Chapter 1
Freya's POV
"Why can't you do anything right!" I heard the head chef yell, throwing lettuce at me and I sighed not doing anything because why…that wasn't the first time something like that was happening to me.
I knew I was in trouble when one of the kitchen maids called to tell me that the head chef was looking for me. She was a woman that didn't care about my existence but her looking for me was like a brew of trouble.
I am an outcast that anyone can use as a garbage dump and nothing is going to happen.
I looked around the kitchen to see some maids gossiping about me pointing fingers but I tore my eyes away from them when I noticed the head maid walking towards me and I stepped back in fear of what she might do to me.
"Why are you not answering? Why did you put so much salt in this soup!" She yelled at my face.
'How can I put salt in a soup when I wasn't instructed to do so?' I mulled but I knew better than to say that. Whoever did that and pinned it on me wanted me to take the fall and that was what I was going to do.
Take the fall for everything like always…without fighting back.
"I am sorry ma'am, I just think…" I was saying, but she interrupted me. "Sorry? Did you think sorry can fix this you hopeless orphan!" She screamed to my face and immediately the words left her mouth and my chest burned in anger.
'Why did they always think like that? Why did they always rub it on my face that I was hopeless and had nobody to stand up for me?' I screamed in my head but even though my head was roaring with thoughts I still kept my composure.
"Since you prove to be useless I do not want to see you in my kitchen anymore..get lost!" The woman says giving me an indefinite suspension.
I balked my hands into a fist at the unfairness but I bowed my head leaving the kitchen…maybe I could really use a day off.
"Did you get in trouble with that witch again," I heard a rather familiar voice and I turned to see my friend, Bella smiling at me.
Bella, is the only one who treated me like a human in the pack and her family brought me up but she also lost her family in a pack attack so we only have each other.
I explained what happened at the kitchen to her and she snorted, telling me that it was the head chef's loss by not having me in the kitchen.
While talking about my suspension she invited me to work as a server at the alpha's ball that was held that night.
"Are you crazy? Why did you mean I should follow you to work at the alpha's ball? If Mrs. Lupe hears about it she is going to kill me," I say shaking my head, showing Bella that there was no way I was agreeing to her idea.
It was already bad enough that the whole kitchen staff hated me…I can't go to the organizing staff and mess things up too.
"Are you crazy, Freya? Why should you let that old witch dictate what you do on your suspension to you," Bella argued and I agree with what she said.
It was true that I was on suspension so why can't I go to the Alpha's ball and make some extra cash? It's my eighteenth birthday and I might get lucky running into my mate at the ball.
It was a win-win situation for me! I thought and I turned to smile at Bella for an awesome offer like that and she smiled telling me that she got me.
We both agreed to meet in the evening so we could go to the hall and get ready for the pack and I was already anticipating for the evening to come…I could feel that something was going to happen.
Something great, I hope.
The starry night was illuminated by the bright moon and the stars that littered over which brought a smile to my lip as I stood at the hall entrance welcoming the guests into the party and it was fun.
Because there was no passing me a disgusting look for being an orphan…it was such a relief.
"Welcome to the party," I beamed at people to trooping and I heard Bella scoff beside me complaining about how I was doing great when I wasn't getting paid so much.
After welcoming the guests I started serving drinks and beamed a smile at a man who was throwing a flirty gaze at me and I immediately looked away from him not wanting to be involved in any scandal at all.
I already have enough for today. I left their table to serve the other girls but I felt my body become restless like something was wrong and before I could understand what was going on my legs moved voluntarily on their own.
I was still restless and didn't look where I was going which made me bump into someone with the drinks in my hands.
"Pahhh!" The sound of the glasses shattering on the floor jolted me back to my senses and my eyes widened when I saw the mess that I had created.
I looked at the person that I had drenched in the drink I was holding and my eyes widened in shock.
It was the Alpha! I am doomed! I panicked but a pleasant smell wafted into my nose and when I raised my head I saw the Alpha looking at me with so much anger and hatred but at that time I heard my wolf growl.
"Mate!" I breathed out without thinking and my breath seized at the realization of what just happened.
The Alpha is my mate…and I just drenched him with drinks.

"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.
