Chapter 5: The Handsome man at the gate

Myra looked at how her mom was pulling her away and was speechless. Her lips twitched several times because she didn't know what to say in that situation. Her father was also frowning as he walked forward. Myra didn't understand why the two of them looked so tense.

"Mom?" As soon as she was shoved into the car, Myra looked at her mother, who had already locked the car doors and called out in puzzlement.

"Baby, you absolutely can not get close to that man. No matter what. Do you hear me?" Her mother said earnestly. She really meant every word she said. Her worries were also sincere. Myra managed to deduce this when she looked at her mother.

"But, why?" Myra didn't understand. She just knew the dark lycan was a dangerous man, to what extent? She didn't know. Rather, she wasn't concerned to know. After all, to her, men were all the same. Well, except her father.

"Baby, I can't answer that. Please just do as I say, okay?" Her mother said and held her hands. She really hoped Myra had taken her words to heart. That was understandable. Who in their right mind would allow their one and only precious daughter to hang out with a monster who would later kill her, too?

Her father, who was the alpha, sighed when he saw that Myra was silent.

"Myra, we are doing this for your own good. Just trust us, okay?" His voice was very powerful, so he had to tone it down somehow so as not to sound overly intimidating to his daughter. His daughter was precious to them, and he couldn't bear to see her get hurt.

"Okay." Myra said. Wasn't it just a man? She would definitely avoid him if she saw him in the future. She wasn't interested in men or women anyway. People who betrayed her were from both genders. How could she have the nerve to associate herself with those people. Somehow, Myra felt that her parent's worried were uncalled for, but since they were both looking out for her, she was grateful. They never discarded her because she was wolfless despite the pressure they faced from the members of the pack.

When they arrived home, Myra couldn't sleep as she tossed and turned. She didn't know what was wrong with her, but as soon as she lay down on the bed, all she could think about and see was that man. The dark lycan. Myra was confused because she thought she was numb to such stuff. But at that moment, she could still feel his hands on her waist as he guided her on how to dance, the way he stood up for her when those people were bullying her and the nonchalance he displayed later on as though he didn't want to be associated with worldly things. Myra found his traits somewhat similar to hers. Only that even though she was cold and indifferent, she wasn't overly ruthless as the dark lycan. But why was it that she couldn't get to forget him?

Suddenly, she remembered the pull she felt earlier at the ball event. She shook her head the next moment. As a wolfless girl, why would the moon goddess choose another mate for her? That was definitely impossible. Myra, at some point, decided that she was merely overthinking stuff and that whatever she felt earlier was nothing related to the thoughts running in her mind. She decided not to dwell on that topic. After clearing her thoughts, she closed her eyes and slept. Well, she didn't sleep as smoothly as she thought she would because every once in a while she would dream about the dark lycan. Myra didn't mind. She assumed that all those would pass with time and she would forget about him.

When Myra arrived at the gates of her university, she could hear whispers. The students were calling her a wolfless girl as they giggled. It was as if they found joy in other people's misfortunes. Myra's eyes turned cold, and she looked at them with a sharp gaze. The students huddled in the group couldn't help but shrink back. They thought Myra was easy to bully, but her gaze a few seconds ago was frightening. When she saw that they had scurried away, Myra scoffed and put her hands in her pant pockets. She couldn't care less about those rowdy students, as long as they didn't provoke her. She always allowed them to badmouth her, but she still had a bottom line.

She threw the thoughts at the back of her mind and hurried off to class. Fortunately; the lecturer had yet to enter, so she felt relieved. As soon as she sat down and took out her book, the lecturer made his way to class. Myra was speechless. Couldn't he have waited for at least two more minutes?

Myra always had a sharp and extraordinary brain. What people found hard was a piece of cake to her. She didn't dare tell this to anyone. What if she got killed or betrayed because of that? She always kept things to herself. The betrayal she encountered once was enough for her. She didn't want to feel the same anguish over again. She also avoided making friends. The only time she would talk to people in class would be when they were placed in groups to do a certain project. Other than that, there was nothing else she wanted more than staying away from people. Noisy and crumped places were not her cup of tea. She always felt irritated around large groups of people.

As she was heading for the gate, she managed to catch a few words people were saying. They were talking about an insanely handsome guy at the gate. They weren't sure what he was there for because his cold and frightening aura shooed them away before they could even approach him. Even though he was a mask, it still couldn't hide how handsome he looked. Many people wondered how he'd look like beneath that mask. Would they dare approach such a person? Of course not. Myra felt that these things weren't any of her concerns. She just wanted to rush home and sleep. Her whole body was tired. She was also a picky eater. She never did the meals from the school cafeteria. She would either carry her own packed lunch or go home to eat. She also had only two restaurants in the capital that catered to her palate. As she thought about this, her legs quickened their pace as she headed to the gate. She frowned when she saw a large crowd of people gathered around. She wondered how she would manage to squeeze past them. .

Fortunately, after having trouble passing through the crowd, she managed to pass through. Before she could heave a sigh of relief;

"We meet again." A voice said. This made Myra freeze in place for a moment. She thought she was hallucinating, but after looking up, she knew she wasn't overthinking or overhearing things.

Crap! Why was he there?
