Goodness Ogu · Ongoing · 345.0k Words
Introduction
Lucas offers her a marriage of convenience because an inheritance condition threatens his control of Hartwell Group. Amelia agrees to protect her future child and save her failing studio, hoping that their arrangement may eventually become something real.
Instead, Lucas’s manipulative ex-girlfriend, Vivienne Ashford, convinces him that Amelia is after his money. When Amelia overhears Lucas say that he would not want her if she were not carrying his child, she leaves before dawn taking their unborn daughter and the heirloom necklace Lucas gave her.
Four years later, Amelia has transformed herself into the respected CEO of Vale Atelier. She is independent, successful, and raising their daughter, Lily, alone.
At a charity gala, Lucas sees Lily wearing his late mother’s necklace and recognizes his own eyes in the little girl’s face. His world collapses when he realizes Amelia left carrying his child.
Lucas wants a relationship with Lily and another chance with Amelia. But Amelia refuses to let the man who once broke her heart hurt their daughter too.
Chapter 1
Amelia Vale had spent three hours practicing how to look like she belonged among people who bought penthouses without asking the price.
By nine o’clock, her feet ached in borrowed black heels, the champagne had gone flat in her glass, and six people had glanced at her name tag before looking for someone more important.
Still, she smiled. Tonight mattered too much not to.
The Hartwell Foundation’s annual Winter Light Gala occupied the top floor of the Ashbourne Museum of Art. Glass walls overlooked the harbor, and chandeliers cast gold light over gowns, tuxedos, and polished marble. Every major developer, investor, and architect in the city seemed to be there.
And somewhere in the crowd was Julian Mercer.
Julian had ignored Amelia’s last three emails and the revised proposal she had sent for the Mercer Hotel renovation. But two days ago, his assistant had mentioned he would attend the gala.
Amelia had taken it as a sign.
She tightened her grip on her clutch, careful not to wrinkle the business card inside.
Vale Studio. Restoration and Interior Design.
If Julian signed the contract, she could pay the studio rent and the overdue supplier invoice. She could stop pretending not to notice the red warnings in her bank account.
“Amelia.”
She turned sharply.
Julian Mercer stood near a display of white orchids, holding a whiskey. Beside him was his wife, Celeste, dressed in a silver dress covered in shiny tiny diamonds.
Amelia approached without rushing. “Mr. Mercer. Thank you for agreeing to speak with me.”
Julian gave her a distracted nod. “Of course.”
He had not agreed to anything.
Celeste looked her over. “You’re the designer from that little studio in Westbridge, aren’t you?”
“Yes. Vale Studio.”
“The one with all the old brick buildings.”
“Historic restoration is one of our specialties,” Amelia said. “The Mercer Hotel project would combine preservation with a modern luxury concept. I think the original structure can be—”
“Julian,” Celeste interrupted, “didn’t I tell you she would be here?”
Discomfort crossed Julian’s face.
“I wanted to discuss the proposal,” Amelia continued. “If you have five minutes, I can walk you through the revisions.”
Julian exhaled. “Amelia, perhaps this isn’t the right place.”
“It may be the only place you’ve given me.”
Celeste’s mouth curved. “How direct.”
Amelia should have stepped away, but she had spent six weeks studying the hotel’s blueprints and researching its hand-painted tile. She had imagined restoring its faded beauty without erasing its history.
More than that, she needed the job.
“I understand you’re busy,” Amelia said. “But my design is exactly what you said you wanted, something that honors the building’s history while making it relevant again.”
Julian looked past her, already distracted.
Celeste laughed softly. “Oh, sweetheart. Julian doesn’t want the hotel to look like a museum.”
Heat rose up Amelia’s neck. “It wouldn’t. That isn’t what I proposed.”
“Maybe you should focus on decorating cafés and little apartments. Luxury hospitality is a different world.”
Around them, conversations and music continued. No one stopped to stare. Somehow, that made it worse.
Julian finally looked at Amelia. She saw the decision in his eyes before he spoke.
“I’ve decided to go in another direction. A larger firm with more experience handling a property of this scale.”
Amelia’s stomach dropped. “You could have told me that in an email.”
“I intended to.”
“You had my team working on revisions this morning.”
His expression hardened. “I didn’t authorize that.”
Celeste placed a hand on his arm. “Don’t be cruel, darling. Miss Vale is clearly passionate.”
Humiliation struck so sharply Amelia could barely breathe. Neither of them seemed to care that they had pulled the floor from under her.
“I’m sorry to have taken up your time,” she said.
