My Roommate’s Boyfriend Rejected Me First
Zara Thorne · Completed · 8.3k Words
Introduction
I swore I’d never see him again until a hospital emergency forces us into the same room. Every quiet look tells me his rejection wasn‘t the whole story.
He’s supposed to be off-limits. He‘s hers. But the more I try to move on, the more he looks at me like I’m still his.
Can I resist the man who rejected me first or will the truth change everything?
Chapter 1
After one night with the man I’d secretly loved, I told him how I felt.
Adrian Cole raised an eyebrow. “What made you think sleeping with me would make me want you?”
I changed my number and moved to another city. Two years later, my roommate landed in the hospital with a high fever, and her wealthy boyfriend drove through the night to be with her.
It was Adrian.
In the hallway, he slipped an unlit cigarette back into its pack and looked at me without a flicker of recognition.
“Thanks for taking care of her. Let me get your Venmo. I’ll pay you back.”
He was wearing a bracelet..
Red braided cord, tied around Adrian’s wrist beneath the cuff of his expensive shirt. It looked out of place on him. I remembered tightening the last knot at our kitchen table while Vanessa Reed watched over my shoulder.
She’d paid me thirty dollars to make it.
“He can buy anything he wants,” she’d said. “What am I supposed to give a man like that? Something handmade actually means something.”
Vanessa was hopeless at crafts. I’d been happy enough to help. At the time, I hadn’t known her boyfriend’s name, let alone that he was the man I’d left town to avoid.
Now he stood a few feet from me, waiting for my answer, with my work on his wrist.
I looked down at my phone.
Two years hadn’t made his rejection any less embarrassing. I could still remember standing in front of him, trying to explain that my feelings hadn’t begun the night we slept together. I’d liked him long before that.
His answer hadn’t changed.
“I’m sorry. There’s someone else. I’m waiting for her.” He’d paused, then made certain I understood. “If I’d wanted to be with you, I wouldn’t have waited until now.”
So that was why none of the women who flirted with him ever got anywhere. He wasn’t unavailable to everyone. He was waiting for one particular woman.
“Okay,” I’d said. “I understand. I’ll go.”
I’d done a thorough job of going. New number, new city, no contact with anyone who might mention him.
And here he was, asking for my Venmo as though we’d met ten minutes ago.
“There’s no need,” I said.
I opened Venmo instead and held out my phone. “You owe me two hundred seventy-three dollars.”
Adrian didn’t take out his phone right away. His gaze stayed on my face long enough for me to wonder whether I’d sounded rude.
Then he sent it.
The payment arrived just as Vanessa called from her room.
“Adrian? Could you get me some water?”
“Of course.”
He turned away from me and went inside. I was putting my phone in my bag when I heard her again.
“You met my roommate, right? Isn’t she pretty? She’s been so good to me.”
His reply carried through the open door.
“I didn’t really notice.”
I believed him.
I’d met Adrian through his cousin, Sophie Cole. Sophie and I had been close friends in college, and she used to take me along when she went out with her cousin’s crowd.
I was usually the person standing at the edge of the group, holding the same drink all evening. Adrian never had to find a place for himself. People made room when he arrived.
Even the men who liked to talk about their money and connections chose their words more carefully around him. I’d noticed that before I understood much about his family.
Our actual history was short. He’d driven Sophie and me back to campus twice. Once, when we were caught in the rain, he’d held an umbrella over me.
That had been enough for me to start looking for him at every gathering.
It hadn’t been enough for him to remember my whole name.
On the night we ended up together, he’d asked, “You’re Bennett, right? What’s your first name?”
“Claire.”
I remembered how quietly I’d answered. I wished I could forget it.
After two years, why would he recognize me in a hospital hallway? Perhaps the face I’d spent so long dreading showed up in his memory only vaguely, if at all.
That possibility made it easier to leave.
I took a cab home alone. It was a little after five in the morning when I got to the apartment. I showered, put on pajamas, and went to bed before it was fully light.
A knock woke me later that afternoon.
Thinking Vanessa had come home, I hurried to open the door. Adrian stood on the other side.

