Oops! I Ordered a Mate But Got a Lycan King
Joy Brown · Completed · 8.7k Words
Introduction
I had paid a six-figure premium to contract a high-level werewolf mate from the nation’s top "Fated Mates" agency. I had chosen him for his elite stats, the "absolute submission" guaranteed in his file, and most importantly, a face that could put any Hollywood A-lister to shame.
But over the last few months, things had completely derailed from my expectations.
He refused to let me touch him!
I have to figure out what's going on.
Chapter 1
Wearing my newly purchased black lace lingerie, I padded barefoot across the hallway runner.
I pushed his bedroom door open. Caleb stood by the window.
He was incredibly tall. At nearly six-foot-three, his sheer size radiated an overwhelming, oppressive aura. His broad shoulders completely filled out his simple gray T-shirt, the fabric stretching taut across his muscular back.
I took a deep breath and deliberately closed the distance, pressing myself against his back.
"Caleb, it's late," I dropped my voice to a sultry whisper, reaching up to drape my arms over his shoulders.
Yet, he didn't even turn around.
He merely sidestepped with chilling indifference, flawlessly dodging my touch.
"Master, please maintain a safe distance."
A spark of fury instantly flared in my chest.
"A safe distance?" I gritted my teeth, glaring at his flawlessly stoic face. "I didn't pay for a bodyguard! You're my mate!"
Caleb lowered his gaze. His deep, dark eyes were entirely devoid of emotion.
"If my services are unsatisfactory, you may file a complaint with the agency. But for now, please return to your room and rest."
The same damn script again!
Every time I tried to close the gap between us, every single hint I dropped, he shoved me away with this infuriatingly professional indifference.
I trembled with rage and spun on my heel. "Fine. You just wait. I'm getting to the bottom of this right now!"
Storming back into my bedroom, I immediately pulled up my terminal and contacted the agency's VIP customer service.
I furiously fired off a barrage of messages. [I demand an explanation! Why is my werewolf completely unresponsive to me? I want his forced-submission command unlocked immediately!]
A minute later, the rep's replies bombarded my screen.
[We are so sorry, Ma'am! Please, do not do anything rash!]
[We've verified our backend data. Due to a system glitch, we sent you the wrong werewolf!]
[Caleb isn't a companion model at all! He is a top-tier, extremely dangerous Guardian-Class!]
I froze. A loud ringing filled my ears.
The rep continued to frantically spam my chat. Even through the screen, I could feel their sheer terror.
[Guardian-Class werewolves have absolutely no mate functions! They are hardwired solely for defense and slaughter!]
[Under the Supreme Secrecy Act, it is strictly forbidden to force a Guardian-Class into submission! If you trigger a forced command, or attempt to force yourself on him...]
[It will instantly trigger his feral instincts! The moment his tolerance reaches its breaking point, he will tear you to shreds! Your life is in extreme danger!]
Force him? Trigger feral instincts? Tear me to shreds?
A cold sweat instantly drenched my lace nightwear.
Memories of the past few months flashed through my mind. In an attempt to build our bond, I had ordered him to sleep on my bedroom rug, forced him to link arms with me in public, and literally five minutes ago, I had tried to force myself on him.
What the hell had I been doing?!
I had been toying with a lethal predator!
No wonder his rejections were always so brutally cold. He wasn't playing hard to get—he was desperately suppressing the urge to snap my neck!
In that moment, a raw survival instinct utterly obliterated any lingering hormones.
I vaulted off the bed, sprinted to the rug, and grabbed Caleb’s pillow and blankets. I chucked them out into the hallway, slammed the door shut, and locked it.
A few seconds later, heavy footsteps echoed outside my room.
Out of character, he actually knocked on the door himself. "What is this? You don't need me standing guard inside tonight?"
I leaned my entire weight against the heavy wood, gulping hard as I forced my voice to sound casual. "Yeah. I’ve been a light sleeper lately. I want to sleep alone. You can take the guest room."
Dead silence answered me. A long moment passed—so long that I thought his patience had snapped. Finally, his deep voice drifted through the wood. "Understood."
I slumped against the door and slid to the floor, gasping for air.
My terminal chimed with a compensation offer from the agency.
[Ma'am, we apologize immensely for the scare. To make up for this fatal error, we will issue a full refund and immediately dispatch an absolutely docile, Sexy-Class Golden Retriever werewolf as compensation. Do you accept?]
Shamefully, I was tempted. This was exactly what I had originally signed up for.
Since Caleb was a lethal, unthawable block of ice, why should I keep betting my life on him?
I decisively tapped my reply: [Agreed!]
The next morning, I deliberately stalled in my bedroom for ages, just to avoid running into him.
I needed to put distance between us. Starting today, keeping my distance was my only rule for survival.
When I finally crept into the dining room, Caleb had already prepared breakfast.
I had to admit, his domestic skills were flawless. But right now, that meant absolutely nothing to me.
I kept my head bowed the entire time, refusing to even glance in his direction. I marched straight to the far end of the long dining table and pulled out the chair furthest away from him.
Just as I was about to sit, a towering shadow entirely eclipsed the overhead lights.
Caleb had materialized right beside me.
His sharp features remained completely expressionless, yet the dark, oppressive aura radiating from him crushed down on me like a physical weight.
Before I could even open my mouth to ask, his arm shot out. His large, calloused hand gripped my waist, as unyielding as a steel vice.
"Ah!" A gasp tore from my throat.
With terrifying ease, his immense arm strength hoisted me off the ground with a single hand!
Panic seized me the instant my feet left the floor. A second later, I was slammed downward.
My eyes flew wide in shock. I had been forced to straddle his rock-hard, scorching-hot lap!
"What are you doing?!" My heart hammered frantically in my chest.
I stiffened completely, slamming my hands against his broad chest in a desperate bid to create some space between us. "Let go! Caleb, put me down!"
But struggling against him was like fighting a brick wall.
Caleb abruptly tightened his arm around my waist, caging me flush against his body without a single inch of breathing room.
He suddenly leaned in. His devastatingly handsome, aggressive face closed the distance, his icy breath brushing against the shell of my ear.
Caleb’s voice was dangerously husky. "What is this? You've decided to be independent now? You don't need me anymore... is that it?"

