Chapter 5 Ex-Boyfriend, Please Have Some Self-Respect

Megan did not linger for long before leaving Ethan's lips.

She was so embarrassed that she could hardly look him in the eye; her cheeks burned, her mind was buzzing, and her heart was racing.

This was the first time she had ever initiated a kiss with a man.

Even though they were husband and wife in their previous life, they didn't have much intimate contact.

Everyone was stunned.

Ethan Holt is a man who allegedly tortured and drove away three of his wives and has a violent and obsessive personality.

Megan actually agreed to marry this kind of person and even kissed him first. Is she out of her mind?

Ethan also stared intently at her, his eyes filled with an emotion that was hard to decipher.

Vanessa stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

Wasn't Megan very resistant to this wedding?

Didn't she say she would rather die than let Ethan Holt touch her?

How did Megan, who was always timid, obedient, and inexperienced, suddenly come up with her own ideas?

"Ryan, how could my sister treat you like this? Even if Ethan Holt is powerful and influential, she changed her mind far too quickly!"

Vanessa looked indignant on his behalf, "We were all doing this for her own good, but she secretly recorded what I said and embarrassed me. How could she do this to me, her own sister?"

Ryan looked at the finger marks on Vanessa's face, his eyes filled with tenderness.

If there hadn't been other people around, he definitely would have pulled her close.

"I will definitely get justice for you," Ryan said in a low voice.

Thinking of Megan's betrayal, he felt a surge of anger, and his knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists.

Although he never truly liked Megan, he was the only one who usually paid her any attention.

She's so shameless to throw herself into someone else's arms so quickly!

At this moment, Grandpa Holt's expression softened slightly.

Finally, a woman didn't mind his grandson anymore, and the old man secretly rejoiced, so he didn't dwell on what had just happened.

The wedding continued smoothly, and Megan respectfully greeted the elders.

Although Mr. and Mrs. Holt did not give them a pleasant look, they did not say anything more.

After the wedding and seeing off the guests, Megan went to the dressing room in the back hall to change into her dress.

She had just changed into her dress and was about to go out.

Upon opening the door, she found Ryan standing there.

Ryan was wearing an expensive blue suit, and his handsome face carried a hint of fierceness.

Megan was about to speak when her wrist was suddenly grabbed: "Ah..."

Ryan pulled her back to the room.

"Did you play that recording at the ceremony?" Ryan asked in a condescending and accusatory tone.

Her wrist was sore from his grip.

Megan said, "Mr. Shaw, please have some self-respect."

His indifferent tone was completely flat, as if she were talking to a complete stranger.

Ryan was taken aback, as if he didn't recognize Megan.

Is the elegant girl in front of me really that rustic, tomboyish girl?

Megan shook off his hand, looked him straight in the eye, and said, "Mr. Shaw came here to seek justice for my sister?"

Ryan was taken aback; he couldn't let Megan know about his relationship with Vanessa.

He had to maintain the facade of being Megan's "devoted boyfriend" in order to keep her foolishly being used by him.

Ryan's expression softened a bit, and he changed the subject, saying, "Megan, why were you so cooperative at the wedding? Why did you kiss Ethan on your own initiative? Did you change your mind just because Ethan is more powerful and richer than me? Were you lying to me when you said you liked me before?"

He used his superior position of love to morally blackmail Megan, and this tactic was the most effective against her.

In the past, Megan would have been moved by his infatuation and felt guilty and remorseful for his injuries, and would have treated him even better.

However, this time Megan did not immediately admit her mistake, nor did she rush to explain.

She asked, "Didn't you tell me to marry Ethan Holt?"

Now he's questioning her about why the wedding went ahead; isn't that just contradicting himself?

Ryan choked, and his momentum weakened somewhat.

"Megan, you know I will definitely marry you. You are only temporarily marrying into the Holt family. If you ruin your chastity, do you know how heartbroken I will be?"

Heh, Megan couldn't help but sneer inwardly.

He sent his girlfriend to another man's bed and demanded that she remain chaste for him.

Could this man be any more shameless? He's really something else.

Just as Megan was about to speak, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a furtive figure flashing past the window out of the corner of her eye.

Are paparazzi taking photos?

The Holt family should have cleared the area, so how did paparazzi get in?

She looked closely, but the figure had vanished.

Megan frowned, a thoughtful look flashing across her eyes.

She paused for a moment and then suddenly said, "By the way, Ryan, please pay me back the fifty thousand I lent you before."

"What?" Ryan asked in disbelief. "Megan, what did you just say?"

Megan kindly spoke up again: "Give me back the fifty thousand I lent you before."

"When did I lend you fifty thousand?" Ryan asked, frowning.

"Just last month, when the Holt family came to the Cole family, Grandpa Holt gave me a hundred thousand as a meeting gift. You said you urgently needed the money, so you borrowed it."

Ryan: ...

He did borrow money, but not fifty thousand it was ten thousand.

He had no intention of paying back that ten thousand.

Megan, that naive girl, was so devoted to him that she was incredibly grateful and obedient, willing to give him anything.

This made him take it for granted that everything Megan owned was his, and that he didn't have to pay back anything he took from her.

Ryan scrutinized Megan, wondering if the Holt family had discovered his "relationship" with Megan and now wanted to take back the funds.

He tentatively asked, "Megan, is something wrong? Tell me what happened, and I can help you figure out a solution..."

He had already used part of the money to cover his company's financial deficit and the rest to squander with Vanessa.

He simply refuses to acknowledge it and has no intention of paying it back.

Megan curled her lips in a mocking smile. This man was using her money to entertain other women, and he was pretending to be a devoted saint and innocent in front of her. He was disgusting to the core!

"Then we'll have to sue and go to court. Your company may not be big, but it should be worth at least fifty thousand."

Ryan's face instantly turned green.

How did the woman who always prioritized relationships and gave to him without expecting anything in return suddenly change her nature?

"Megan, what's wrong with you?" Ryan still wouldn't budge.

Megan didn't have time to waste with his nonsense, and said, "I'll count to three. If you don't agree to pay me back, I'll have my lawyer call yours. One... two..."

Ryan finally lost his composure. The moment Megan said "three," he blurted out, "Ten thousand! I only borrowed ten thousand!"

Megan looked like she suddenly realized something and said, "Wasn't it fifty thousand? I remember it was fifty thousand!"

Ryan's forehead veins bulged as he said angrily, "It's ten thousand. I have the transfer records and I can show them to you."

"Oh~" Megan said meaningfully, "Then you'll have to pay me back within three days."

"Three days! How is that possible?" Ryan's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief.

Ten thousand is not a huge sum, but he couldn't possibly keep that much liquid cash sitting around. Misappropriating company funds is definitely out of the question, and asking the family for it would surely get him an earful from his father. Besides, most of the money was already spent on enjoying himself with Vanessa.
