You Taught Me Not to Need You

Introduction
When I bought a new dress for the Autumn Gala, I didn't send him pictures and ask which one he liked. When the Moretti family held its annual Winter Gala, I attended alone as Mrs. Moretti. And when the doctors said the bullet fragments lodged beneath my shoulder blade had to come out, I scheduled the surgery by myself.
No call. No text. I didn't even leave him a note.
When Dante heard about the operation from my doctor, his expression hardened. "Why didn't you tell me? Give me the scans. I'll have the clinic rearrange everything."
"There's no need. I can handle it, and you're busy enough as it is."
Silence fell between us.
Two weeks earlier, I'd still been sending him pictures of earrings, asking which pair I should wear to a dinner with the captains. I'd text him during lunch to ask if he'd eaten and stay awake at night until his headlights swept across our windows. Every tiny part of my life used to revolve around my husband. My boss.
But now, when the old wound left me shaking with pain while he patiently listened to my stepsister cry, I didn't say a word.
I didn't tell him I was pregnant either.
Soon, he'd discover one more thing on his own.
I'd left New York for good.
Chapter 1
Dante finally noticed that I'd stopped telling him things.
"Tomorrow morning?" Dr. Whitaker looked up from my chart, sure he'd misheard me. "You don't want to wait a few days? Mr. Moretti gets back tonight. I'm sure he'll want to be here with his wife."
I closed the folder. "You're taking out a few bullet fragments under local anesthetic, not replacing my heart. I've already signed the consent forms."
He kept staring.
Everyone in the Moretti family's circle knew how dependent I'd once been on Dante.
When I sprained my ankle during a security drill, I'd refused treatment until he got out of a meeting with the captains. Once, the metal edge of a folder sliced my finger, and I'd held it up to him until he kissed it better.
So when I said I could manage alone, Dr. Whitaker didn't know what to do with me.
I left his office and stopped dead in the lobby of the family's private clinic.
Dante Moretti had just walked through the front doors, pulling a carry-on behind him. He was broad-shouldered and imposing enough that the younger men in the lobby stepped aside without thinking. One hand rested at my stepsister Vivi's back, steadying her over the two shallow steps as if she might break.
A handmade navy scarf was wrapped around her neck.
I'd knitted it for Dante on our third wedding anniversary.
His gaze landed on the folder in my hand. "Elena? What are you doing here? Is the old wound acting up again?"
Again. Such a small word, yet it made me sound like one more problem waiting on his desk.
The fragments in my shoulder were left over from the night of the ambush, and he knew that. Before I could answer, he took the folder and skimmed the report. "Tomorrow won't work. My schedule is packed. Have them move it to next week."
I pulled the papers out of his hand. "They don't need to work around your schedule. I'll come alone."
Dante blinked.
Two weeks ago, I'd asked whether I should wear red or black to the charity dinner. Now I was having surgery without telling him. If we hadn't run into each other, he might never have known.
As I took a step back, a white prescription box slipped from his coat pocket and hit the floor. The label was for a medication commonly prescribed for severe morning sickness.
Dante snatched it up. "Don't start. Vivi felt sick through the whole flight. I picked it up for her."
Vivi lowered her lashes and clutched the scarf. "I'm sorry, Elena. Dante was supposed to go straight home, but I felt awful. I was scared to come here alone."
Then she gave me a soft, embarrassed smile. "I wish I were as independent as you. Dante wouldn't have to worry about me all the time."
Independent. I almost laughed.
A month earlier, the skin around the fragments had flared up so badly that I woke in the middle of the night unable to move my shoulder. I called Dante, expecting concern. His first words were, "Is it really bad enough to call me right now?"
I told him I didn't know. I was scared, and I wanted my husband to come home.
"Call the doctor, Elena. You're a grown woman, and you're Mrs. Moretti. You can't hand every little problem to me. I'm your husband, not your personal nurse."
Funny how that worked.
The most powerful man in the city had time to solve everyone else's problems, just not his wife's. Yet Vivi only had to whisper that she felt unwell, and he'd drive her straight here from the airport.
Anyone watching them would think the woman wearing his scarf was his wife.
The old me would've demanded an explanation. I would've cried, fought, and made him prove that box of medicine meant nothing.
This time, I only nodded. "Got it." There were no accusations, no jealousy, and no tears.
Dante still didn't know about the tiny heartbeat inside me.
And our baby would never grow up hearing me beg his father to come home.
He'd grow up with me, somewhere far from New York.

