Chapter 1
Ava p.o.v
"Ava" Tricia yell from the living room for the twentieth time.
Tricia is my roommate and best friend, we met on our first week of resumption. I needed a roommate so she offered I stay with her even though she actually wasn't looking for one.
Mom must have like Tricia on first sight because she agreed without hesitation, saying for a young girl to live alone is very dangerous. My mom can be extremely protective when it's comes to her kids, but let's face it, which mother won't turn a tigress when it comes to her kids.
So I don't blame her for being overprotective, even though it's drives me crazy at times.
So for the past four months I've been living with this wild wolf, shhh, don't tell her I say that, or I'm dead meat.
Tricia can be sweet and caring when she wants to, she had a heart of gold, the best roommate I could ever ask for. But occasionally her big sister mode kicks in, and she becomes wild but nonetheless I love her.
“What?” I asked innocently, I can practically see her rolling her eyes at my act of pretence.
Ok, maybe I wasn't all innocent, but a girl needs her bubble bath.
“ You've been in there all morning, and you're asking me what?" she said in disbelief," if you waste one minute in there I swear to God I'll drag you out by your hair" she growled through grits teeth, I almost laugh out, remember keyword almost. I would rather not be Tricia's prey, you've got to see her angry and I bet you it's not pretty.
She is always like this, waking up last and have me take quick shower but not today. Today is the perfect day to have my revenge and made up for all those quick showers she made me have.
Let me tell you revenge is sweet.
Tricia had a critical test so that's explain why she is extra piss.
I came out of the bathroom fully dressed in a peach colored sundress that stop on my knees with a tiny black belle belt, a silver stun earrings to compliment the dress and a black sandals with tiny pearls designing it.
I cat walked out of the bathroom flicking my strawberry-blonde hair off my shoulder just to annoy Tricia more.
And boy does she look mad.
If looks could kill I would be six feet under the ground by now.
“Bitch.” She hissed glaring daggers at me then push pass me to the bathroom.
“But you love me” I yell over my shoulder to her.
“You should be glad, and I wish I don't, I would've strangled you by now.” She throws one last glare my way before slamming the door shot in my face.
If she wanted so badly to get ready on time, she should at least be up early.
Not up to twenty minutes, she out of the bathroom like a breeze, I bet she didn't bath well.
“let's go.” She mumbled, and I quietly follow behind to her car, we get in and drove off. Above speed limit.
Tricia dropped me by my department block before speeding off to her law faculty.
My guess is: She wants to get over with the test.
Turning to enter my first class, Economics. My other friend, Nathan but like we can him, Nate. Greets me with a warm hug, no strings attached, thank you very much.
He's gay.
“Oh, my Ava, look how pale you are, what has that bitch of a roommate done to you” Nate exclaimed dramatically, looking all serious, but I can see this fake seriousness, He's just kidding around.
“You don't want her hearing what you've just said now, do you?” I warned, a smirk tugging on my lips as I shake my head.
Tricia will no doubt castrate him that's for sure, ok, not that they don't get along with each other. That's their own way of playing, though I sometimes don't understand them until I realized they're playing.
“like she could do a thing.” Nate scoff rolling his eyes.
“Really Nate” I threaten, giving him that don't test me look.
“Oh, Of course not I love my balls were they are.” He laughed throwing his head back. We took our seats as our professor, MR Whilem entered and lecture begins.
I smiled as I stare at the bold letters written 'MOM' it's been a while since we last talked especially with dad's constant drinking.
“Hello baby girl.” Mom's tender voice came from the other side of the phone, how I've missed hearing this voice.
“Mom.” I chirped excitedly.
“How are you doing over there, hope you don't lack any school or food supplies.”
“I'm fine, Mom.” I replied and heard her sigh in relief.
“How are you guys.” I asked back.
“we are fine, darling.”
“And dad?” I asked even though I already knew the answer to that.
“That's nothing to worry about dear, you just focus on your studies” she reassured, but who am I kidding.
If I were to believe that everything is fine with dad around, then I had another think coming.
My dad isn't this way while I was a kid, he was sweet, caring, and a loving father to us. He was the type of dad every kid could ask for, but everything changed when his Business went bankrupt, and he has to let it go to those who invested in the business.
He was devastated, he resorted to drinking for comfort but since when does drink help solve your problems, it's rather increased it. It made him miserable and turned him into an alcoholic.
“Ok.” Deciding not to press it further.
“Ava my dear, please be careful with people you interact with, there are always bad guys lurking around.” She sounds worried.
A frown creeps it way to my face, yes there are bad guys around. But mom using my name in a warning means something isn't right, and why do I feel it in the back of my head that something is really wrong?
