Introduction

For fifty years, I bathed in blood for my world, only to return home to find my wife dead and my daughter about to be sacrificed.
The High Priest stepped on my daughter’s head, branding me a traitor, and declared he would burn her to ashes. Scarred, broken, and with my magic depleted, I was bound to the pyre alongside her. Tens of thousands cursed us from below as the flames engulfed the stage.
Weeping, my daughter asked me, "Daddy, are you really a hero?"
I crushed the pendant on my chest.
Dragons, Dwarves, Berserkers—the million-strong allied army I had united over those fifty years descended across dimensions.
The High Priest slumped to the ground, trembling uncontrollably. "Who... who exactly are you?"
Staring into his eyes, I said only one thing:
"Dragons have reverse scales; touch them, and you die. You crossed the line!"

Chapter 1

After being away from the Elven City for fifty years, the wind in the air still carried the familiar scent of morning dew.

I stepped onto the pristine white cobblestones, my tattered hood fluttering in the breeze to reveal the light armor beneath, caked in dark, dried blood.

"Oh gods, where did this beggar come from? Are the guards not going to do anything about this?"

"Stay away from him, hereeks. How could such a filthy creature exist in the Elven realm?"

A few young elves passing by pinched their noses, their eyes filled with undisguised disgust.

I ignored them.

After slaughtering the Demon King's army in the void turbulence for fifty relentless years, my mana had long run dry, and my body was broken beyond measure. But so what?

I won.

I personally severed the Demon King's head, burying those monsters in the void forever.

Now, all I wanted to do was go home. I wanted to hold my wife, and the half-elf daughter I had to leave behind the very day she was born, Ereven.

Whatever these sheltered flowers who had never seen a drop of blood thought of me didn't matter.

Relying on my memory, I pushed open the door to my home.

Creak—

The harsh sound of friction shattered the dead silence.

There was no warm light. There was no gentle call from my wife.

The air only held the heavy, stagnant smell of dust.

My heart clenched, and I quickly stepped into the hall.

The house was empty, the furniture covered in a thick layer of ash.

My gaze instantly froze on the table—sitting there was a black-and-white memorial portrait of my wife.

She had passed away?

Fifty years was the absolute limit of a human lifespan. In the end, I had returned too late.

It felt as if an invisible hand was brutally squeezing my heart. Trembling, I walked toward the table and noticed a freshly written letter pinned beneath the portrait.

The handwriting was unfamiliar to me.

[Father, I do not blame you. Mother said you are a hero. In the final moments of my life, I am thinking of you...]

The final moments of her life?!

Boom!

My mind went entirely blank. An unprecedented wave of terror instantly swallowed me whole.

Even when facing tens of thousands of demons in the abyss, I had never felt this kind of fear.

This was left by my daughter, Ereven!

Something had happened to her!

I rushed out the door like a madman, violently crashing into a neighbor walking past.

"Are you blind, you filthy beggar?! Do you have any idea how much my robes cost..."

Before he could finish his arrogant curse, I grabbed him by the throat and slammed him mercilessly against the cold stone wall.

Bang!

"Ghk... Let... let go..." His feet dangled in the air, his face instantly turning a deep purple.

I stared dead into his eyes. Without a single word of nonsense, I unleashed the terrifying, materialized killing intent I had tempered in mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

"Where is my daughter, Ereven?" My voice sounded as if it had crawled out from the deepest depths of hell, bearing an irresistible aura of death. "Speak one word of nonsense, and I will snap your neck."

It was a murderous aura born from truly slaughtering millions.

The arrogance in the neighbor's eyes instantly collapsed. He finally recognized me. "A-Arion?! Didn't you defect to the Demon King?!"

His surprise morphed into sheer terror, and his body began to tremble violently, completely out of his control.

"Don't kill me... please! She... she was taken!" he struggled frantically to squeeze out the words. "Today is the Blood Sun Festival... High Priest Kalad announced that Ereven carries the bloodline of a sinner! She is to be offered as a sacrifice to the Blood Sun!"

The Blood Sun Festival? A sacrifice?!

I ruthlessly threw him to the ground.

That religious fraud, Kalad—how dare he touch my bloodline!

Fifty years ago, he was the one who cut off the spatial portal from the rear, causing the allied armies of the various races to plunge into the void turbulence.

And now, not only had he usurped a position of high power, but he was going to sacrifice my daughter as a sinner!

Ooooom—!

Just then, a deep, resonant horn echoed from the center of the Royal City.

The sacrificial ritual had begun.

I turned my head toward the altar, my eyes entirely bloodshot.

The peace I fought to secure for the elves ends here!

Kalad, you'd better pray my daughter is still unharmed.

Otherwise, I will make sure you die without a burial place!

I shattered the stone paving beneath my feet and bolted toward the festival plaza at blinding speed.