The crowd gasped as Lex pulled me into a more intimate position, his hands roaming over my body in a seductive manner.
The experience was both terrifying and magical, allowing me to feel every longing emotion through the dance.
I soon found myself lost in his arms.
When the music finally stopped, my arms were wrapped around his neck, his hands resting on my back, our noses almost touching. He gazed deeply into my eyes.
The ballroom fell silent.
Was he about to kiss me?

Taste of Fate: The Vampire King's Human Mate
He reached for the back of my head and pulled me up just enough to reach my neck. When his fangs slid into me, the pain was instant, electric. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think. My hands found his shoulders, clawing for something to hold. My legs kicked. Tears streamed down my cheeks.
He moaned against my throat as he drank, and the sound was devastating.

My Billionaire Husband's Secret
He was the CEO of the Blackwood Group — a man whose wealth and power eclipsed ninety-nine percent of the world.
He was gentle. Romantic. Attentive. I fell for him fast.
But a year into our marriage, I began to notice something — a pattern.
Lucas's sexual appetite was intense — he wanted me almost every night. Yet every single month, he arranged a solo trip to send me away. I told myself it was his way of spoiling me.
Then a message arrived from someone called Sweet An.
Do you really know your husband?
From that day on, my life filled with shadows.
I suspected my husband of having an affair.
When Lucas and I made love, something felt wrong — his body too large, too much, like something I couldn't explain.
I heard sounds during sex — animal sounds, like something feral had crawled into bed with us.
My best friend Mia said: "There are men sick enough to let dogs fuck their wives."
The family doctor, Daisy, told me: "You could never stay by Lucas's side forever. Your background doesn't make you worthy of being his wife. Do you understand?"
I went looking for whoever had been tearing my marriage apart. I fought to win my husband back.
But the deeper I searched, the larger the secret grew — something far darker hiding beneath this supposed betrayal.
Does Lucas truly love me?
And why, out of everyone in the world, did he choose to marry me?

The Lycan Kings and the White Wolf.
Love's Deadly Equation
I was sent to her.
To watch her. To protect her. And, when the order comes… to kill her.
My name is Keegan Caffery. I’m the Carter Mafia’s best hitman. I don’t miss. I don’t fail.
At least, I didn’t use to.
I don’t know what it is about her that got to me first—her mouth, her mind, or the way she looks at me like I’m not what she should fear.
I’ve had a gun to her head since I walked into her life.
She knows it.
And she still doesn’t run.
She just watches me back like she’s studying a problem she refuses to call impossible.
She’s the one variable I can’t control.
And God help me… I don’t want to.
I have an order. I have loyalty. I have a trigger.
But every time I imagine it—
I can’t stand it.
Her or me. That’s the math.
It’s a deadly equation I don’t want to solve.
⬥ Maisie ⬥
I’m not ordinary. I stopped pretending long ago.
My name is Maisie Seo. IQ 145. Clinical genius.
Which sounds impressive until you realize what it actually means: I don’t fit anywhere people expect me to.
I see patterns everywhere. Outcomes before they happen. People like equations I’ve already solved.
It gets lonely in a world you’ve already figured out.
So I dull myself down. Smoke the edges off. Pretend, badly, to be the kind of normal that lets people stay.
Then he walked in.
I knew what he was immediately. Dangerous. Intentional. Wrong in all the right ways.
I should be afraid of him.
I keep waiting for that to kick in.
Instead, I’m fascinated.
Because for the first time in my life… I’ve found something I can’t solve.
He is my deadly equation.
Filled, Owned, and Fucked by My Best Friend’s Father
He was supposed to be off-limits. Untouchable. The kind of man you only fantasize about when you’re alone in the dark with your hand between your thighs.
But the night I caught him eating another woman alive by the pool, I couldn’t look away.
And he knew it.
The moment his dark eyes locked on mine through the glass, I became prey. His filthy smirk promised one thing—he saw me touching myself to him, and he wasn’t about to let me forget it.
Now, every time I’m in his house, I can’t breathe without thinking of his mouth between my legs.
I left my cheating boyfriend behind, only to fall into something even more dangerous:
a man who could ruin me, break me, and make me beg for his cock while his own daughter sleeps in the next room.
He’s too old. Too powerful. Too forbidden.
But Gianni doesn’t ask—he takes.
And I don’t want him to stop.
