Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Arianna’s POV
Beep! Beep! Beep!
The sound of my alarm going off. Getting up in the morning is never easy, especially when I get these horrible headaches. Also, I have never been a morning person, but I know if I don’t get up soon I’m going to hear it from my father.
Finally, after shutting off my alarm, I walked towards the bathroom and saw how terrible I looked. Ugh! I knew I should’ve gone to bed early, but I was so busy helping with decorating, I couldn’t.
After getting washed up and dressed, I went downstairs to the smell of breakfast being made. I see Marie, my stemother, cooking the eggs while trying not to burn the tortillas on the stove. She had the bacon and the sausage sitting on the counter just waiting for everyone to come and grab them. I can hear my stomach growling, I didnt know it could growl that loud.
“Good morning Aria! Hurry up and sit down, grab it while it’s hot.” She smiles as she hands me a plate of eggs. “Are you excited about tonight, Mom?” “ Yes I am.” She squealed.
“How about you?” She asks. “Of course I am”, I try to say with food in my mouth.
“Mommy!” I heard my little sister, Isabella, call out. “Would you mind getting your sister ready? I want to finish cooking.” Yeah, I replied. Going up stairs, opening my sister’s door, she sat on the bed with her shirt stuck on her head. I burst out laughing as I tried to get it off of her. “Where’s mom?” Isabella asked. "She’s still cooking breakfast but I can help you get dressed, okay?"
"Okay!" she said acting all cute.
After 20 minutes of trying to find a cute outfit for my 4-year-old sister, we headed back downstairs and got her a plate of food. Marie was on the couch trying to relax but got up once she heard us coming back down. “Good morning my princess!” Isabella with a big smiles on her face, runs into her arms and laughs as Marie spins her around. She must be very exhausted from planning the party and now cooking, I would've just slept in and gotten some sleep.
“I’m glad to see my girls up and all looking so beautiful.” My dad says as he walks in the door with my brother behind him. “For you, my love.” my dad says as he hands her a dozen roses. “Aw Damian they are so beautiful, thank you!” My siblings and I smile at them. I admire how much the mate bond is so strong between them.
I'm 17 and with my birthday coming up in a few weeks I'll be able to find my mate. I’ve always dreamed about how my mate would be with me and, if it’s anything like how my parents bond is, I will be so grateful. I'll also have my graduation coming up. I’m just so excited for the next few months to go by. My brothe,r Nathaniel and I are so happy our dad found Marie.
Our mother died when I was 9 and he was 11. She and dad were helping out our pack when we were ambushed by rogues trying to take out our Alpha and Luna. Mom died protecting Luna Ivy. Dad wasn't able to get mom in time. He held her body while everyone else took care of the rogues. Dad went into a deep depression and wasn’t himself for a long time. He knew he had to be strong for us, dealing with my mom's death and being the Beta of our pack. I don’t know how he ever did it. After 3 years, my dad found Marie at a party our Alpha was hosting. My dad got lucky in having a second chance mate. They got married not long after meeting each other. Nathaniel and I were a bit nervous and worried about Marie being our new mom. We heard about stepmoms and how they were cruel to children that weren’t biologically theirs, but Marie was different and wanted to show how much she cared about us. She showed us that will love us no matter what. She always wanted to be a mother. A year later, Marie had Isabella and I was so happy to have a baby sister. Nathaniel wanted a brother but he got over it and now has another sister to love and protect.
“Earth to Arianna.” My dad called out to me as I woke out of my trance. "Yeah dad," I replied. “We have a few last minute decorating to do and then you can go.” “Okay sounds good. I want to squeeze by my class before y’all’s Anniversary Party.” I said.
As my dad, Nathaniel and I headed out the door to the pack house, we saw everyone also helping out with decorations and setting up tables, placing the centerpieces, wrapping the chairs with covers and tying ribbons on the backs. Once we got inside, we got straight to work putting up pictures of the happy couple, then blowing up balloons to make a balloon arch.
After we got done, I said goodbye to my brother and my dad as I ran to the elementary school.
As I got to the school, I tried to make myself look decent, and hopefully, I wasn’t too late for class. I knocked and Ms. Torres opens the door with a stern look on her face. “I know I’m late, I had to help my parents with decorating”. I pleaded to her. She chuckles as she opens the door. “Hi Teacher Aria” all my students say as I come in. “Good morning everyone, I’m sorry I’m late, but I’m here now, so let’s get started on learning.” I'm so glad I'm able to get to be with my students today. I know when I'm done with school, I want to be a teacher and help kids learn new things.
