Chapter 2 Chapter 2
Selena
Pain and confusion filled my heart as I tightened my fist on the doorknob.
When did everything go wrong? Were all seven years because of pity? But Noah was never the type to pretend.
One reason I liked him was that he never pretended to be fine.
He was one to give a finger when things weren't okay. But now I doubted everything, and it hurt.
"Pitiful?" Her laugh echoed from the room. "Noah, you are truly one of a kind. Who stays with a girl just because she is pitiful? Saying you like her would have been better."
"I do like her a little. Though she—”
One of the heels dropped from my hand, and I rushed down to pick it up, my heart beating heavily in my chest.
"Did you hear that?"
I froze at her words. The sound must have alerted them.
A voice yelled in my head to leave, not to see the unpleasant sight, but my foot stood rooted as the door flung open.
And there was Noah, the man I've grown to love, in all his glory.
His boxers sat on his waist. His broad shoulders and stomach, which I had glorified numerous times, stood facing me.
"Oh," His eyes widened, surprised and I wanted to laugh….At myself.
I looked behind him at the girl on the bed. She leaned back in confidence as she locked eyes with me. Her breasts in full display inside the lacy bra, her legs crossing each other like she had been rubbing them together.
"Why?" I muttered, looking back at Noah.
That darn handsome face, which I loved so much, stared back at me. In disbelief…In shock…He never expected to be caught. He didn't have the chance to cook up an excuse.
"Why be with me if you found me pitiful? Why listen to me cry if you were disgusted by it?" I wanted to yell, but my voice came out small. Too weak.
Just like he described….Pitiful.
He moved towards me, and I stepped back, my bag and the heels dropped from my hands. My heart shattered with them.
My vision went blurry with tears, but I didn't let it fall. He was never going to see it again.
"Selena, please listen to me." He took a step, and I moved back.
"Stop." Pain shot through my head as my voice came out in a whisper. "Don't take another step towards me, Noah. Everything feels so tight right now." The tear dropped, and I quickly wiped it away.
His eyes were on me, those same eyes that had looked at me with care. Like I was the best thing in the world.
"Please have my things sent over to my place tomorrow. I'm sorry to bother you with it. Just consider it as the last favor you would be doing for me."
I spare a glance at the girl on the bed. She wasn't familiar. Her lips smirked as she locked gaze with me.
How lucky she was.
With that, I picked up my bag and walked out of the room.
I shouldn't be disappointed that he didn't follow me as I walked down the stairs, but I was.
The stairs I've always hated suddenly became my solitude as I walked down, tears flowing from my eyes.
My throat felt so tight yet there was a strong urge to drink.
Alcohol.
I laughed.
But I was never one to drink alcohol.
Maybe he didn't mean what he said? And besides, being a lost puppy is adorable, right?
I let out my hair, which had been in a bun all day, as the drink burned my throat.
I chuckled.
Who was I kidding? Do I need him to fuck the girl in my face before my stupid head comprehends it?
"Can I get one more shot, please?" I pleaded with the barman. He shook his head and poured more.
"Do you even know your shot tolerance?"
I shook my head.
I have only visited the bar on special occasions, and it was always with Noah and once with Josh when he turned nineteen.
All my happy moments were filled with Noah.
"Then I encourage you to stop drinking, otherwise, you will be dead drunk in a few seconds."
"It's unfair," I rubbed the edge of the glass.
"What did you say?" He asked, and I shook my head.
"It looks like things didn't end up well for you. It's better to sleep over it and face it than run away from it,"
I stared at him as he cleaned the glass cup. It was either that life has been shitty with him, or he has met so many people like me.
I took the last shot and stepped down from the stool. My eyes were getting blurry, and I knew I needed to leave for home.
Taking out money from my bag, I paid for the drinks and moved to leave. But my feet struggled through the crowd as I tried to keep my eyes open.
The shots were starting to get to me the more I walked.
Nice…I guess.
"Hey, pretty lady."
Someone suddenly grabbed my waist, and I frowned.
I pulled away from him, only to be grabbed again. This time, his body pressed to mine, and my nose flared.
"What do you think you are doing?"
"What do you think you are doing?" A voice from my side imitated it.
More voices.
Two.
Three.
I was surrounded by three men, with one holding me to his body.
“What do you think you are doing?” I yelled, pulling myself from his body, but it felt useless as he didn't even move.
My legs were getting weaker with each second, and tears started building up as my eyes were closing.
"She is already out of it."
One grabbed my cheek, and I pulled away from him, but he grabbed it again, and this time my strength failed, so I glared at him, trying to remember his face.
"I'm going to call the cops on you, so let me go now!"
They laughed.
"Wow, if only you knew how you look right now. Don't worry, soon you won't have the strength to move. Let's go,"
"Let go of me! Somebody help me!" I cried out, using all the strength I could muster, hoping anyone would hear me.
Panic and fear filled my heart the more I was dragged.
I wasn't going to survive whatever they had in mind, and the fear of not being rescued engulfed me.
"Please, anyone, please," I whispered, tears falling from my eyes.
It was unfair. It felt like history was repeating, but this time, there was no Noah to save me.
It was…
"Stop."
A deep voice.
A voice so deep that it stirred something inside my stomach.
Slowly, I lifted my head to see the face of my savior, but it was blurry.