“Ok, mom, I promise. Can we talk later.” I said ending the conversation.
“Alright dear.” the line went dead.
Now I'm restless and curious, what exactly is wrong, is dad giving them hard time. Or did he cause some sort of trouble.
I'm definitely going home this weekend no doubt about it.
“What happened, you look stress out.” Tricia's voice snapped me out of my thoughts, she walked out of the changing room in the coffee shop were we both work.
Now, not that Tricia needed the Job nor the money, well, basically because her parents are wealthy and her boyfriend is well loaded. She even offered to give me her paycheck every month, but I so kindly refused. I can't just take the money she worked hard for, I would be best described as a desperate greedy bitch if I do.
Like whom the hell does that.
“Well?” I told her my conversation with mom and emphasis on the dangerous people as well.
“I think she's just looking out for you.” Tricia said thoughtfully, I already know that which mother doesn't look out for their kids, but there is also a hint of fear in her voice.
Mom has never spoken like this even when dad has started his mental abuse, her voice has always been firm. And hearing her talk this way only means there's trouble in paradise.
“No Tricia something is up.” I broke the silent that has stretch between us.
Tricia fixed her gaze on me as if searching for something.
"If that's what you think then, you are going home this weekend"
Tricia said in an end of discussion tone and I couldn't agree more with her, if we are in other situations I would have argue with her for using that tone on me but not this time.
We both walk out to the counter.
“Ava, please go attend to table six” Mason, the guy behind the counter said with sweats running down his forehead, quavering lips and trembling fingers, then return to what he was doing or pretending to be doing.
A frown spread on my face confused, as to why his shaking. Is he cold or something, I turn away to go find table six. But the tension in the air is like a knife cutting through your skin.
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE.

I Loved You in Silence, You Betrayed Me in French
At my birthday party, my husband whispered to his mistress in French that he missed her. His voice was low, but I heard it all—the black lingerie, the bit about how pregnancy makes you more sensitive. His French clients around us were laughing. He turned and put his arm around me, claiming he was just helping his clients come up with sweet nothings.
He doesn't know I understand every single word. Just like he doesn't know that inside my body, I'm carrying his other surprise. And his mistress—she's pregnant too. Two wombs, one secret.
Confrontation would be too cheap. Tears are worthless. I quietly started cataloging the hidden networks my father left behind, activating the Swiss accounts.
In seven days, Zoey Smith will cease to exist. And what will my husband's reaction be?
When I Disappeared, He Regretted It
The moment the screen lit up, my entire world came crashing down.
The woman on the bed was Calista - that girl who grew up with us since we were kids. And that hand caressing her skin was wearing the wedding ring I had personally put on Matteo's finger.
"I've missed you so much..."
"You drive me crazy, baby..."
Those sweet words I knew so well completely destroyed me.
Everyone said we were the perfect couple, but who knew this marriage was built on nothing but lies?
Since he's so good at acting, I guess it's time I gave him a show of my own. I'm going to make sure everyone sees what this "perfect husband" really is...
The Family Sacrifice
I simply said one word: "Okay."
My parents and Gilbert were stunned. They rushed to have me sign the voluntary donation form, afraid I’d change my mind.
Some days later, they sent me to the operating room.
Dad said, "Yvonne will finally be saved. We're so proud of you."
Mom said, "After the surgery, we'll make it up to you."
Gilbert looked tenderly at Yvonne and said, "When you're better, where should we travel?"
What they didn't know was that the day I agreed, I'd just received my diagnosis, stage four cancer. Three months to live.
As I lay on the cold operating table, as the anesthesia began to take effect, I only wanted to know one thing:
If I die on this operating table, will they regret it?
He Never Loved Me, Until I Left
I put away the divorce agreement with a wry smile.
When he and my son completely disappeared, he finally panicked.
Three months later .
He knelt down on the streets of Chicago in despair, begging me to remarry him.
My six-year-old son looked coldly at his biological father and said, "Get lost, you bad uncle! You don't deserve to be my dad!"
He Thought I'd Never Leave
When he said he was being bullied, I believed him. When he kissed me on that rooftop, I thought he felt the same. When he asked me to transfer schools with him, I said yes without hesitation.
Then I heard him bragging to his friends: "She'd save her first time for me. Hell, she'd still be thinking of me on her wedding night."
The bullying was staged. The kiss meant nothing. He just wanted me gone—so his new girl could feel more comfortable.
He thought I'd beg. He thought I'd cry. He thought I'd never actually leave.
I left the country.
And ran straight into his stepbrother.
I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.
