Pregnant By Contract: The Billionaire's Uncertain Heir
manurex · Ongoing · 174.8k Words
Introduction
My sister’s heart is failing. The medical bills are a death sentence. So I do the unthinkable: I auction myself to the highest bidder. Ten million dollars for one son. No love. No future. Just a contract.
Ethan Hopper is a cold, powerful god in a bespoke suit. He doesn’t want a wife. He needs an heir—within ten months—or he loses his billion-dollar empire. And I’m nothing but a clinical transaction to him.
But his manor is a gilded cage of monsters. By day I play the blushing bride to keep my sister alive. By night I’m hunted by his vengeful ex-fiancée and a brother-in-law who smells my secrets. Then the ultimate betrayal shatters everything.
In a haze of wine and vengeance, Ethan’s predatory father, Richard, commits an act of unspeakable cruelty. When I finally see those two pink lines, my joy turns to gut-wrenching terror. I’m carrying the Hopper heir… but I don’t know if the child belongs to the cold husband I’ve begun to crave… or to his monstrous father.
Some bargains are written in ink.
The most dangerous ones are written in blood.
Chapter 1
Ginny’s POV
“You leave here, she dies.”
I kept hearing those words even after the man who said them had walked away. They followed me out of the café, into the rain, all the way back to my own thoughts. And the worst part? He was totally right.
Earlier today, I’d stood in a hospital hallway, watching my little sister through the glass like she was something fragile I wasn’t allowed to touch. The hallway smelled antiseptic and something metallic underneath it, the kind of smell that made you very aware that this building was full of people fighting to stay alive.
Holly was connected to a machines. Monitors. Drips. Tubes that breathed for her when she couldn’t manage on her own. She looked so small in that bed, like she’d been shrinking since she got here, like the illness was slowly taking up more space and leaving less room for her. I pressed my palm flat against the glass and I stayed until a nurse asked me, gently, to please take a seat.
I spent hours at the hospital before I made myself leave. I didn't even know where I was going. The rain stopped and then continued for the second time.
The doctor’s words kept circling back, the same way a bad smell does when you think you've escaped it. “Two million for the transplant, Miss Adams. Without it, your sister has days, not weeks."
Those words won't leave me. The more I kept trying to forget about it, the more it kept playing in my head. They keep playing on a loop inside my head, over and over, like a song I never asked to learn. I don’t even remember deciding to go to the café. I just looked up and I was sitting in a corner booth with a cup of coffee going cold in front of me and my phone face-up on the table, the screen dark.
The café was small and mostly empty. Rain hammered the windows in sheets, turning the street outside into a blur of gray. I've been sitting here for about two hours staring at my phone, watching Holly's face in my memory pale, still, hooked up to more machines than I could count. My little sister was dying. The only family I have left. Lying in that hospital bed like she's already halfway gone.
My phone screen lights up. I almost didn't look. Then I did.
“Critical update: Holly's condition is worsening. Surgery is required within 72 hours.”
My hands started to shake. I pressed them flat on the table to make them stop, but they won't. Two million dollars. That's a lot of money. My salary for the next fifteen years combined wouldn't touch that. I have no savings. No assets. No one left to call. I've already called everyone I know.
At this point, I'm out of options.
I grabbed my bag. I need to move, to do something, because sitting here is making me feel like I'm already watching her die.
That's when a shadow fell over the table. At first I didn't look.
After about 7 seconds, I looked up ready to excuse myself and leave. But then a voice stopped me cold.
"You leave here, she dies."
I froze immediately.
He sat down without asking. No greeting, no apology for invading my space. He set a leather folder on the table between us and folded his hands like a man who had all the time in the world. I stared at him. Dark suit, sharp jaw, eyes like two pieces of flint. The kind that could spark a fire or leave you bleeding. I didn’t know this man from anywhere. I have never seen him in my life.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"Ethan Hopper."
The name meant nothing to me, but the way he said it, like I should already know. Like the whole world should already know.
He dropped an envelope on the table. It landed with a weight that felt heavier than it should, like it contained more than just paper.
"I'll make this simple," he says. "Ten months. Ten million dollars. A male heir. In exchange, your sister lives."
