away the tears the fear had squeezed out of me and gently touched him.
The boss's neck went red in an instant, all the way up to the tips of his ears.
That gave me a little courage. I kept signing.
Could you let me go? I'd like to live a little longer.
The boss considered this for a few seconds. "You're the first person who's ever said they wanted to sleep with me."
And with that, he scooped me up and dove under the covers.
The two kids crawled out from the blankets too and settled down right next to me.
I struggled to poke my head out from under the covers, face to face with the boss, and kept signing.
After we sleep, will you let me out?
His eyes darkened bit by bit. The veins stood out on the backs of his hands, and he spoke through gritted teeth.
"I've never met a woman who pushes her luck like you."
With that, he leapt out of bed and started taking off his clothes.
