True Alpha

“Dude, your eyes,” Jack’s voice cracked, stopping Damien in his tracks.

Damien frowned. “What about my eyes?”

“They’re… they’re glowing,” Jack whispered, his face pale in the moonlight. “Like gold. I swear I’m not making this up.”

Damien rubbed his face hard. “You’re seeing things.”

“No man, I’m not.” Jack shook his head quickly, breathing hard. “Back there, when that thing came at us, your eyes lit up. I thought you were about to, I don’t know… change into something.”

Damien’s eyes furrowed.“Change into what?”

Jack looked at him like the answer was obvious. “A monster.”

The street was empty now, but Damien could still smell it, whatever had attacked them. A wild, musky scent, like wet fur and blood. He tried to push it out of his head. “That thing wasn’t human

"It had legs and hands," Jack said.

"You're right something bad is about to happen ",Damien stared at him.

" How did he put the note in your locker and where did the note come from?"Jack asked.

" I don't know, you were right there with me,"Damien muttered.

" Yes,the handwriting dosen't look like the one I know,it was rough"Jack titled his had, trying to remember the writing on the paper.

" Something is wrong,"Damien said.

“Wait,” Jack whispered, “Tommorow is the full moon.”

Damien looked at him, “So?”

“So… werewolves, dude.” Jack meant it as a joke, but it didn’t sound like one.

Damien scoffed, forcing a laugh. “You’ve watched too many movies.”

“Then explain your eyes,” Jack shot back, his voice sharp. “Explain why it ran away like it was scared of you.”

Damien opened his mouth, but no words came. There was no explanation, none that made sense.

The next morning, the hall was filled with whispers. People swore they’d heard screams near the park, some even claimed they’d seen something running through the trees.

Damien sat in the cafeteria with his untouched tray, staring at the eggs going cold. His muscles ached like he’d been in a fight all night. Across from him, Jack kept fidgeting, glancing at the doors every few seconds.

“Stop staring at me like I’m about to sprout fangs,” Damien muttered.

Jack didn’t look sorry. “You didn’t sleep, did you?”

Damien shook his head. “Every time I closed my eyes, I saw it, that thing.

Before Jack could reply, the cafeteria doors opened, and the noise died down a little.

A girl walked in, not just any girl a new one. She wore a black hoodie and blue jeans, her long blonde hair pulled into a messy ponytail. Her eyes, sharp and green, swept the room like she was measuring every single person.

“She’s new,” Jack whispered.

“Thanks for the update,” Damien said dryly, but he couldn’t stop watching her, there was something about her made the hair's on his arms stand up.

The girl didn’t sit with anyone, she picked a corner table, sat alone and started eating without a word bt as she set her tray down, she looked up right at Damien, his gaze met her's they was something about her that caught his attention but he didn't know what.

"Half of the guys here are already in love with her," Jack muttered through a mouthful of fries.

"I know that," Damien said.

"Then why are you looking at her," Jack said.

" Whatever, I'm not hungry,"he pushed his tray away.

The rest of the day passed away quickly, Damien couldn't concentrate in class, all he could think of were Jack's words, if truly his eyes had glowed and the attacker at the school field, who was he? The whispers of students from across his classroom were getting louder and annoying, by the time the bell rang, he ran out of his class and Jack followed him.

"It's the full moon tonight,I'll probably be locking you in your basement so you don't eat my face, what do you say? Jack said.

"I don't believe a thing you say, didn't you say you were joking",Damien said.

" I was and wasn't but if you think I'm going to leave you alone then you're crazier than I am," Jack said.

" What if I eat your face out or whatever you just said," Jack asked.

" That's why I'm locking you in your basement and wolves don't eat throat",Jack said .

" How do you know so much",Damien asked.

" I studied lycanthropy," Jack said.

Damien looked at him with confusion.

"You're kidding," Damien laughed.

"I'm not," Jack winced.

They both walked to Damien's house..

"I hope your mum's not at home",Jack asked.

" She won't be coming this night ", why did you ask? Damien looked at him.

"I don't want you to go full Wolfie on your mum," Jack fell on the bed.

" Aren't you scared of what I'll do to you,"Damien said.

" That's why I brought chains," Jack removed the chains from his bag.

" Dude, you have to be kidding me",Damien looked suprised.

" I'm not,"Jack replied.

Damien rolled his eyes but a part of him was relieved Jack was there.

"I found something about the girl that was arrested at our school," Jack sat up.

" What's that?" Damien asked.

"She's Mira Hayes," jack said.

"Mira Hayes, not Gina. I heard her brother was arrested for murder," Damien muttered.

" Yes, her whole family vanished last year and her brother was arrested for the murderer of principal valentine,"Jack said.

" Valentina....you've got to be kidding me,"Damien looked at Jack.

" I was surprised too but I saw his case file in my mom's room,"Jack sighed.

" They lied to us,I thought she travelled,"Damien said.

" This is getting weird,"Damien muttered.

" It get's weirder, she was killed on a full moon," Jack looked scared.

" It's a full moon tonight," Damien looked out his window.

" It's almost time, I got the chains up already,"Jack stood up.

" Stop",Damien shouted as he felt a pain across his chest.

"You're burning up, what's wrong?" Jack asked.

Damien tried to speak, to tell him to leave, but his mouth was no longer human. His jaw stretched into a muzzle, teeth sharp and slimy. His scream turned into a deep and brutal snarl.

In seconds, Damien was gone.

Where he’d been crouched on the floor now stood a massive wolf, taller than Jack’s chest with muscles rippling beneath its dark fur. Its golden eyes glowed in the dim light.

The wolf turned its head toward Jack.

“Damien…?” Jack whispered, his voice cracking.

The wolf growled, low and dangerous.

And then it stepped closer.
