A legend in Dem’Say Woods is more than just a chilling tale and Jenna finds herself in the thick of it all.
Chapter 1
Jenna’s iPod thudded with music, drowning out the world around her in a melody that felt as vibrant and alive as the city itself. She crossed the street and slipped into the desolate industrial estate, a barren patch of town lined with grey tin buildings that loomed ominously in the shadows, barely illuminated by flickering streetlights that blinked like dying stars. The air here was thick with the scent of rust and oil, steeped in a history of labor and sweat, but Jenna was unfazed. Riding high from an exhilarating night out, she hummed along to the tunes that coursed through her ears, her heart still racing from the excitement of the party.
If her parents knew she was wandering the streets at this hour, they would surely launch into a tirade about safety and responsibility. Weeks of grounding would follow—an eternity for a girl who had just celebrated her sixteenth birthday. But tonight was special; it was date night, a rite of passage into a world of whispered secrets and stolen glances. Her parents were absorbed in a mindless romantic comedy, and her sister had whisked herself away with her latest boyfriend—a twinkling distraction that left Jenna delightfully alone. With it now past eleven, she had a precious hour to spare before anyone returned, a golden hour of freedom draped in the cloak of night.
The party she had just left was everything her best friend Donna promised: electric, alive with flashing lights and laughter that pulsed like the Bass thumping through the speakers. Jenna couldn't shake the intoxicating feeling that Josh, the enigmatic new hunk at school, had been flirting with her. A newcomer to Dem'Say Woods, he was an alien among them, his striking features and easy charm making whispers swirl like autumn leaves in the wind. She often wondered why anyone would choose to settle in a town so isolated—population six thousand, nestled far from the next town over twenty-five miles away. In a place where gossip thrived like wildfire, it was hard not to feel like every secret was uncovered, every look dissected endlessly.
But Josh—there was something captivating about him. It wasn't just his good looks; it was the wisdom that flickered behind his charming smile, a depth that beckoned her to explore. She replayed their brief conversations in her mind, illuminating every smile, every shy glance. Was it real, or was it just the adrenaline of the night pulsing in her veins?
Suddenly, the intoxicating thrill of the night twisted into a nightmare in an instant. An unseen hand clamped over her mouth, the taste of metal and fear flooding her senses as a surge of adrenaline shot through her veins, igniting a primal instinct to fight or flee. Her heart thrummed wildly in her chest, each beat a frantic declaration against the encroaching darkness. Desperate to escape, she jerked her head back, her heel driving against her assailant's foot, eliciting a muffled gasp of pain.
But the victory was short-lived; a grip of iron seized her long red hair, ripping it back as she dropped her iPod, the music silenced in an instant—a chilling end to her reckless joy. Pain shot through her scalp as she was pulled backward, the world tilting on its axis, dizziness threatening to consume her. Summoning every ounce of strength, she broke free and sprinted into the darkness, her head pounding, her heart racing as a mantra echoed in her mind: Don’t look, don’t look.
Peering over her shoulder proved disastrous. There he was—a figure cloaked in black, face hidden beneath a hood, a shadow slithering closer with unnerving speed, the night swallowing him whole with each determined step. Panic swelled within her, igniting a fire in her legs. She sprinted madly, the dim alleyways becoming a maze of shadows, but in her haste, she crashed into a streetlight, the impact knocking her right off her feet and into the gravel, the sharp sting of the ground biting into her palms.
“Get up, Jenna!” she urged herself, scrambling to her feet as her heartbeat danced to a frantic rhythm, a desperate drum sounding the call to safety. The lab where her father worked loomed ahead, a beacon of sanctuary in the chaotic night, glowing faintly in the distance. She rounded the corner, skidding to a halt at a gap in the wrought-iron fence, hope coiling in her chest like a tightly wound spring.
With a desperate leap, she squeezed through, her jumper snagging on a jagged edge, a cruel reminder of her urgency. As she glanced back, adrenaline coursing through her, she saw him rounding the corner with focused intent, the darkness swallowing him whole until he was just a predator stalking its prey. Heart pounding, Jenna ripped free from the fabric that threatened to hold her back. She rushed towards the front door of the lab, but it was locked—of course it was! Panic surged like a tidal wave, threatening to drown her resolve.
Frantically, she dashed around the building, her mind racing as she spotted a pile of rocks in the moonlight. Grabbing one, she smashed the nearest window, the shattering glass echoing loud and ominous in the night, slicing through its stillness like a scream. The shards glinted in the soft moonlight, a silent witness to her desperate action—a reminder of her grandmother’s superstitions about full moons giving power to darkness.
Determined, Jenna struck the glass repeatedly until the hole was wide enough for her to slip through, the jagged edges biting at her but offering no respite. Pain laced through her leg as shards sliced her skin, but there was no time to dwell on the agony. She plunged into the darkened interior of the lab, her fingers brushing the cool, sterile wall as she navigated the shadows, the air thick with the scent of chemical fears and forgotten dreams.
“Remember, child,” her grandmother’s voice echoed in her mind, a soothing balm against the chaos. “You have more than one sense. Touch and smell may one day save you.” Those once cryptic words, shrouded in layers of family lore, were her lifeline now.
Her fingertips grazed the cool metal of a door, sending a surge of hope through her. She twisted the handle slowly, pushing it open as it creaked ominously, a warning in the darkness, then locked herself inside.
Breathless, she leaned against the door, the glass cool against her cheek, a reminder of the world that lay just beyond. She needed to move away from the door’s transparent panel, even in the darkness, where danger lurked just beyond her vision. The sound of footsteps echoed, heavy and foreboding, drawing closer. She froze, her heart hammering in her chest, the rhythmic pounding a cruel reminder of the terror so close at hand.
The handle rattled violently, sending her reeling back into a shelf. Jars crashed to the floor, spilling their contents over her clothes, sending searing heat across her skin like flames licking at her heels. Jenna bit back a cry as she gasped for breath, the cacophony of chaos intensifying as the world unraveled around her. Time slowed, each moment stretching into eternity—a battle between the instinct to hide and the instinct to fight back against the encroaching darkness.

"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
New to the world of shifters, Draven is human on the run. A beautiful girl who no one could protect. Domonic is the cold Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack. A brotherhood of twelve wolves that live by twelve rules. Rules which they vowed could NEVER be broken.

I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
