Bloody hunters

"Why is it always at the school field?" Damien asked, looking annoyed.

"I don’t know. You’re the one who got bitten," Jack muttered.

"Let’s just go," Damien said, shutting his locker.

"Go where?" Jack asked, confused.

"To the field," Damien replied, looking serious.

"Just say you want me dead," Jack shaked his head. "Remember the hooded guy, the hunters… and now this?"

"You’re coming with me," Damien said, grabbing Jack’s arm.

The field was quiet and covered in fog. The air was cold, and everything looked spooky.

"I hate this place," Jack said, glancing around nervously.

"Not more than I do," Damien replied with a frown.

Suddenly, a voice spoke from the shadows. "Why did you bring him?"

They both turned quickly.

"Who’s there? Show yourself!" Damien called out.

A hooded figure stepped forward.

"You again," Damien growled.

"Don’t tell me you're here to kick our asses again," Jack said, backing up.

"He knows your secret," the hooded figure said, looking at Damien.

"You bet I do. And I know yours too," Jack replied, trying to sound confident.

Damien turned to Jack, surprised. "Wait, you know his secret?"

"I don’t," Jack whispered quickly. "I’m just trying to scare him."

“Enough of your blabbering,” the hooded figure said, pointing at Damien. “I want to see only him.”

“Not happening,” Damien growled, clenching his fists. He lunged at the hooded figure, but the figure slipped into the shadows.

“Don’t let him get away!” Damien shouted as he and Jack ran after him.

“Stop! Who are you?” Damien yelled, chasing the figure through the fog.

They followed the figure to an old, broken-down house at the edge of the woods.

“Wait… wait, stop,” Jack said, pulling Damien back.

“What is it?” Damien snapped.

“This house… it’s haunted,” Jack stepped back nervously.

“I don’t care,” Damien replied, his eyes beginning to glow.

Without waiting, Damien stormed into the house. He tackled the shadow figure and they fought, claws slashing and fists flying. Damien managed to scratch the figure’s arm, and the figure fell back, pulling off the hood.

“You’re indeed a True Alpha,” the figure said, revealing a woman’s face.

“Maya Hayes,” Jack gasped as he stepped into the room.

“You know her?” Damien asked, confused.

“My mom’s a cop, remember?” Jack said. “I’ve read all the Hayes family case files.”

“Who are you really?” Jack growled.

“The only person who can help you,” Maya said with a small smile.

“What do you mean?” Damien asked, still tense.

“I’ve been watching you,” she said calmly. “You can’t control when you change, it’s dangerous.”

“You were at his house, weren’t you?” Jack asked.

“Yes,” Maya nodded.

“You were the one who bit me,” Damien said, eyes narrowing. “Why did you do it?”

“I didn’t bite you,” she replied. “You were bitten by a dying Alpha, that’s what made you a True Alpha.”

Damien’s eyes widened. “Then… who did?”

“We will have to find that out," Maya muttered.

Damien leaned against the wall, trying to catch his breath. Jack sat on an overturned chair, still shaken, maya stood by the window, her eyes watching the darkness outside.

“So,” Jack finally spoke, “those people with the glowing arrows… they’re hunters, aren’t they?”

Maya nodded slowly. “Yes and not just any hunters. They’re trained to track and kill supernatural creatures especially werewolves.”

“But why?” Damien asked. “We’re not hurting anyone.”

“It’s not about what you’ve done,” Maya said, turning to face them. “It’s what you are. They believe all werewolves are dangerous, they’ve existed for generations, passing down weapons, knowledge, secrets. Most people don’t even know they exist.”

Jack scoffed. “Well, I know. That arrow nearly killed Damien.”

Maya nodded. “They always aim to kill, I think the person who bit you was running from them that night.”

Damien’s brow furrowed. “You think he was wounded?”

“I don’t think. I’m sure,” Maya replied. “I found blood near the same forest where you were attacked. It didn’t match any known animal and there were signs of a struggle, there were burn marks… claw marks… and silver-tipped arrowheads.”

“Silver?” Jack asked.

“Deadly to werewolves,” Maya said. “Even a scratch can burn, and it slows down healing. That’s why I believe the Alpha who bit you was dying, he had no choice.”

“No choice but to bite me?” Damien asked, voice tense.

“It wasn’t random,” Maya said. “A True Alpha isn’t chosen by accident. He saw something in you maybe Strength or Leadership.”

Jack looked over. “Well, I don’t know if it’s a gift or a curse but we’re in deep trouble now.”

Maya crossed her arms. “I’ve been tracking that Alpha for weeks before he vanished. He was part of a rogue pack, hunted by both werewolves and humans, the hunters must’ve ambushed them.”

“So why were you tracking him?” Damien asked.

“Because I knew something like this would happen,” Maya said. “That he’d pass the curse to someone else and now that someone is you.”

“I didn't want this,I almost lost control in school," Damien said.

“Trust me, it wasn't easy," jack added.

" That's why we have to find him, if we find him your blood can save him and you can go back to normal” Maya eyes furrowed.

" Wait,he has to die." Jack looked puzzled.

“No,the blood will have to be offered willingly," Maya said.

Damien looked down at his hands. The memory of shifting, the growl, the blood it all felt like a dream but it wasn’t.

“Do the hunters know about me?” he asked.

“They might not yet,” Maya replied. “But if they find out, they’ll come for you.”

Jack stood up. “Then we stop them we find this Alpha if he’s still alive and we end this.”

Maya gave a faint smile. “Looks like you’re finally starting to understand. This isn’t just about survival anymore.”

Damien’s eyes glowed faintly. “Then we better move fast before they come for me… or someone I care about.

Suddenly, a low growl echoed through the room, all three of them turned back.

From the corner of the room, two glowing eyes stared back at them through the dark.
