Chapter 1
Screams echoed in the empty mansion, a storm raging, winds howling, and the shy thundering with anger and rage. this was not right, not in the slightest, not when the future of the entire species depends on it.
The Gods were angry, that was a given.
This is not the time that the queen wanted her child to be born, she wanted him to enter this world with the sun shining down on him with its soft rays and birds chirping happily, and the whole mansion would celebrate the birth of their king with love, but there are some things that not even The Kings and Queens can control.
The wailing Queen cried out in pain, praying this torture would end and she can finally hold her baby in her arms. The King was by her side, helping her by just staying by her side. he held her hand kissing her forehead whispering encouragement in her ears hoping to ease her pain by holding her arms praying that he could somehow, transfer all that pain to himself.
Doctors and Nurses littered the place, running around doing things they were supposed to, they did everything in their power to help deliver the baby, as much as they hate to do this, they had to do it. they look at each other having a silent conversation amount themselves as to why the baby wasn't here yet, or what it shouldn't be here, they didn't let out a peep fearing the wrath of their king.
"Lucian, please promise me something," the queen begged, holding her husband's hand, she had a sheen layer of perspiration on her beautiful face, the king who was a husband right about now, leaned forward to kiss his wife's hand
"Anything, my love," he assured her looking at her with deep love and affection
she swallows a scream as the labor pain hit her ten times harder, the kid was on a warpath, and its first victim was his mother " Promise me you will love our son, just the way you love me, and" ahhh she screamed painfully before she could complete her sentence " promise me you won't believe the superstition that is going around about our son, promise me," she begged him to accept her wishes, hoping he would value it above everything.
"I promise you, my love, we will together raise this child with love and care and won't let anything ever happen to him, as long as we both shall live," he kissed her head with admiration at this moment of life and death her only worry was her unborn child.
The queen gave out another heart-wrenching scream that enhanced the volume of the thundering bombardment. as time passed the shield of silence was shattered with a cry of a baby, an innocent-looking infant crying its heart out, the doctors and nurses held the beautiful wailing baby in their arms as they cut the umbilical cord, and clean the bloody baby.
"It's a boy, my Highness" the doctor announced with a fake smile but the new parents didn't care about that, not a lot of people liked children, who will rule over them someday.
The King looked at his spent wife, tired, and yet she had this warm smile on her face that boosted his pride, he leaned down to kiss his wife on her lips only this time they didn't respond, his heart broke at the sight of his still wife.
He let out a cry, his inner wolf howled in pain at the loss of his soulmate, he whimpered and wailed at his loss, he held the corpse of his mate and cried like a baby, only then did he realize that he had a son as well.
He called out to the doctor who was too quiet for his liking, "Where is my son?" he growled at the empty cradle, he might be in pain but he knew he was yet to be handed his child, which the doctor failed to do so.
"My King, the baby is weak his lungs are failing, some of our best doctors are working hard to help him" the doctor stuttered but she seemed to be more nervous than scared.
"Help him, do whatever you can, and save my son," he ordered the shivering doctor, she nodded her head and left the room only for it to fill with an air of sadness.
He held his dead wife in his arms and pulled her closer kissing her head " I promise you, my love, he will be loved and respected, and one day he will rule this world as one of the greatest kings, anyone has ever seen," he let his wife go after placing one last kiss, this was a goodbye.
He walked into the ICU for infants only to see his boy be attached to life support, the sight pained him to the next level, the loss of his wife hadn't fully hit him yet, and he wasn't ready to lose his son as well.
"My King?" the five feet something doctor called out to the six feet something pureblood werewolf. she was scared to announce the next news she had discovered
"What is it?" he asked not losing sight of his son, he might be small and premature but he was a sight to be held, a true beauty just like his mother.
"We found something about the prince, my King, I don't think you will like it," she said not looking at his face but rather the white tiles.
The King had been preparing for this day, he knew the risks of having the baby, so that was the reason he had converted the entire floor of his mansion into a hospital so that his wife and child wouldn't have to go away for treatment
"Just tell me, I don't desire you to sugar coat it as well, say what you have to say," he stood there looking at his son not spearing the doctor as a single glance
"My King, I'm afraid you will not like this news," she paused but the pause didn't receive any response "he is born without a wolf my lord, he is born with a beast,"

It was meant to destroy me.
So I ran. Not to fulfill some destiny, but to survive it.
Now I'm traveling with a hunter who lost his companions to the same curse I carry, chasing fragments of a prophecy the Fae sing differently. An elf took a baby from the palace the night I was born. And somewhere between the lies I've been told and the truth I'm hunting, I'm starting to suspect: What if I'm not the princess from the prophecy at all?

He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