How Not To Fall For A Dragon
Which is why it was more than a little confusing when a letter arrived with my name already printed on a schedule, a dorm waiting, and classes picked out as if someone knew me better than I knew myself. Everyone knows the Academy, it’s where witches sharpen their spells, shifters master their forms, and every kind of magical creature learns to control their gifts.
Everyone except me.
I don’t even know what I am. No shifting, no magic tricks, nothing. Just a girl surrounded by people who can fly, conjure fire, or heal with a touch. So I sit through classes pretending I belong, and I listen hard for any clue that might tell me what’s hidden in my blood.
The only person more curious than me is Blake Nyvas, tall, golden-eyed, and very much a Dragon. People whisper that he’s dangerous, warn me to keep my distance. But Blake seems determined to solve the mystery of me, and somehow I trust him more than anyone else.
Maybe it’s reckless. Maybe it’s dangerous.

A pack of their own
The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
New to the world of shifters, Draven is human on the run. A beautiful girl who no one could protect. Domonic is the cold Alpha of the Red Wolf Pack. A brotherhood of twelve wolves that live by twelve rules. Rules which they vowed could NEVER be broken.

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

Rise of the Banished She-Wolf
That roar stole my eighteenth birthday and shattered my world. My first shift should have been glory—blood turned blessing into shame. By dawn they'd branded me "cursed": cast out by my pack, abandoned by family, stripped of my nature. My father didn't defend me—he sent me to a forsaken island where wolfless outcasts were forged into weapons, forced to kill each other until only one could leave.
On that island I learned the darkest edges of humanity and how to bury terror in bone. Countless times I wanted to surrender—dive into the waves and never surface—but the accusing faces that haunted my dreams pushed me back toward something colder than survival: revenge. I escaped, and for three years I hid among humans, collecting secrets, learning to move like a shadow, sharpening patience into precision—becoming a blade.
Then, under a full moon, I touched a bleeding stranger—and my wolf returned with a violence that made me whole. Who was he? Why could he wake what I'd thought dead?
One thing I know: now is the time.
I have waited three years for this. I will make everyone who destroyed me pay—and take back everything that was stolen from me.
Invisible To Her Bully
Falling For The Biker: The Vice President's Girl
His eyes darken, flicking to my mouth.
"It's wrong. Your brother would slit my throat for just standing this close. But tell me, little bird" his breath ghosts my skin, "are you trembling because you hate me… or because you've wanted this just as much as I have?"
Wren thought she'd buried the chaos of New Orleans for good—the clubs, the blood-soaked loyalties, the men who lived and died by their kuttes. Seattle gave her everything she ever wanted: freedom, love, a future.
But one betrayal shatters it all.

And the deeper Wren is pulled back into his world, the more she realizes nothing about her past—or about Ezra—is what she believed.
In the chaos of gang wars, mounting debts, and old betrayals, he becomes the one constant. The more she fights him, the harder she falls. And the more he pushes her away, the more lethal his pull becomes.
Because in this world, love isn't sweet.
It's brutal. Bloody.
And it's bound to break them both.
When loyalty is everything and love can cost your life, will Wren risk her heart on the one man she was never meant to love?
