Chapter 4 | Divorce

Caroline went to a cafe to meet with the lawyer who would help her with her divorce from Damian.

"I'm sorry, you must have been waiting a long time." Caroline then sat down in a chair.

"No, I just arrived myself," he replied, smiling at Caroline.

Before going to the cafe, Caroline had of course gone to a beauty salon to pamper herself. She didn't care how much money she had to spend.

The clothes Caroline was wearing were now expensive, no longer simple clothes.

"This is proof that my ex-husband had an affair with his personal secretary," I said as I handed over the evidence.

"It's good that you have evidence. Your divorce will definitely be faster," he said as he took the evidence.

"I want tomorrow, me and him to be officially divorced. I don't want to wait too long," I said firmly.

"Okay, I'll try."

"If you can do it, I'll add to your salary. Whatever you want." The lawyer smiled, of course he could do it, especially since there was already evidence.

"Of course. It's a pleasure working with you," he said.

"This afternoon, I will personally deliver the divorce papers to your husband, and if he still refuses, he will face serious consequences," he continued, making Caroline smile.

"Great. I'll wait for the good news," said Caroline.

The matter with the lawyer was settled, and now she wanted to go shopping.

"Jack, take me to the mall," she said as she got into the car.

"Yes, ma'am." Jack hurriedly got into the car and drove off as his young mistress desired.

Caroline certainly shopped a lot, buying various expensive clothes, bags, shoes, and other items.

"Honey, why did you stop so suddenly?" Eliza asked irritably.

"I saw Caroline," he replied.

"That's impossible, Damian. She's just a village girl. If she wants to go shopping, she'll go to the market at most." Damian looked at Eliza.

What Eliza said was true; Caroline couldn't possibly go to a big mall. And the woman was also dressed luxuriously and fashionably.

"Come on, why are you thinking about that woman? Do you miss her?" said Eliza with an annoyed expression.

"No, dear, I was just surprised. That woman looks like Caroline. If it really is Caroline, we'll be in trouble too. I don't want you to get hurt by her again," replied Damian, gently stroking Eliza's head.

"You're right, but it's impossible for that woman to be here. Never mind, let's go shopping again. Don't think about that woman," she said, pulling Damian's hand.

Two hours later, Damian and Eliza finished shopping and arrived at Damian's house. They were confident because Caroline hadn't returned yet.

"Honey, is that woman still mad at you? She hasn't come back," asked Eliza.

"Maybe she'll come back later. Let's not talk about that woman anymore, she's a stupid woman!" said Damian irritably.

"Is there a problem with me being at your house?" said Eliza, resting her head on Damian's shoulder.

"There's no one here. The two maids have also gone home," replied Damian, kissing Eliza's forehead.

"All right, honey, let's enjoy our time together before that lowly woman returns."

Damian smiled. Eliza wrapped her arms around Damian's neck, and just as Damian was about to kiss Eliza, there was a knock on the door.

"Damn! Is that woman back?" Eliza thought to herself.

"Wait a minute, I'll open the door first."

"Wait, dear. What if it's Caroline? She'll get angry again when she sees me here," Eliza said softly.

"If it is her, I guarantee she won't hurt you." Eliza replied with a slight nod.

Damian then opened the door, followed by Eliza behind him. However, they were both surprised to see that it was a man who had arrived.

"Excuse me, who are you?" asked Damian.

"Are you Damian Sam? Can I come in and talk to you? I'm Regan's lawyer," he explained.

"Regan's lawyer? Isn't he a famous and great lawyer?" Damian thought to himself.

"All right. Please come in," said Damian.

They immediately went inside. Eliza went to make drinks.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Regan. I'm Miss Caroline's lawyer. I'm here to help with your divorce from Miss Caroline," he said, which surprised Damian.

"That's not possible. My wife and I will never get divorced," Damian said firmly.

"How could Caroline hire the best lawyer? Where did she get the money?" Damian thought to himself.

"You still have to agree to sign the divorce papers. Plus, you've been cheating," said Regan.

"I've never cheated! My wife just misunderstood," said Damian.

Regan chuckled at Damian's words. It turned out that this man was annoying, refusing to admit his mistakes.

"Are you sure you never cheated? Isn't this woman your mistress?" he said, looking at Eliza.

Eliza's face was panicked, and she almost dropped the drink she was carrying.

"What do you mean? She is my personal secretary. And she is at my house for work," said Damian.

"I have proof of your affair. Don't try to deny it anymore," said Regan as he handed the evidence to Damian.

Damian took the evidence and opened it. Damian's face was clearly angry.

"This must be fake evidence!" shouted Damian.

"You are stupid, you can't tell the difference between real and fake. Here's the deal, it's up to you. If you still refuse to sign the divorce papers, you will be in contempt of court. And Miss Caroline will get 70% of your assets," explained Regan.

"What do you say? Are you still refusing to sign? Fine, we'll see each other again in court," he continued.

"Damn it! Fine. I'll sign," said Damian.

Regan smiled and handed him the divorce papers.

"Thank you. Our business is done, and you and Miss Caroline are officially divorced," said Regan.

"Excuse me," he said and left Damian's house.

"Damn it! How could Caroline hire such a great lawyer?" shouted Damian.

"Come on, honey, isn't it good that you two are divorced? We can be together now, without having to hide anymore. You don't love that woman, do you?" said Eliza, trying to calm Damian down.

"I don't love her, indeed. I just made her my caretaker," replied Damian.

"Caroline! You'll regret this. I don't know who helped you, but I'm sure you'll come back to me and beg me," Damian said to himself.

"Enough. Let's just have fun and go to sleep. Tomorrow you have to be enthusiastic again, because we're having a joint party with the XMY company," said Eliza.

"Don't let that lowly woman's issue affect our relationship with XMY. We'll become even richer if we can make XMY's leader happy," she continued.

"You're right, honey. Caroline will definitely regret it when she sees my life becoming more successful," Damian said.
