Chapter 9
Upon hearing these words, the Nordic man acted like a fool. He walked towards the nearby crossroads, along with his brothers, as if under some kind of spell.
Immediately afterwards, screams could be heard. Several people died under the wheels of the vehicle. It could be said that as a sorcerer, Todd Elsey didn’t even need to lift a hand to kill others. A little trickery was all it took to determine their fate.
After about 20 minutes, Shangguan and the other person slowly woke up. When Juliet Hazlitt first awoke, she looked around in surprise. She immediately became alert and examined her own body. She found that there weren’t any obvious injuries or damages on her body at all.
At that moment, she and Shangguan Ruoshui were also a bit surprised. Those bandits didn’t do anything to them at all. How was that possible? Surely, it wasn’t because these two women didn’t look attractive enough.
But just as Shangguan Ruoshui and the others were lost in thought, a voice suddenly rose slowly.
“What are you staring at? Everyone’s gone. Don’t we need to go home too?” Todd Elsey suddenly said.
When these words were spoken, both of them stared at Todd Elsey. After all, during their unconsciousness, only Todd Elsey remained unharmed. Could this mean that Todd Elsey was somehow involved in this incident?
But for Juliet Hazlitt, it was completely unacceptable to believe such a thing. After all, she knew exactly what Todd Elsey was capable of. Even if he was strong and physically capable, his strength wasn’t that impressive. It was far too weak for him. How could he possibly compete with those powerful Nordic men?
“It was you who dealt with them all,” Juliet Hazlitt asked, barely believing it.
At that moment, Todd Elsey smiled and said, “No! I called the police as soon as you started fighting. The police arrived just as you lost consciousness. So, everything has been taken care of now.”
It’s a fairly reasonable explanation, or at least one that’s believable to most people. During the fight, Juliet Hazlitt had no idea how much time had passed. After that, she lost consciousness, and she had no idea how long she was unconscious. Juliet checked her phone and saw that there was some signal. She turned her head aside and then went back home with Shangguan Ruoshui and the others.
However, what was surprising was that none of those people were seen in her neighborhood. There were also no listening devices or anything like that in her home. From then on, Todd Elsey carefully protected Juliet Hazlitt every day.
。
However, although she followed Juliet Hazlitt every day, mistakes still happened from time to time. The next morning, just as Juliet Hazlitt left the company with Guan, she noticed a strange smell. Her eyebrows furrowed in concern. By the time she realized what was happening, it was already too late. Everything went black before her eyes, and she collapsed to the ground.
In the last moment he remembered, Shangguan was taken away by someone. She tried to get up, but the constant feelings of weakness throughout her body caused her to collapse and lose consciousness.
When she woke up again, she had no idea what time it was. He immediately called Todd Elsey.
“Todd Elsey, Shangguan has been captured.” Juliet Hazlit’s face turned pale with panic.
But at this moment, Todd Elsey had a furrowed brow. A murderous intent flashed in his eyes as he rushed toward the address where Juliet Hazlitt was. In just a moment, he stood in front of her. Juliet’s little face was pale, her eyes red and swollen—clearly, she had just cried. Moreover, she had a very close relationship with Shangguan. With such things happening to Shangguan, it was natural for her to be anxious.
“Todd Elsey, what should we do now? Should we call the police?” Juliet Hazlitt wasn’t sure what to do. Although he seemed capable, in reality, he was still just a man when faced with actual problems. Especially when it came to her friend being in such a situation.
“Let’s wait before calling the police. For now, let’s go over there. Otherwise, it’ll be too late later.” Todd Elsey said in a low voice. Then he walked over to the BMW next to Juliet Hazlitt, pulled her into the passenger seat, and started the car.
But at this moment, Juliet Hazlitt said with a gloomy expression, “If you don’t call the police now, what are you going to do? Who can you possibly save now? Do you even know where they are?”
After saying those words, Juliet Hazlitt took out her phone and dialed the emergency number. Todd Elsey had no time to pay attention to Juliet Hazlitt at that moment. He started the car, and its speed immediately reached its maximum. The car rushed forward without any slowdown, even when turning corners.
Just as it seemed like the car was about to collide with another vehicle, Chu Feng skillfully turned the car around, somehow managing to avoid the collision. It seemed like he had once again managed to resolve the crisis.
Because the speed was simply too fast, the trees around them rushed backward. Juliet Hazlitt clung tightly to her seatbelt, afraid that she might be flung out of the car. She could feel that her car was moving at an incredible speed—almost on par with professional racing cars.
Juliet Hazlit’s face showed clear suspicion. She couldn’t understand why Todd Elsey was driving in such a manner right now. After all, even the best drivers in their organization wouldn’t use such tactics, would they?
At that moment, Juliet Hazlitt’s small face turned pale, and she appeared extremely frightened. But then, she noticed that Todd Elsey was holding the steering wheel with one hand, while his other hand moved away from the wheel, his fingers tapping continuously, as if he were doing some kind of calculation. This made Juliet Hazlitt forget her fear for a moment. She stared intently at the man before her, realizing that he seemed different from the person she had seen before.
Moreover, at that moment, Todd Elsey seemed like a wild beast that chose its victims carefully before attacking them. It was truly terrifying.
The car was going very fast. Fortunately, Juliet Hazlitt had experienced such speeds before; otherwise, she would likely have been vomiting non-stop.
I don’t know how long it went on. After about five minutes, Todd Elsey finally braked the car. Huge tire marks, several dozen meters long, were left behind. Just as the car seemed about to crash into a building in the demolition area, it slowly came to a stop. At that moment, I could smell the scent of mosquito nets rubbing against the ground.
Todd Elsey ignored Juliet Hazlitt beside him. Instead, he quickly opened the car door and headed toward the dismantling area. Juliet Hazlitt was even more astonished. Todd Elsey’s steps were steady, with a slight hint of agility. Could he really be an expert? This only increased her doubts.
