CHAPTER 14

Adonis's POV

I was shocked at the moment, and I didn’t know what to say to her. Did she just kiss me right in front of everyone? Do I have mixed feelings about this? Am I happy or sad that she is acting completely crazy without any thoughts?

Out of all the things she could do to piss me off, this is what she could think of. For someone that is trying to avoid being with us, she really has a lot of nerves coming onto me like this. What did she think is going to happen? While she tried to pull away, I pulled her closer and gave her a deeper kiss to her surprise, but she immediately pushed me off.

“Are you crazy? You’re kissing me back? Do you have no shame at all?” she whispered to me angrily, and I only smirked. However, when I saw the reactions of everyone around us, I waved at all of them.

“Are you going to stay here and watch more, or are you going back to your duties?” I fired at them, and they all ran away.

I turned back to Autumn, waiting for her to say something. But she just looked back at Agatha.

“Look at your dear brother, kissing the girl he raised. You think they are decent people? You haven’t seen anything yet. Continue fighting to be their princess. I don’t really care about them.”

“You! You shouldn’t be doing things like that to them. Why are you being so disobedient and rebellious?” she said, scolding Autumn. But everyone knows she’s angry for what we did. I could also hear the people passing by saying all sorts of things, but when I looked at them, they immediately ran away.

Autumn did not seem sorry for what she did. She was a bit flustered that I kissed her back, which is something she wasn’t expecting. If she’s reborn like my brothers think, then she probably knows we were mates in our past life. Maybe she doesn’t know we are also reborn, but we’re not going to let her go.

She pulled me closer to her to whisper in my ear, “No matter what you do, I’m going to leave you guys. And if you don’t, this is just the beginning. Guess what I’m going to do next. I guess your reputation doesn’t matter to you, right?”

She threatened me and pushed me away before going into the mansion. Agatha quickly ran towards us.

“What is going on with her? I’ve been trying to talk to her. I even tried to get her to enter the car, but she refused to enter and walked all the way from school here. She has always been doing this. I don’t know what to do anymore,” Agatha complained.

But it’s not as if we can do anything to Autumn. After all, we are here to make it up to her, which is the only reason why we are reborn.

“I’m sorry to say this, Agatha, but you have to bear with her for now. We’re trying to get her to change. Of course, she’s really being mean to you, but if you could look past it as her sister, we would be happy,” I told her.

She looked shocked that I said that. I realized that maybe we have also spoiled Agatha too much because we always took her side whenever something happened. We never checked the facts or even bothered to see if Autumn was innocent or not. We didn’t give her a chance to defend herself before we persecuted her.

“Yes, brother,” she replied, and Dante moved closer to us.

“I think we already told you to call us Alpha instead of that. Are you trying to disobey us?” Dante was harsh towards her, but maybe it was because of everything that happened in the past life.

Agatha was never there for us when we needed her, and it’s part of the reason why no one is taking her side now. If she could leave us at the moment when we needed her the most, then has she ever truly considered us as anything to her?

I could see the way Agatha looked scared and hurt by what Dante said, so I pulled him back and whispered to him, “That’s enough, Dante. She doesn’t even know what happened in the past life. You don’t have to treat her like that. She probably had some circumstances back then.” I explained to him.

Dante shook his head and whispered back, “But it doesn’t change the fact that she might have been framing Autumn all along. Don’t you realize we found out everything that happened to Autumn was all a setup, and she was the first person to report it? Don’t you find it strange?”

Indeed, what he said was right, but I couldn’t comment on it yet without knowing the truth. Maybe Agatha only confessed what she saw.

I looked at Agatha and gently stroked her hair. “Go back to your room and get some rest.” But she didn’t leave. She looked like she was scared to go inside.

“Why aren’t you going inside?” Knox asked her.

She shook her head. “I don’t really have a room to stay in anymore. You haven’t assigned me to a room after giving my room to Autumn.”

I realized we’d completely forgotten that Autumn disturbed us last night just to get the room from Agatha. I signaled one of my warriors and gave him an instruction to prepare a room immediately for Agatha. Then I turned back to Agatha.

“Why don’t you go and wait a little bit in my study until your room is prepared? Just for an hour.”

She nodded her head and hugged me. “Thank you so much, bro… I’m sorry. Alpha.”

“It’s okay. You can call me whatever you want,” I told her, and she smiled before running inside.

I looked at Dante, who still wasn’t convinced. He was acting nice to her the past few days, but now he’s been so mad. Could he have discovered something that I don’t know?

“Why are you being so mean to her now, Dante? I told you that we don’t need to do that to her. Besides, that’s in the past. She’s not the reason why everything fell apart,” I told Dante as we walked inside.

He stopped me. “You don’t understand. I discovered some things that I haven’t learned before today. And I can’t help but be mad at her. Do you realize how wrong we were? We’ve done so many bad things to Autumn. I don’t even know if she’s going to forgive us at all.”

“What exactly did you discover that is making you like this?” Knox asked him.

“I found out from one of the maids how Autumn has been living since we neglected her. Aside from the fact that she lives in that shabby place, she hardly eats, and she has to eat from the ground. It has already been confirmed before. She has an eating disorder because of how she was treated by the maids, and they all claim they were ordered by Agatha to do all that to her in our names,” he explained.

“What?” Knox and I exclaimed at the same time.

“That’s not everything she has gone through. She has gone through so many things that we don’t even know about. For example, the fact that she goes to school without a car, and she hasn’t been getting any allowance for a long time. Can you remember the last time you gave her an allowance?”

Dante is right. We haven’t given her an allowance or checked on her at all. We just realized that she also registered in college, and we didn’t even congratulate her for it. How she even managed to do that is what I don’t know.

“We were really hassles to her. And we expect her to want to stay with us. Of course she wouldn’t want to stay. No one would want to be with us after awakening like that,” Knox stated.

Dante sighed. “She had to work part-time jobs just to get into college, and when she came back every night, we only punished her and made her stay in prison. She doesn’t even complain, and she obeyed, trying to please us every time, yet we never looked her way. Do you think we deserve to ask for her forgiveness now? We’ve put her through so much pain.”

“But why did she kiss you suddenly? Is she losing her mind?” Knox asked me.

I don’t know what she’s thinking about doing all of this, but the only thing I know is that it’s a good thing.

“She’s trying to make us angry because she knows we hate things like this. She badly wants to get away with us.”

“So what do you suggest we do?”

“From now on, let's just play along with her. Let's see what she's going to do next.”