I stared at him. I wait for the punchline. For the hidden camera. For someone to come out laughing and tell me this is some twisted reality show.
No one came.
"Is this a joke?" My voice came out raspy, scraped dry by hours of crying I refused to do in public. "Are you seriously sitting here telling me you want to buy a child?"
"Business," he said, and took a slow sip of his coffee like we were discussing quarterly reports.
"I'm doing this because it's the only option I have left. My grandfather is dying. Without an heir, the company passes out of the family entirely. I need to secure the inheritance before that happens."
I let out a short, bitter laugh. It sounded wrong even to my own ears. "So you came to a café and picked a stranger you didn't even know?"
"I didn't pick a stranger." His eyes didn't move from mine. "I picked someone with no other choice."
The silence that followed that sentence was the loudest thing I have ever heard.
I pushed the envelope back to him. "Find someone else okay? I can't sell my womb to a stranger.”
He didn't flinch. He didn't argue. He just stood buttoning his jacket with the kind of calm that made me want to scream.
"You'll say yes," he says, looking down at me with those flat, unreadable eyes. "Because you still love her. And you don't want her to die, Ginny."
He walked away before I could respond. I watched him go, my chest tight, my fingers still pressed hard against the table.
Then my phone rang..
"Miss Adams." The doctor's voice was careful in the way that people are careful right before they destroy you. "We're running out of time. If we wait any longer, I'm afraid you may not get to see her awake again. I need you to understand how serious this is."
The call ended. I sit for one second, completely still.
Then I grabbed my bag and I ran.
Outside, the rain hit me all at once. I looked left. Right. The street was full of strangers and gray light and moving umbrellas, and Ethan Hopper is gone. I grabbed the arm of a woman nearby.
"Did you see a tall, dark suit man, he just walked out of this café…”
"Sorry, I didn't notice anyone."
I asked three more people. A man waiting for a bus. A shop owner standing in his doorway. A delivery driver loading boxes. Nobody saw him. Nobody noticed. It was like he dissolved into the rain.
I'm soaked thoroughly now. My hair plastered to my face and my shoes were filled with water and I was standing in the middle of the street feeling completely, utterly alone.
That's when I saw him.
Across the road, behind a wall of glass, a sleek office building I hadn't noticed before. Ethan was inside, standing near the window with a phone pressed to his ear. Dry. Calm. Like the rain didn't exist for someone like him.
I crossed the street without thinking. I stopped just outside the glass, close enough to almost make out his words through the noise of the rain hammering the pavement.
"She turned you down. Why?" A pause. His voice sharpened. "I thought she would accept the moment she heard the amount."
I went stil..
He's talking about me. Someone told him about me. Someone sent him to that café. This was never a coincidence. None of it was.
My heart was hammering so hard I could feel it in my throat. I thought about Holly. I thought about the way her hands felt in mine this morning so light, like she was already starting to disappear. I thought about the machines and the beeping and the doctor's careful, voice.
Ten million dollars.
Holly lives.
I pushed open the door.
Ethan ended the call the instant I stepped inside, like he was already expecting me. Of course he was. He turned slowly and watched me drip rainwater onto his polished floor. He didn't offer a towel. He didn't offer anything.
"I'll do it."
That was all I said. Three words, standing there soaking wet in his perfectly dry office, water running down my neck into my collar.
Something shifted in his expression immediately. Not quite a smile. More like the quiet satisfaction of a man watching a prediction come true. He crossed to the desk and picked up the contract already printed, already waiting and set it in front of me with a pen resting on top.
I looked at it. The words blur a little. The numbers didn't
“Are you sure you want to do this, Ginny? You can still have a change of mind. Because the moment you sign it, there is no going back.”
The thought arrived in my own voice, quiet and frightened, from somewhere deep inside me.
I picked up the pen, my eyes closed as I took a deep breath.
"I'll do it," I said again. Louder this time. Like saying it twice makes it real. Like saying it twice means I'm sure.
My hands were still trembling when I signed my name.
I didn't cry. I refuse to cry in front of this man. But my eyes burned and my chest ached and my signature looked nothing like it usually does all shaky lines and broken curves.
