Chapter 2

I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my powerless face, my eyes empty.

Since the accident, everything had changed.

Not only had I lost my child and the hope for my future, but I had also started becoming a stranger to myself.

Ethan's words still echoed in my ears: “You should accept Chloe, she’s carrying my child.” His cold tone made it feel like a dream.

I still remembered the way he looked at me, that emotionless gaze, as if I had never mattered to him. And Chloe, the person I had once trusted most, had now become the one I hated the most.

She had bound Ethan to her with a child, and everything was beyond redemption.

“Lena, you need to be strong. Don’t let these things drag you down,” I whispered to myself, trying to motivate myself. But the emptiness inside me kept growing.

I knew, I could never go back to the past.

The gentle Lena who was willing to endure everything for Ethan was gone.

Now, I had to learn to live stronger, to live more independently.

A soft knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.

I quickly wiped away the tears in my eyes. “Come in.”

The door opened, and there stood Chloe, with a sweet smile on her face, looking as innocent as ever. But I knew, she would never be kind to me.

She was just maintaining that friendly façade while secretly controlling Ethan and pushing me out.

“Lena, you don’t look well today. Are you tired?” Chloe walked into the room, her tone gentle, but her eyes gleamed with calculation. “Do you think life is worth continuing like this?”

I scoffed, “What do you want to say?” My voice was cold, full of suspicion. Every time she appeared in front of me, I felt a pressure I had never known, as if she was always lurking in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity.

Chloe smiled, sitting down beside me. “I know you’ve stopped adapting to this life, Lena. You want to leave, don’t you? Leave this painful marriage, leave Ethan, and leave this home that once belonged to you.”

I froze. “What do you mean?” I whispered, a sense of unease creeping up my spine.

She raised an eyebrow, her eyes flashing with cunning. “Do you really think Ethan will stay by your side now? Can’t you see? His heart is no longer with you. Chloe, she’s the one he truly wants. And you, you’re just a transition.”

I stood up abruptly, almost gritting my teeth, “Do you think you’re smart? Do you think you’ve succeeded?”

Chloe’s smile deepened. “Do you really think you’ll always be Ethan’s wife? Not anymore, Lena. You’ve lost everything.” She sighed lightly, “If you’re not willing to accept it, you can leave. Anyway, you no longer have a child. Ethan won’t keep you around.”

Her words were like a knife, stabbing deep into my heart.

I no longer wanted to argue with her.

The pain and humiliation made me feel like I was about to break down.

Chloe’s existence made me waste away day by day, and Ethan’s indifference made me feel an endless loneliness.

The next day, Luca appeared at my door.

He wasn’t someone who visited often, but today, it seemed like he was here specifically for me. Luca was Ethan’s friend, a member of the family, and a Beta.

He never got involved in the Alpha struggles but always offered help at crucial moments.

“You don’t look well today, Lena,” Luca stood at the door, his brow furrowed slightly. “What happened?”

I didn’t answer him but took a deep breath, coldly staring at him. “Chloe came. She told me Ethan no longer loves me. He loves her.”

A flash of anger passed through Luca’s eyes, but he walked into the room and approached me. “You shouldn’t let her hurt you like this, Lena.”

He placed a hand on my shoulder, his voice calm. “Ethan is completely captivated by her, but you don’t have to live for him anymore.”

I lowered my head, my voice heavy. “You’re right, Luca. I don’t want to live for them anymore. But I walked this path myself.”

Luca’s expression softened. “You’re not at fault, Lena. Ethan and Chloe are the ones at fault.” He paused, as if considering something. “Do you want revenge?”

I lifted my head, a spark of fire igniting in my eyes. “I want them to pay for everything they’ve done.”

Luca smiled faintly, “Then let’s destroy their world together.” His voice was low but filled with a resolute strength.

Days later, Luca brought me to a secret location.

It was far from the city, a remote cabin in the mountains, seemingly untouched by time. Luca said this was a safe place where we could hide our plans.

I stood at the door, suddenly filled with unease. “Why did you bring me here?” I asked.

Luca smiled faintly, “This is where it all begins, Lena. From here, you will take control of your future.”

Once inside, Luca opened a computer, and the screen flickered with strange files and charts. “These are Ethan and Chloe’s financial records. They’ve been involved in many secret dealings.” He looked at me with confidence in his eyes. “This information is enough to destroy their empire.”

I walked over to the computer, staring at the files. My heart raced. “Are these their dealings?”

Luca nodded. “Yes. Ethan and Chloe have controlled many assets through illegal means. All you have to do is give this information to the authorities, and Ethan’s world will collapse.” His voice held a hint of mockery. “They thought you would never fight back, but now, it’s your turn.”

I looked at the documents, feeling disgust rise in my chest. “They’re truly depraved. For power and money, they’ll stop at nothing.”

Luca’s gaze grew sharp. “Lena, you need to make them understand. Those who toy with you will eventually pay the price.”

A flame of revenge burned inside me, and for the first time, I didn’t feel weak. I wasn’t the helpless Omega anymore. I was a woman fighting for her future.