Julian nodded and turned away.
Amelia walked before they could see her eyes sting.
She passed waiters carrying silver trays and guests discussing waterfront property as if whole neighborhoods were pieces on a board. Near the coatroom, she found a narrow hallway and stopped beside a tall window.
Ashbourne Harbor glittered beneath the winter sky.
Amelia pressed her palm against the glass.
You will not cry here.
The studio had survived worse than one lost contract. She had survived worse than rich people deciding she was too small to matter.
Her father had taught her that buildings held the marks of everyone who had lived, worked, loved, and hoped within their walls. Restoration was not about pretending age had never happened. It was about refusing to let history be discarded.
She could keep going.
Tomorrow, she would ask the landlord for another extension. She would sell the antique drafting table if she had to, take smaller jobs, and work longer hours.
Anything but let Vale Studio disappear.
“Ms. Vale.”
Amelia turned.
Evelyn Rowe, director of the Hartwell Foundation, stood at the end of the hall in a deep green dress. She was one of the most influential women in Ashbourne’s development circle.
Amelia straightened. “Ms. Rowe. Good evening.”
“I saw your presentation at the Preservation Council last spring,” Evelyn said. “The converted textile factory project.”
“You were there?”
“I was. You made a strong argument for retaining the original structure.”
“Thank you.”
“The Foundation is considering renovations to one of our community spaces. It’s a small project. Nothing as glamorous as the Mercer Hotel.”
To Amelia, it sounded more glamorous than any ballroom in the city.
“I’d be grateful for the opportunity to discuss it.”
“Send my office your portfolio on Monday.” Evelyn handed her a card. “And Ms. Vale?”
“Yes?”
“Don’t let people like Julian Mercer convince you that scale is the same thing as vision.”
For the first time that night, Amelia smiled without effort. “Thank you.”
Evelyn nodded and returned to the ballroom.
Amelia looked down at the card.
It was not a contract or enough to solve everything, but it was something. The tightness in her chest eased enough for her to breathe.
She decided to leave before she ran into the Mercers again or had to keep pretending their rejection had not hurt.
After collecting her coat, she headed toward the museum’s private exit. The corridor was quieter, lined with abstract paintings and pools of warm light. Her heels clicked against the marble as she hurried toward the cold night air and the privacy of her old car.
“Leaving already?”
Amelia stopped.
At the end of the corridor stood a man in a black tuxedo, one hand in his pocket.
Lucas Hart.
Everyone in Ashbourne knew him—the CEO of Hartwell Group, heir to the family empire, and the severe man whose photograph appeared in business magazines.
Up close, he was even more striking. Tall, broad-shouldered, and dark-haired, with watchful gray eyes fixed on her as if the crowded gala had narrowed to this quiet hallway.
Amelia glanced behind her, certain he was speaking to someone else.
There was no one.
“Yes,” she said. “I was just on my way home.”
Lucas’s gaze moved briefly to the coat she held closed at her throat, then returned to her face.
“I saw what happened with Mercer.”
Mortification rushed back. “You shouldn’t have.”
“Seen it?” His expression did not change. “I did.”
She lifted her chin. “Then you know I’m capable of handling it.”
“I’m sure you are.”
There was no mockery in his voice. Somehow, that unsettled her more.
Lucas took one measured step toward her.
“Stay,” he said.
Amelia’s breath caught.
His eyes held hers.
“Have one drink with me.”

The entire academy was abuzz with excitement; everyone was talking about it.

But only one could truly win her heart.
Moonfire: Betrayed By The Alpha
Alpha Caden Blackwell believed those words would break me. That after three years of marriage marked by silence, humiliation, and quiet rejection, I would fear a life without him.
I did once.
As the Luna of the Shadowcrest Pack, I gave everything to a man my wolf recognized as her mate, enduring whispers, cold stares, and a pack that never truly accepted me. I stayed because I believed love required endurance. Because I believed patience would one day be rewarded.
That belief shattered the night Caden welcomed his former lover back into our home, along with a child he claimed as his heir. It ended the moment his choices nearly cost me my life and the life of one of my unborn pups. Leaving was no longer a matter of pride. It was survival.
Caden does not know the woman who walked away. He still sees the Luna who waited, who forgave, who loved without limits. He does not see Nova Ashton, a woman capable of rebuilding her identity and claiming a future on her own terms.
I will never crawl back.
The Legacy Game
When scholarship student Chris Linds stumbles onto a mystery someone has killed to protect, she becomes the next target. The only person standing between her and death is Ashen Ford, the academy's cold, untouchable Student Council President—and heir to one of Corvain's founding families.