Ethan picked up the contract. He barely glanced at it before sliding it into his folder. Then he checked his watch with the same unbothered expression he had worn since the moment he sat down across from me in that café. No warmth. No acknowledgment of what I just traded away. Nothing.
He smiled. It doesn't reach his eyes.
"Good choice, Ginny." He tucked the folder under his arm and nodded toward the door. "The car is waiting. We're going to the courthouse now."

To protect what’s mine
Vengeance of the Forsaken Luna
"Bella." Ethan's tone shifted, taking on that warning edge I knew too well. "Faye is vulnerable right now. She's terrified you'll resent her, that this will divide the pack. The last thing she wants is for this baby to come between us."
"Then you shouldn't have done it." I met his eyes squarely, letting him see the ice in mine. "Go back to your son."
"For fuck's sake." He dragged a hand through his hair. "How many times—it was artificial insemination. They used my sperm, yes, but Faye and I never—"
Bella let out a cold snort. Such brazen lies. Her mate had an affair with his brother's partner, and his entire family helped force her out with nothing, all to make way for the mistress to take her rightful position. Poor fool—he thought she was just an unwanted adopted daughter, easy to dismiss and control. He never knew the computer genius he'd been searching for was his own Luna.
Since he'd tainted himself, Bella was done. She rejected him and reclaimed what was hers, rising to the top with help from Victor, who'd been secretly in love with her for years.
When Ethan tried winning her back: "You don't want our child growing up fatherless."
Bella smiled mockingly. "The child's father isn't you."
Cursed Beauty and her Three Alpha Mates

Fate drags her into the path of Kael Draven, the ruthless Lycan King who claims her… only to reject her.
But Kael is not the only Alpha bound to her.
Finn, her childhood best friend and the rising Alpha, loves her with a devotion so fierce, he spends four years locked away in the most ruthless dungeon only to keep her safe.
Xander, a rogue wolf who can make even Alphas bow to his will, has waited centuries for her to be reborn, and he has no intention of losing her again.
Three Alphas.
Three claims.
One cursed destiny.
They called her wolfless. They thought she was weak. But she is done hiding, and this time, she's rewriting the rules.
HER ALPHA, HER SAVIOUR
Kane Hellboud, charm and wealth personified, wanted only me in exchange for her treatment. No cameras, isolation, or noose-like rules were part of the deal. Behind his smile? Cold, violent possessiveness that destroyed our fake marriage.
Most of all, I didn’t know the supernatural walked among us, hiding in the cracks of ordinary life. Not until Abel Stone stepped into mine—dark-eyed, sharp-tongued, and oozing dangerous promises. He’s my new boss. He shouldn’t make my skin tingle or my pulse race. I shouldn’t feel this primal pull, this illogical recognition that tugs at something deep in my bones.
Around him, lights burst, electronics fry, and something ancient in me awakens.
Kane feels it. His grip tightens, punishments turn brutal, and he hides the truth of what I am.
Trapped between two powerful men, I’m no prey, no pawn—no helpless victim.
Prisons burn. Monsters bleed. As for me? I'm the storm in skin—deadly beyond suspicion.
The Contract Wife: Marriage Of Malice
He didn't finish. He didn't need to.
I didn't tell him to stop.
Instead, my fingers curled into his shirt, clutching the fabric as though it was my only anchor. Something in him snapped—something he had been holding back for too long. His mouth found mine in a kiss that wasn't tender, but hungry, desperate.
I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
Ella never imagined she would marry the man she had secretly loved for years in such a way.
When her brother Theo faced twenty-five years in prison for massive embezzlement, the ruthless business tycoon James Lancaster offered her a deal: marry him in exchange for her brother's freedom.
This wasn't a fairy tale proposal, but a carefully orchestrated revenge. Because in James's heart, Ella was the culprit who had killed his sister Cecilia. He wanted her to pay the price—to atone with a lifetime of suffering.
Falling for my boyfriend's Navy brother
"What is wrong with me?
Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?
It’s just newness, I tell myself firmly.
He’s my boyfirend’s brother.
This is Tyler’s family.
I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.
