Chapter 3
I woke up the next morNewman to an empty space beside me.
Just as I thought Henry Young had left after taking what he wanted, I caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye—sitting on the sofa, eating breakfast.
I immediately rushed over, beaming, and threw my arms around him.
“What are you drinking, babe? I want some too!”
I picked up the bowl of pumpkin porridge and brought it to my lips, only to be roughly pushed away by Henry Young.
He looked at me impatiently, and when he saw the tears welling in my eyes, he paused.
“You said last night you’d give me money? You want to support me?”
I instinctively tried to deny it, but I didn’t want him to think I was stingy.
“Yeah, sure, I can give you thirty thousand a month.”
“Is that possible?”
After I spoke, Henry Young fell silent.
I could only wait as he slowly sipped his pumpkin porridge.
To my surprise, he then told me about his bizarre fetish.
Before I could even react, he pointed at the bowl.
“That’s not pumpkin porridge. It’s gold soup.”
My mind raced, but I couldn’t make sense of it.
Henry Young suddenly stood up, hooking his finger around my gold necklace, his gaze sharp.
“A soup made from powdered gold. I need it fresh every day to function.”
“You said you’d support me, right? Cover my daily gold, and I’ll stay with you.”
I quickly calculated: gold was only four hundred yuan per gram, and I had fifty thousand a month… more than enough.
I was too thrilled by his agreement to question his strange obsession.
I forgot that gold prices could rise.
And just like that, Henry Young became my boyfriend in name.
I bought the gold; he drank the soup.
