Chapter 5 Happy Cooperation

~AKIRA~

I stood in front of the elegant building. On the signboard was written “Cloud Cafe”, which Bryan had asked me to meet him at.

My throat rolled and my fist clenched nervously, but thinking about the urgent matter at hand, I took a deep breath and stepped inside the elegant cafe.

This wasn't my first time in the cafe as this place has always been the most low-key but most expensive cafe frequented by the wealthy as they were also known for their secrecy.

“Hello, are you Mrs Akira?”

A voice interrupted my thoughts which were already in disarray.

I spun around sharply, my eyes meeting with the eyes of a lady dressed in the uniform of a waitress.

A polite smile appeared on my face, “Yes, I am.” I responded calmly.

“Please, do follow me, Mr Bryan has been waiting for you.” She said, then walked forward while I immediately followed behind her.

My brows furrowed though.

I had thought I would be the one waiting for Bryan since I was the one who needed help, besides, at the thought of how I had rejected him the first time, I had thought he would make things difficult for me.

I sighed, my eyes shook, but it was covered up with firmness, “As long as he doesn't do too much, I’ll endure anything.” I muttered in a low but determined voice.

In no time, we got to the door of a private room. I watched as the waitress left after bringing me here. With no time, I stepped up and knocked on the door politely.

“Come in.”

My movement paused at the sound of the familiar voice.

Cold, low, calm and one thing I had noticed from the start—Sexiness.

My brain jolted from my thoughts, and my face flushed.

“What the hell are you thinking about?!” I scolded myself, then inhaled deeply before I pushed the door and walked in.

The moment I walked in, my eyes met with the man who sat on the couch elegantly.

Though his back was turned towards me, I couldn't help but notice the aura that spread from him.

My eyes shook with emotions I couldn't understand, but I knew nervousness was part of it.

“Will he agree to help me? At what cost? Will he find my requests stupid after I had rejected him the other day?

“Hmm…” I let out a little sigh, but it seemed he noticed as I saw him turn to look at me.

My heart jolted as his dark eyes focused on me, my breathing slowed and my mind dazed. His eyes appeared calm but cold and indifferent like he couldn't care less even if the world fell.

So indifferent…

“What are you standing there for, Ms. Akira?” he nodded, then his lips pursed, “We meet again.”

The word I was about to say got stuck in my throat. The word “We meet again” sounded so sarcastic in my ears and the feeling of embarrassment overwhelmed me.

Who would have known that circumstances would change?

But, who cares about shame now?

My lips curled up in a cold smile and my eyes narrowed deeply.

In a second, I was sitting in front of Bryan.

The air was silent as we both stared at each other but only I knew how nervous I was.

“You divorced him,” Bryan said confidently.

“Yes, I did!” I admitted, then sat up and looked straight at him, “Is what you said the last time still valid? As long as I agree to your condition you will help me seek revenge?” I asked coldly.

His brows furrowed, “Tell me everything!” He spat.

I felt hatred fill me as I recalled everything, I went ahead to tell him everything, not leaving anything behind except for the death of my unborn children. I told him how I had been deceived by Stella and the lawyer and how they were in cahoots with Leon. I told him about the seizure of my properties.

My chest heaved after I explained it all and by the time I was done, my eyes had turned bloodshot and my body had begun to tremble with rage. But then, I knew there was no time to wallow in my despair.

I raised my head to look at the man in front of me.

I watched as his eyes narrowed in a mysterious manner. His legs crossed as he sat back relaxingly which made me a bit anxious.

He smirked, “I can, but don't you want to know what condition I have for you?” He asked, his voice still relaxed.

My brows furrowed in a tight frown. My eyes closed as I recalled the words of the lawyers, the humiliation I had faced, the pain and…

“As long as you can help me seek revenge and take back the properties that belong to me, then I'm ready for whatever!”

My heart throbbed after my words. It wasn't like I couldn't understand what I was getting into, but the betrayal… the pain and the deceit I had gone through for the last few years wouldn't let me be at peace if I didn't make those betrayals pay for their crimes!

“So…” I drawled as I fixed my gaze on him, “What do you think?” my fist secretly clenched tightly while my breath froze.

“Akira…”

The sound of my name on his lips made me gulp. My eyes shook as emotions I couldn't understand flashed past them.

How long has someone called my name calmly like I mattered? How long has someone called my birth name with so much gentleness? The sound of my name on his lips made the turmoil that had been piercing through my blood calm.

“Mr Bryan,” I responded.

I watched as he stood up and walked towards me calmly.

His steps were unhurried, and when he stopped in front of me, my breath seized.

I couldn't understand what he was trying to do, but somehow, I had that trust in him that he wouldn't hurt me, but I also had that feeling that what was coming was something—

“I can help you. But I would also need your promise that you would help me when it was time when I needed you and… I need your promise!”

His heavy voice made me contemplate, but I knew I had to agree to this because there was no other option.

My red eyes became firmer and I looked him in the eyes, “As long as you don't betray me, I wouldn't betray you!”

His brows raised but he didn't say another word.

I looked at him anxiously and waited with bated breath for his final decision.

Bryan looked at me for a while, then straightened himself.

“I’ll ask my assistant to bring you to an apartment, and you can stay there for now.”

My eyes lit up immediately, my heart which had been high up fell and my back which had been straight since I walked into the room relaxed.

My lips trembled, but not a single tear fell from my eyes. Even if I had found help, I knew this was all a contract between us.

Suddenly, something flashed in my head. My head tilted slightly as I asked, “You still haven't told me what you need me for, though, besides I still don't know why you’re doing this.”

Bryan who stood in front of me froze for a second, he turned around to look at me, the temperature in the room became lower which startled me. But then, he returned to normal and looked at me with those dark eyes of his, “When the time comes, you would know what I need you for. But just know I have a feud with your Ex-husband, Leon.”

My eyes shook, but the doubt in my eyes cleared up. With a smile, I s

tood up with my hand stretched forward.

“Then, happy cooperation, Mr Bryan,” I said lightly.

“Happy cooperation, Ms Akira.”