As anonymous invitations summon twelve students into the legendary Legacy Game, alliances fracture, secrets surface, and every challenge brings another deadly truth to light. But the greatest secret isn't who will win.
It's why one winner vanished without a trace... and why someone will do anything to make sure history repeats itself.
Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.
Mated To My Nemesis
Agnes Tremaine arrived in Melbourne with a camera but no backstory in this world. She was meant to document one season. She never realized she was already the blueprint — that the connections, the open doors, and the meticulous arrangements were all built specifically for her, tailored and designed to use her.
Ace had a nine-year revenge in the making. A journalist had destroyed his sister's life and left no fingerprints. Now the man's daughter was standing in his garage with a camera, and Ace had been the one to open the door.
His wolf chooses a mate he never wanted and couldn't shake — not in the paddock, not on the track, not even at 200mph where nothing else had ever followed him before.
For the first time in his life, he couldn't have it all.
GO ON YOUR KNEES, ALPHA.
He was wrong.
Six years ago, Pete Leadsilver had everything an Alpha could want. Power, a respected pack and a future already written for him.
Then he met me.
What began as a game became a mistake I would spend years trying to survive. When I told him I was carrying his child, Pete chose not to believe me. He rejected me, humiliated me, and allowed the people around him to make sure I understood that there was no place for me in his world.
So I disappeared.
I took the secret of my pregnancy with me and built a life far away from the Alpha who had broken me.
Six years later, Pete finds me again. Only this time, he isn't the man with all the power. His pack is dying, his people are running out of time, and I may be the only person capable of saving them.
But I'm no longer the woman Pete remembers. And beside me is a little boy who carries far too much of Pete's face to be a coincidence.
Our reunion should have been about a cure, but instead, it becomes the beginning of a war neither of us saw coming.
Because Pete's greatest danger isn't outside his pack.
It's inside his own family.
Old resentment turns into manipulation. Loyalty becomes betrayal. And the people Pete trusts begin hiding secrets that threaten to destroy everything he's built.
Then someone comes for the people I love.
Suddenly, this is no longer about whether Pete can earn my forgiveness.
It's about whether he can keep me alive.
Whether he can protect the son he never knew existed.
Whether he can uncover the truth before the people closest to him destroy everything he has finally learned to value.
Along the way, we'll lose people we thought would always stand beside us, I'll be forced to confront wounds I've spent six years trying to bury, and the family we're slowly building will be tested in ways neither of us could have imagined.
Because sometimes love isn't the hardest thing to find. Sometimes it's the hardest thing to survive.
Pete once believed power meant never needing anyone and I once believed surviving him meant leaving him behind.
We were both wrong.
Because some bonds refuse to die, some betrayals cut deeper than rejection and some people don't come back into your life to give you a second chance.
They come back to show you exactly what you almost lost.
Pete Leadsilver lost me once.
This time, he'll have to fight to keep the family he never knew he needed.

Right there, on the neck of the man I just risked my soul to save...

Accardi
“I thought you said you were done chasing me?” Gen mocked.
“I am done chasing you.”
Before she could formulate a witty remark, Matteo threw her down. She landed hard on her back atop his dining room table. She tried to sit up when she noticed what he was doing. His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
“You…” she breathed.
Genevieve loses a bet she can’t afford to pay. In a compromise, she agrees to convince any man her opponent chooses to go home with her that night. What she doesn’t realize when her sister’s friend points out the brooding man sitting alone at the bar, is that man won’t be okay with just one night with her. No, Matteo Accardi, Don of one of the largest gangs in New York City doesn’t do one night stands. Not with her anyway.
MOONLIT CHASE
But no, I had to walk through the park at midnight like an idiot. Now I've seen something I can't unsee—a massive black wolf tearing apart three men, then shifting into the hottest guy I've ever laid eyes on.
Kieran Vaughn. Wealthy lawyer, werewolf, and apparently, he thinks I'm his mate.
Here's the problem: I don't do relationships. I definitely don't do supernatural things. I absolutely don't do rich guys who think they can control my life just because their inner wolf has decided I smell like home.
When hunters start targeting me to get to him, Kieran drags me into his pristine penthouse for "protection." Now I'm living with a man who looks at me like I'm his last meal, whose touch sets my skin on fire, and who's barely holding onto his control.
He says everyone he loves dies. I say that's not my problem except it is because I'm falling for this broken, dangerous man and his beast.
And in his world? Love will get you killed.
