Chapter 2 Let's Call Off the Engagement

Vanessa was already impatient, but in order to control Megan, she could only patiently try to urge her on.

They must not let Megan escape their control, and they must not let her rise to prominence through the Holt family!

Vanessa said quietly, "We're all doing this for your own good. Don't you still want to be with Ryan? Then you need to be more assertive. Otherwise, what will Ryan think?" Vanessa put pressure on her.

Megan found it all laughable.

Ryan Shaw? Yes, how many absurd things did she do, and what price did she pay, all in order to be with him and to show her determination to love only him?

Ryan never truly loved her. He pretended to be affectionate for six years, used her for six years, and finally gave her away to another man without any mercy.

"Sister, did you even hear what I said...?" Vanessa's words were full of a lecturing tone towards her servants.

Looking at that arrogant, hypocritical face, Megan raised her hand and slapped her!

A resounding slap landed, numbing her hand.

Megan stared blankly at her own hands. It wasn't a dream; she... had been reborn!

She was reborn six years in the past!

Vanessa was stunned by the blow, her face filled with shock and disbelief.

How dare this nobody hit her?

She was furious and wanted nothing more than to tear Megan's face apart.

However, before Vanessa could speak, Megan scolded her with heartache:

"Vanessa, how could you ask me to break off the engagement at a time like this? Do you know what consequences this will bring to the Cole family? Since I have decided to marry Ethan Holt, it is my true intention, and I will never do anything to harm the interests or relationship between our two families. Please stop trying to persuade me!"

What?

Vanessa's eyes widened. What nonsense was she talking about? When did she ever advise her to call off the engagement?

"You…" Vanessa was about to explain.

Megan suddenly looked towards the door in surprise: "Grandpa..."

Grandpa Cole came over to see if there was any problem, and why the bride hadn't come out yet.

As soon as he reached the door, he heard Megan's words.

Grandpa Cole looked at Vanessa with a dignified gaze.

Vanessa's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly explained, "Grandpa, I..."

"Grandpa, please don't blame Vanessa," Megan said first. "My sister is young and doesn't understand things. She can't tell the difference between what's going on. She meant well. If you want to blame someone, blame me."

Vanessa choked, her facial features contorted.

Megan wasn't pleading for her at all; she was clearly saying that she was ignorant, stupid, unable to distinguish right from wrong, didn't know what was important, and disregarded the family's reputation!

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Cole's brows furrowed even more deeply.

He had always thought that Vanessa was well-educated and reasonable, and had been raised by his side since childhood. Her knowledge, etiquette, and manners were much better than Megan, who had been living away from home for eighteen years. He never expected that she would be so reckless and ignorant, advising her sister to cancel the engagement on the day of the wedding. What kind of behavior was that!

"Nonsense!" Grandpa Cole scolded.

This was the first time Vanessa had been scolded like this by Grandpa Cole, and her eyes immediately welled up with tears of grievance.

"Grandpa, it's not like that..."

"Yes, Grandpa, it's really not my sister's fault, it's all my fault. If you want to punish someone, punish me!" Megan quickly added.

Her words only made people more convinced that Vanessa had made a mistake and that she, as the older sister, was protecting her younger sister.

Vanessa was so angry that her face turned pale, and her eyes were red with anxiety. Her gaze was so intense that she wished it could turn into a knife and pierce Megan.

The more she explained, the more she seemed to refuse to admit her mistake, which made the old man even angrier.

Friends and family are still waiting outside.

The butler whispered a reminder that the wedding would begin in ten minutes.

Megan hasn't changed into her wedding dress yet.

Grandpa Cole gave Vanessa a cold look: "Hurry up and come out, don't disturb your sister changing clothes!"

Vanessa glared at Megan resentfully, then followed the others out of the dressing room with a pitiful expression.

Soon, only Megan and the makeup artist remained in the room.

"Miss Cole, it's almost time. Please put on your wedding dress first," the makeup artist urged.

Megan looked up at the wedding dress in the makeup artist's hands.

It was a pure black wedding dress, exuding a sinister and ominous aura.

Vanessa knew the Holt family's traditions, but she didn't tell Megan. Instead, she tricked her into thinking that wearing a Gothic wedding dress would show her individuality.

Who wears a black wedding dress with a white flower pinned to their chest at a wedding? Is this a funeral or a wedding? It's clearly a deliberate slap in the face to the groom.

This wedding dress was specially made by Megan at the instigation of her stepmother and stepsister, so that she could be more assertive at the wedding and express that she did not want to marry the Holt heir.

In her past life, she wore a wedding dress like this to the ceremony.

You can imagine how sensational the scene was.

Grandpa Cole slapped her on the spot.

Mrs. Holt fainted from anger.

However, the most embarrassed person was probably the groom, Ethan Holt.

Thinking of her past life, Megan wished she could slap herself a hundred times.

However, there was only one wedding dress on site, and there simply wasn't enough time to arrange for another one.

She can't exactly go to her wedding wearing her white T-shirt and jeans.

"Miss Cole, it will be too late if we don't change it now..."

Megan did not answer immediately.

The surroundings were so quiet it seemed to stand still, with only the white curtains fluttering in the wind reminding us that time was still passing.

"Could you take the curtains down for me?" Megan suddenly asked.

"What?" The makeup artist was completely confused, not understanding what Megan was going to do.

She was the makeup artist sent by Vanessa, with the purpose of ensuring that Megan would appear in that black wedding dress.

Megan glanced at her indifferently: "What are you standing there for? Can you take responsibility for delaying the wedding?"

The makeup artist's face stiffened. She naturally couldn't bear such a huge responsibility, so she had no choice but to take down the curtains as instructed.

The curtains are made of white silk satin, which is soft, smooth, and has a rich, luxurious sheen; they are perfect for use as wedding dresses.

Megan picked up the scissors and began cutting quickly and skillfully.

No one knew that she had an exceptional talent for fashion design, because all her designs were stolen by Vanessa.

Vanessa stole her design drafts and won the college fashion design championship, becoming a celebrated prodigy in everyone's eyes, the hope of the Cole family, and was given special training by her grandfather.

She was just a worthless, despised nobody.

In this life, she will take back everything that Vanessa stole from her!

At this moment, inside the solemn and luxurious hall, the groom was already waiting on the stage, but the bride had not yet appeared.

The guests couldn't help but start talking about it.

Vanessa sat next to her mother, a vicious and calculating smile hidden in her eyes.

That bitch Megan dared to slap her, so she'll make Megan a laughingstock and lose all face!

The elderly care most about rules and customs. If Megan were to wear that black wedding dress meant for a funeral to hold her wedding, the elders of both the Holt and Cole families would be furious with her. Then, who would still like this unruly, ill-mannered, and shameful girl?
