Chapter 3 My Mom is a Great Beauty

At these words, Ava's lips tightened into a thin line, her face looking terrible.

Some parents around us also turned to look this way. Ella was extremely nervous, even wondering if she had caused trouble.

But right now, she didn't know how to handle the situation.

"Sophia, Tyler asked me to come, and besides, I've been handling basically everything related to Jasper's school before."

I was disgusted by Ava's attitude, so I said bluntly, "Ms. Davis, we're not close, and besides, I'm Jasper's mother. I don't care what you did before, but now that I'm here, please leave."

Seemingly not expecting me to say this, Ava's fake smile almost fell apart. "...Ms. Brown, I know more about Jasper's situation at school, and besides, Tyler and I already agreed that after the parent-teacher meeting, I'd take Jasper out to eat."

I lifted my eyelids to look at her, my gaze terrifyingly cold.

Ava couldn't help but shiver, looking at me with suspicion in her eyes. I knew she was surprised by my transformation.

Her affair with Tyler was already an open secret in this circle. Everyone thought Ava was Tyler's wife.

Regarding all the gossip, I had never confronted her publicly, and even when questioning Tyler, I maintained my composure, because I had Jasper. I wanted to give Jasper a complete family. But all along, I was wrong. My constant tolerance only led to them pushing further.

So, if I still had any self-respect, I couldn't continue like this.

I turned to look at Ella and smiled gently. "Ms. Garcia, I've been a bit busy before. It seems my husband has been having his friend come, but now that I'm here, can I go in?"

Hearing this, Ella froze for a moment. Her expression was complicated, looking somewhat nervous.

I saw Ella glance at Ava, then could only say, "Yes, the parent-teacher meeting requires the child's parents to attend. Since Jasper's mother came in person, of course you should go in first."

I smiled politely. "Yes, then irrelevant people shouldn't go in, or it'll make others laugh."

Ava's face looked even worse. She didn't even want to pretend anymore, but because parents were coming and going around us, she had to maintain her image.

So she forced herself to appear calm and generous. "Ms. Brown, why don't I go in with you? Jasper likes me too."

My expression changed slightly. "Is Ms. Davis not only interested in other people's husbands, but also in other people's children?"

This light remark completely shamed Ava. Some parents passing by also heard my words, and strange looks were cast at Ava.

"Isn't that the cellist who performed at the theater a few days ago?"

"What's going on? It sounds like... a mistress?"

"Probably is. Didn't the rumors say so before? So this is Tyler's actual wife. I bet she's been holding back too long and is venting here."

"This woman came to the last parent-child activity, and she was so close with Tyler. I thought she was Tyler's wife, but turns out she's not."

The endless chatter left Ava completely humiliated. She looked flustered and at a loss, only able to stare at me with resentful eyes.

A barely noticeable mocking smile appeared at the corner of my mouth. I left the "mess" for her to clean up herself, then walked into the school with my head held high.

Walking all the way to the third floor, I came to Jasper's classroom door. The children were all gathered at the entrance waiting for their parents, and I spotted Jasper right away.

Jasper noticed me too. His little expression instantly became excited, and he ran toward me happily. "Mommy!"

A warm feeling surged through my heart. I crouched down to hug Jasper and asked gently, "There was traffic on the way. I'm a bit late. Did you wait long?"

Jasper's little hands hugged my neck, his eyes full of happiness. "It's okay, Mommy. You're not late. Lots of kids' parents haven't arrived yet."

I patted Jasper's little head, stood up and took his hand. But Jasper pulled me over to the other children, proudly introducing me, "This is my beautiful mommy I told you about. My mommy is a super gorgeous lady!"

I was surprised that Jasper would introduce me to the children like this. Instantly, my eyes welled up with tears, my lips trembling slightly, tears swirling in my eyes, but I held back this emotion.

"Wow, your mom is really beautiful, like a movie star."

"So pretty! I want to grow up to be as tall as your mom."

After the parent-teacher meeting ended, since there was no afternoon class, I first took Jasper to eat the hamburgers he wanted, then spent a long time with him at the children's playground, and also bought him lots of clothes and toys.

To me, this wasn't spoiling the child, but making up for lost time with him.

When we got home, it was already past seven in the evening. I walked in holding Jasper's hand and immediately noticed Tyler sitting expressionless on the sofa. I was startled, not expecting him to be home at this hour.

When he saw me, his gaze turned cold for a moment, but when his eyes shifted to Jasper, he instantly transformed into a loving father, beckoning to Jasper. Jasper ran over and hugged him affectionately. "Daddy, I had so much fun with Mommy today. Jasper hasn't been this happy in a long time."

Hearing Jasper's words, I saw Tyler look at me with a strange expression, as if suspecting I had done something to Jasper.

I sneered inwardly. He must be unhappy about me becoming close with Jasper. This would ruin his and Ava's plans.

"That's good. Did you eat?" Tyler affectionately patted Jasper's little head.

Jasper rubbed his round belly. "Mommy and I ate hamburgers. I ate two!"

"That's a lot. You should eat less of that stuff in the future. It's not good for you."

Jasper pouted. "Okay."

"Go take a bath with the maid first. After your bath, I'll tell you a story."

Jasper instantly got excited. "Okay!"

After the maid took Jasper upstairs, I didn't want to say much to Tyler, so I also wanted to go upstairs, but he stopped me.

"Sophia, is this necessary?"

I stopped in my tracks, surprised that he called my name. In these past few years, he hadn't called my name, always just asking directly or using "hey" instead.

I turned around, looking at him expressionlessly. "What?"

"I know about what happened at the kindergarten today. Who told you to go?"
