Chapter 6 | Collaboration
"Why do we have to talk at the cafe?" asked Dexson.
"There are many things I need to discuss with you," replied Caroline.
"What is it really about? Aren't you Damian's wife?" said Dexson.
"You know very well that Damian and I are enemies," he continued, staring at Caroline.
"Ex-wife!" said Caroline firmly.
"Have you realized how foolish you were? You seemed to love Damian so much back then. But someone like Damian is not worthy of love," said Dexson with a chuckle.
"Yes, I was foolish back then. It turns out Damian is a jerk! I really regret wasting my time living with him," replied Caroline with an angry look on her face.
"I want to get revenge, and I need your help," she continued.
"What kind of help do you want?" asked Dexson.
"I'll tell you when we get to the cafe," replied Caroline.
"I know you don't like Damian either. You must hate him, and I think you're the right person to help me," she continued.
Soon they arrived at the cafe. They entered the VIP room.
"So what kind of help do you need from me?" asked Dexson.
"Don't rush, let's order food or drinks first. You still have plenty of time, right?" said Caroline.
"Okay," replied Dexson.
Caroline then called the waiter and ordered what she wanted, while Dexson only ordered coffee.
"This woman looks very different after divorcing Damian. When she was Damian's wife, she was like a maid. Damian was indeed incapable of taking care of his wife," Dexson thought to himself as he continued to stare at Caroline.
"Why are you staring at me? Is there something wrong with me?" asked Caroline.
Dexson looked nervous, then he cleared his throat softly.
"No. It's just that I think your life will be much better now," replied Dexson.
"Of course. I've escaped from a hypocritical man like Damian, so my life is definitely much better," said Caroline.
"Honestly, when you were Damian's wife, you looked like a maid. Your clothes were very simple, even considered inappropriate for the wife of a director, and you didn't take care of yourself. But now you are much better," said Dexson.
Caroline drank the juice that had just been brought by the waiter. She remembered her past again. She had been foolish and blinded by love.
"I used to be too obedient to Damian," replied Caroline.
"Even for that jerk, I was willing to leave everything I had," she continued in her heart.
"Oh my God, so Damian told you to do that? Either he didn't love you, or he wasn't capable of being a husband," said Dexson.
"I think a man like Damian is incapable of being a husband. He even betrayed me. Even though I loved him so much. He even killed his own flesh and blood," replied Caroline.
"Crazy man! It seems like Damian has lost his mind," said Dexson with an annoyed expression.
"But I will make sure Damian and his mistress don't live peacefully. They have to pay for what they've done," said Caroline angrily, her eyes full of emotion.
"This woman must have suffered greatly as Damian's wife. She has a strong grudge against Damian, and I'm sure Damian will regret it," thought Dexson to himself.
"I know you hate Damian for a strong reason. I believe he caused your mother's death. So I want us to work together," Caroline said.
"Do you mean we should work together to destroy Damian?" Dexson asked.
"Yes. I want us to enter into a contract marriage," Caroline replied.
"Isn't there another way? Why does it have to be a contract marriage?" said Dexson.
"I think this plan is the best. Especially since Damian also considers you his biggest enemy. He always wants to be better than you," said Caroline.
"It's just a contract marriage, and I guarantee you won't be harmed. I'll also help you, just like today when you managed to get a cooperation contract with the XMY company," she continued.
"So, you're the one who helped me?" asked Dexson.
"Do you think the leader of XMY would immediately take your side? Just because of Damian's affair?" said Caroline, looking at Dexson.
"She's right. Master King only cares about his company's profits," Dexson thought to himself.
"You don't need to know what I've done, but what's clear is that I just don't want Damian to win," replied Caroline.
"So what's your decision? I guarantee you won't be harmed," she continued.
Dexson remained silent, making Caroline snort in annoyance.
"Don't waste time, I need your answer quickly. If you're not interested, I won't force you. But I guarantee you'll regret it," Caroline said firmly.
"It seems like that's not just a simple statement and threat," Dexson thought to himself.
"Okay. I agree," Dexson replied, making Caroline smile.
"Good decision. We'll take care of everything tomorrow," said Caroline.
"Even though this is a contract marriage, I want everyone to know that we're not getting married for fun. Especially to convince Damian that we're really married. Do you understand what I mean?" she continued.
"I understand. I'll have my subordinates take care of our marriage certificate," replied Dexson.
Caroline then gave Dexson her cell phone number.
"Let's take care of it ourselves! I'll see you tomorrow. No one can know that we are only in a contract marriage. Everyone can be a traitor," said Caroline.
"Okay," said Dexson.
"Thank you. I think you can be relied on," said Caroline, gently rubbing Dexson's hand.
"I think that's enough for today, I still have other things to do." Caroline then got up from her seat.
"Let me pay," she said and left Dexson.
Dexson stared at Caroline's back as she walked away. He was sure his decision was not wrong.
"Damian will definitely hate me even more. I can't wait for that moment," said Dexson with a laugh.
"Damian's ex-wife also seems like an interesting woman," he continued.
Dexson finished his coffee, then decided to go home. He asked his personal assistant to pick him up.
"Damian said his wife was an uneducated village girl, but I think Caroline is an extraordinary woman. Has Damian been blind all this time? Didn't he see how extraordinary his wife was?" Dexson asked himself.
"Damian is so stupid! He chose to have an affair with a low-class woman like Eliza. Just because his wife is from a village," he continued with a laugh.
