I'll Cure You
Clara's POV
That chaotic night burned away every shred of my reason. Though Kyle's legs couldn't support him, his upper body possessed formidable strength—he pinned me against the thick carpet, his burning body pressed tight against mine.
The moment his scorching length pushed fully inside me, I felt an invisible mate bond snap into place between us.
Our souls resonated. Our wolves called to each other.
Kyle buried his face in the hollow of my neck, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "Clara... maybe you really are my mate."
I couldn't answer him. Overwhelming pleasure drowned me as he began moving with wild abandon, each thrust so deep it made my soul tremble.
Though his legs couldn't stand, the power and stamina there terrified me. We tangled together in the darkness, sweat mingling, the mate mindlink growing more solid with each joining.
As our union deepened, the Moon's Healing power dormant within me was awakened by his wolf. Warm energy flowed through our pressed skin, seeping gradually into his body.
I could feel his taut muscles relax slightly under my soothing touch. He released a satisfied sigh.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through gaps in the curtains, falling across rumpled sheets.
I opened my eyes, my body aching like it might fall apart. I lay in Kyle's arms, his hand still locked firmly around my waist.
Looking at his sleeping face so close to mine, fragmented memories from last night flooded back. Heat rushed to my cheeks.
I was trying to ease away quietly when sharp pain suddenly lanced through my mind.
Through the mate mindlink we'd forged last night, I felt clearly the torment he endured. It was like a branding iron pressed directly against bone—silver poisoning like countless barbed insects, constantly tearing at his meridians and legs.
This agony persisted every minute, every second, yet he'd slept without even furrowing his brow. How many years had he endured days like this?
My heart clenched painfully.
Seeming to sense my emotional fluctuation, Kyle's lashes fluttered and his eyes opened.
The instant he became conscious, the mindlink fed my emotions back to him. All my anxiety from this substitute marriage, my unease in strange surroundings, my worry about living under another's roof—everything transmitted into his mind without filter.
Kyle looked at me and reached out, gently touching my cheek.
"Last night... did I hurt you?" His voice was still hoarse.
"No," I shook my head, avoiding his gaze. "I'll wash up, then help you get ready."
After tidying myself briefly, I wheeled Kyle out of the room. The butler Thomas already waited in the hallway, and seeing us emerge together, his attitude seemed considerably more respectful than yesterday.
"Kyle, Clara, the matriarch is waiting for you in the dining room."
We arrived at the ground floor's grand dining hall. Several people already sat at the table. Matriarch Agnes occupied the head position, while a young man bearing some resemblance to Kyle sat in the first seat on the right. His gaze landed on my face, undisguised malice in his eyes.
This was Daren, Kyle's half-brother and a beta.
"Well, well, first day of marriage and sister-in-law looks quite refreshed." Daren set down his coffee cup, deliberately raising his voice. "Though I heard the bridal chamber got quite lively last night. The omega Mooncrest sent over really knows her tricks—drugging my brother with aphrodisiacs on her very first night. What's the matter, afraid he's too damaged to produce an heir, so you rushed to trap him with such despicable methods?"
The other collateral family members at the table put down their silverware, whispering among themselves.
"I knew it. Why would a low-class omega willingly marry into this family?"
"So she's after Silvermoon's fortune. Shameless."
The harsh words echoed through the hall. I clenched my fists, about to retort, when Kyle spoke coldly from his wheelchair.
"Daren, watch your mouth." Kyle's alpha pressure made the entire dining room's atmosphere turn heavy. "The wine last night was sent by the Elder. Are you questioning the Elder, or are you questioning me?"
Daren's face paled under his brother's aura, but he quickly stiffened his neck again. " I'm just thinking of the pack's welfare. Who knows if this woman came for SilvermoonGroup's assets? That broken-down pack of hers is waiting for our capital injection."
"Enough!"
Agnes slammed her teacup on the table. The sharp sound made everyone immediately fall silent.
She looked coldly at Daren. "Gossiping first thing in the morning—do you think I'm dead? Clara is the wife Kyle legally married into this family. She is the lady of this house. Anyone who dares question her motives again can go work at a branch office."
Daren bit his lip and lowered his head, not daring to speak further, though his eyes brimmed with resentment.
She turned to look at me, the severity on her face softening slightly. She beckoned, and the butler immediately presented a document.
"Clara, this is a transfer of five percent equity in SilvermoonGroup's holdings. I've already signed it. From today, these assets are under your name." She looked at me, her voice gentle. "This is your foundation as Kyle's wife. From now on, no one in this house can use assets to trample you."
I froze, staring at the share transfer worth a fortune, somewhat at a loss.
"Take it." Kyle grasped my hand beside me. His palm was large and warm. "This is what you deserve. Don't be afraid."
I looked at Kyle, then at Agnes who supported me, took a deep breath, and accepted the document.
"Thank you, mother. I will take good care of Kyle," I said earnestly.
Daren watched this scene, his face livid with rage, the fork in his hand nearly bent from his grip. But he could do nothing except watch helplessly as I acquired this enormous wealth.
After breakfast, I wheeled Kyle back to the room.
"Thank you for speaking up for me earlier," I said to the man in the wheelchair.
"You're my wife. Protecting you is my responsibility." Kyle looked up at me, his eyes gentle. "Besides, don't take Daren's words to heart. He's just fixated on my position, looking for trouble by any means necessary."
I walked to stand before him and crouched down, placing my hands on his knees. Through the mindlink, I could still sense that faint but persistent agony of silver poisoning.
"Your legs—are they always this painful?" I asked softly.
Kyle's body stiffened, as if he hadn't expected me to ask so directly. He gave a self-deprecating smile. "I'm used to it. After Legos wounded me with a silver-poisoned blade three years ago, it's been like this. The doctors said this toxin can't be removed—it'll just slowly drain my life away."
"It can be removed." I looked into his eyes, my tone serious. "I studied healing arts. Trust me—I'll cure you."
Kyle looked at me, complex emotions flashing in his eyes. He didn't refute me, only reached out to gently stroke my hair.
In that moment, the mindlink between us grew tighter than before.
