Chapter 1 | A Proof

"I sacrificed so much in this marriage; did he betray me?" she said.

My lips trembled, and my tears fell by themselves.

I squeezed my husband's white shirt; it had a red stain.

"Did he do it with another woman?" he said in a low voice.

I also found underwear in my husband's study. It wasn't mine! Did it belong to that woman?

"Seven years, does it all have to end?" I sat down weakly, remembering that during the marriage her husband had been cold.

Seven years ago, I married Damian. My parents didn't agree at first, because Damian was just an unemployed man.

I secretly helped Damian get a job and was chosen to be the director of a large company.

"It's about time you knew who I am, Damian!" she shouted.

But a year ago, there was a woman named Eliza. She was Damian's secretary, the daughter of a manager.

With Eliza's help, Damian gained many business partners. And Damian always made millions of dollars in profit.

Damian pampered Eliza even more and ignored himself.

"It's just that Damian didn't say that he had cheated on me," I said while wiping away my tears.

I decided to come to his office, looking for evidence that they had indeed had an affair.

When I arrived at the company, I asked the receptionist.

The receptionist smiled at me and said that Damian was in a meeting.

"Can I wait for my husband inside?" I asked with a small smile.

"Okay, Mrs. Sam, you can wait inside."

I smiled, then stepped into Damian's room.

My chest hurt; when I opened the door, I found Eliza sitting casually on my husband's chair.

I walked over to her.

"Sorry, Mrs. Sam, I was just waiting for Mr. Sam," she said, getting up from her seat.

I looked lazily at her. "Just waiting?"

"Stop pretending, there's no Damian here. I know your heart," I said in a stern voice.

"What do you mean?" She said it as if she didn't understand me.

"Are you stupid, not understanding my point?" I raised my voice slightly.

I was very annoyed with him; it was obvious that he was just pretending to be nice, especially when Damian was around.

"It's good that you've figured it all out," he said with a quiet laugh.

The words turned cold; there was no smooth tone of voice when with Damian.

"Have you seen the evidence I deliberately left for you?" he whispers right in my ear.

My blood boiling, I try to keep my hand from slapping him.

"Look, the marks on my neck. This is also your husband's doing," he said, smiling at me.

"Stop! You don't deserve to treat me like this," I snapped.

"I'm not bad! It's all your fault for not being able to give satisfaction," she said in a mocking voice.

"Enough! You don't need to talk nonsense anymore." I was about to leave, but Eliza stopped me.

"Why are you in such a hurry to leave? Don't you want to know the truth?" She gave me a dismissive look, as if to say I won.

"Just so you know, Damian would have preferred me," she continued with a chuckle.

I prepared to slap her, but before I slapped her cheek, Eliza first slapped her own cheek many times.

I was quite surprised by her actions, as she dared to hurt herself.

"What are you doing?" I said as I pulled her hand away.

Eliza even hit her head against the wall several times, which bruised her forehead.

"Forgive me, Mrs. Sam, please forgive me!" I naturally panicked and tried to get rid of her hand that kept holding my leg.

"Caroline! What are you doing?" I heard Damian's stern voice.

I looked at Damian, who seemed to be very emotional.

I approached him, trying to explain the truth.

But before I could explain, Damian slapped my cheek very hard.

"You slapped me?" I said in a low voice.

I held my cheek, which felt hot and also sore. My tears were about to fall.

"Why did you hurt Eliza?" snapped Damian.

"I didn't hurt her; she hurt herself!" I yelled back.

"Nonsense!" Damian then helped Eliza up slowly.

"Mrs. Sam just misunderstood; she saw me in Mr. Sam's room earlier. I was just waiting for Mr. Sam to finish the meeting," he explained with his face down.

"Lies!" shouted Caroline.

"Shut up! No need to argue. I trust Eliza more," Damian snapped.

"I'm your wife; why would you trust her?"

I cried, not expecting my husband to trust another woman.

"Your wounds need to be treated," Damian said without hesitation as he gently stroked Eliza's bruises.

"My leg hurts too," he said in a low voice.

Damian carried Eliza in his arms, like a newlywed.

"If anything happens to Eliza, I will punish you." I couldn't believe my husband could be this angry.

I clearly saw Eliza smiling mockingly at me.

"Apparently the evidence is clear," I said in a low voice.

I beat my chest, which feels tight; if they weren't having an affair, Damian wouldn't be that angry.

"Damian. If you are proven to have betrayed me, you will regret it!" Caroline said.

I walked out of Damian's room, seeing Damian helping the sneaky woman walk.

"Don't be afraid," Damian said as he gently stroked Eliza's back.

Eliza still kept her head down, as if I had really hurt her.

"Wait for me at home! And don't make any more trouble," he said and left with Eliza.

With an overwhelming feeling of pain, I left her office.

I decided to stop by a cafe and ordered a coffee.

I was confused by this situation; I loved Damian so much.

"I've been here for almost two hours," she said, intending to leave. But Caroline decided against it when she saw Damian and Eliza enter the cafe.

Caroline's tears fell again; it really hurt. Seeing her own husband more intimate with another woman.

"I will avenge everything!" Caroline wiped her tears, then hurriedly left the cafe.