Tango 2 the Alpha's Heart
My gaze snapped to his. He was smiling, causing my heart to skip a painful beat. Before I could respond, the music began, and my body instinctively reacted to the sweet melody.
I found myself molded to Lex's will, my feet irresistibly following the dance steps.
The crowd gasped as Lex pulled me into a more intimate position, his hands roaming over my body in a seductive manner.
The experience was both terrifying and magical, allowing me to feel every longing emotion through the dance.
I soon found myself lost in his arms.
When the music finally stopped, my arms were wrapped around his neck, his hands resting on my back, our noses almost touching. He gazed deeply into my eyes.
The ballroom fell silent.
Was he about to kiss me?

The Rejected Luna’s Rise
Luna Ariana Volkstane slid the formal rejection request across the table. "Let's end this bond. It's better for you, me, and your first love."
He just smirked. "You want me to reject you? You think you can break our bond that easily?"
So she did. Ariana cut ties with him completely, poured herself into her career, and rose to global fame as a legendary healer, her knowledge of rare herbs, wolf anatomy, and ancient magic sought after across continents.
The powerful suitors lined up. The Alpha of an overseas empire whispered, "Ariana, hurry up and perform the severing ritual. I can't wait to claim you." A powerful pack leader vowed, "I'll be there with you the day you break the bond." A legendary wolf attorney promised, "I'll handle your rejection case with the pack council myself."
Ariana just rubbed her temples. It's not that she didn't want the split, she wanted it more than anything, it's just that the Alpha she was mated to refused to let go.
Finally, she announced, "Whoever can officially get me rejected, I'll put you at the head table of my bond-breaking celebration."
Not long after, Alpha Damian was served the official rejection request right in the middle of an emergency pack council meeting. That same afternoon, he was attacked by rogues at the gates of his own territory.
When Ariana showed up at the pack infirmary with healing herbs, she repeated calmly, "Let's sever the mate bond. It's better for you, me, and everyone else."
But the cold, untouchable Alpha pulled her into his arms, his eyes blood-red with fury. "You want me to reject you? Over my dead body."
Bride To The Werewolf King
Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.
Taming the bully
" Pitiful....I'll make sure you are pitied more...in Hunsberg university, don't you think? "

Iron And Glamour Just Don't Mix
Well… Sometimes you just might turn out to be right.
It turns out, the fae stole my little brother. In his place? A pixie with boundary issues and a talent for home repairs.
I’ve spent my life taking care of everyone else. So when my baby brother is taken, I don’t hesitate. I walk straight into a faerie mansion and make a bargain with its infuriatingly charming master.
Kie is everything you’d expect from a dangerous fae, beautiful, political, and entirely too amused by me. Power wrapped in a smirk. Sensual, mischievous, and far too aware of the effect he has on people. He agrees to help me find my brother.
For a price.
Now I’m bound by a faerie bargain and navigating a world of glamour, manipulation, and ancient rules I definitely should have learned sooner, enchanted forests, political games, magical contracts, and a fae lord who treats seduction like a perfectly reasonable negotiation tactic.
Iron is how I keep people out.
Glamour is how he draws them in.
And apparently, they just don’t mix.
My Perverse: You're mine, you son of a bitch
Vincenzo Valentini is a man who sees the world as a business counter and human beings as merchandise.
The owner of an empire built upon corpses and submission, he is the reflection of pure perversity.
When fate places Andrew Thompson, the son of his greatest rival, into his hands, the plan was simple: use him, break him, and discard him like a toy that has lost its appeal.
What Vincenzo did not expect was that, beneath the youthful skin and the appearance of innocence, Andrew hid the same abyss as he did.
Vincenzo never wanted redemption. He never wanted someone to save him from his own darkness. He was seeking a mirror. And in Andrew, he found the partner who, upon seeing his blood-stained hands, does not recoil in terror, but trembles with desire.
In this perverse game, the "little toy" proves to be the perfect executioner. The mafia leader found someone who not only accepts his cruel side but cultivates it, feeding the monster Vincenzo has always been.
Where there should have been fear, lust emerged. Where there should have been hatred, a perverse loyalty was born. Andrew Thompson is the dark reflection of Vincenzo, the soldier the underworld did not see coming, and the man who proved that, for some, paradise only makes sense if it is in the middle of chaos.
Vincenzo opened the doors to his empire, but Andrew was the only one capable of invading his heart.
They are not heroes. They are hell on earth.
