Chapter 4 Four

Vaelunie pov

I slowly opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling, my whole body still hurts, my heart was taking most of the pains. Ironically, all my life I have never felt pain, but now having lived as a mortal and coming to this unfamiliar place,I finally know what pain feels like.

Dammit, I was in a rush and didn't even get the chance to fully recover my strength.I was running around the city trying to find a house, and the excitement made me forget about the most important thing.

It has been too long since I last gained full control of my power and body. The fact that I survived this long was because of my identity as an immortal, even the toxic inside my body was too much. I wonder how long my body has been taking poison without its knowledge.

Knowledge? That's absurd, it was merely a vessel living as a puppet without even knowing how to fight back or do anything.

“Ceiling?" I mumbled and it all came rushing back, I thought I collapsed outside, when did it change to a ceiling, have I transported myself to another dimension again.

I shot up from the bed totally awake, the force made me gasp for air, seriously I should have given them the taste of their own medicine before I left that place.

"You are awake?” an unfamiliar deep rough voice asked ,I snapped my head towards the sound and saw an unfamiliar man sitting on a couch, frowning as though I had offended him.

“And who are you?" I asked,he raised an eyebrow at my question.

“You don't even recognize the master of the place you are working for" He replied, scanning me up and down.

I frowned, did I become a servant and am I actually in another place "Master of who? Me?” I asked, pointing at myself.

I swung my feet down from the bed and stood up, my vision blurred as I tried to steady myself, the dust that rose from the bed flew into my eyes and I had to rub my eyes because of the itching.

"How long has it been since you started working here? And where is my mother and the rest of the people living in this house?” The man continued asking, impatiently.

" Hold on a sec” I raised my hand to make him stop talking and then staggered towards the window, I stood in front of the window and looked outside and relaxed after seeing the outside, I wasn't in another place, I was still in the building I bought not long ago, though it was already nightfall.

I didn't notice it before, but there was a light inside the room. I turned my head to look at the flickering light, it felt strange.

“You haven't answered my question?” He asked again this time more impatient than before.

"I don't even know who you are, and why you are even in another person's home and claims that it is yours, I paid for this house and I have the contract in my hands” I replied and stared at him more suspiciously.

He wasn't someone I knew and I couldn't find him in my memories, so he was a total stranger but why is he acting like he owns this place" are you homeless?” I asked again and saw his expression changed from irriation to baffled and then furious.

"How dare you?” He asked in an angry voice, angry was little he was like a volcano ready to erupt at any second, he stood up and stormed towards me,I took a step back instinctively ,it wasn't that I was afraid of him,my body moved on its own like it was supposed to be that way. I really should work on myself.

I stared into his eyes, not daring to back down. I paid for this house and I can kick him out without any hesitation “then who are you?" I asked,he flinched at my question, a thought occurred to me, what if I signed the wrong contract for this house and have been scammed.

"Yo…you don't recognize me?" He asked, his voice shook as he looked lost.

“Am I supposed to?" I was confused at his behavior. He didn't look like a bad guy but I wasn't going to judge someone by his appearance. The last time I did,I regretted it and made a fool out of myself.

“You said you paid for this house, was it my mother that sold this place to you? Can you tell me where she is?" He asked again in a panic tone.

"First I don't know what you are talking about, second I bought this place from a magical house agent in the city, it was listed as abandoned and unoccupied, I didn't bother checking how long, third I don't know the former people that lived in this house and lastly this place doesn't look like someone has been living in for a very long time, sorry but I don't know your mother nor have I met her” I emphasize with my right hand.

"Ohh” he replied, his shoulder slumping and he was looking at the ground saying nothing again.

He looked sad and lost, I didn't know who he was and what he was doing here, he didn't seem to be lying about this place, but I can't tell if he was actually telling the truth or just pretending.

"Thank you for bringing me up” I said, trying to lighten up the mood, he only nodded and didn't say anything, he turned around about to leave but then stopped and looked down.

“If you don't know who I am, then what's this golden thread around my wrist that binds us together and won't even let me leave?" He asked , looking at me suspiciously.

“What are you talking a…..” the word died in my mouth as I looked down and saw the golden thread around my wrist " huh, what the heck is this?” I asked, I was shocked to see the golden thread, if anything I was more clueless about it.

" You did this, didn't you?” I asked and looked at him with accusing eyes, he was clearly taken aback.

"I thought you did it? Besides I don't even know who you are, and it only happened after I picked you up from the garden and then brought you up here, I should be the one asking you what you did" he replied and tried pulling his hand.

I looked at him and back to the visible thread, if I could rewind time I would have preferred if he didn't carry me up,I was grateful that he bought me up here but lying there would have been better than for me to be stuck together with someone who I didn't know,I didn't want anyone interfering in my peaceful.

"If I had known that this would happen,I would have never touched you in the first place" he muttered in an irritated tone.

" Hey do you know what this is?” I asked him but he just shrugged.

"If I knew what it was and how to undo it,I wouldn't even have bothered staying here and my name isn't hey” he replied with authority.

His attitude reminded

me of someone I dearly wished that I could punch in the face one more time.
