Falling for the devil doesn’t just burn you—it brands you for life.
Chapter 1
Isla’s POV
The large ballroom towered in front of me, its glittering chandeliers casting gold light through the windows. Different types of luxury cars I had only seen in a movie pulling up behind me.
Diamonds dripped from the wrists and throats of women walking past me, each one of them dressed in gowns that looked like they belonged in a museum, not human skin.
And me?
I just stood there, adjusting a trembling hand down the cheap dress I wore tonight, the silk protesting against the strain of the night. It was a little too short, the satin a little too fake.
Why did you have to wear this cheap dress to this type of event, Isla? Just make sure you don’t look like prey. Don’t look like a prey tonight.
One wrong mistake and I would find myself in bed with one of these perverts who would do anything for a tight pu**y.
I murmured to myself as I handed over my invitation card to one of the guards for the event and forced my chin up. He scanned from head to toe…. Trying to fake a polite smile as if people like me belonged here.
But I could still catch the twitch at the corner of his mouth. This is your chance, Isla. Smile. Don’t mess this up. I exhaled, stepping inside the grand ballroom that was alive with the kind of luxury I’d only seen on TV. Champagne flowed like water, and violins played from the corner.
Dangerous murmurs and laughter among clusters of men in tailored suits, every one of their gazes on me sharp as glass. “Make connections, Isla. One conversation tonight could change your future.” Professor Calloway’s words echoed in my head.
Future. That word tasted more like desperation in my mouth. A year's worth of tuition and rent clung to my shoulders, I couldn’t afford to mess this up tonight.
I put on my brightest smile, gripping my cheap clutch bag like it was worth something, and began to weave through the crowd.
My eyes were looking for any familiar face that I could recognize from the lists I had researched obviously online.
But instead of names and faces, I felt eyes everywhere. Men with cigar-stained fingers and expensive watches looking at me like I was a lamb that had wandered into a pack of wolves.
I tugged at the neckline of my dress, praying the heat flushing down my cheeks wasn’t visible. Then the air shifted.
It wasn’t just me. The entire room felt it as a ripple of silence spread like a wave through the crowd. Glasses lowered, heads turning while whispers grew even louder. Sharper this time, slicing through the air.
And then I saw him.
He didn’t walk, he commanded. Every step as he made his way into the ballroom drawing the air tighter around him, bending the room to his control.
The black suit he wore wasn't just tailored…it was sculpted to match perfectly with his physique, his hugging shoulders broad enough to block the light.
I should have looked away. I should have joined the others in their hushed whispers. But my eyes betrayed me even more, lingering on the sharp line of his jaw, the way his lips curved into the faintest smirk. Like he knew every secret in this room.
Who is he?
I didn’t know him. Yet something about the way he moved—confident, dangerous drew me even more to him. The longer I stared, the harder it became to breathe. As if every nerve in my body was aware of him, even across the ballroom.
The strangest, most terrifying part?
I wanted him to notice me.
I wanted him to look at me as if I were the only reason he was here tonight. But there was no chance for me tonight. Ladies gasped and parted their lips in shock as he strode past them.
As if they were willing to give up everything just to have a one-night stand with him, just for him to notice or even spare them a glance.
He moved through the crowd as if the ground itself bent to his will. His dark hair was slicked back with an effortless arrogance.
God!! He is so damn handsome.
Look away, Isla. This type of man would never even look at you. I told myself, but those eyes of his….ice-grey, sweeping the room with quiet command.
I swallowed hard, forcing my gaze away. I couldn’t be one of those girls… the ones whose jaws dropped and eyes went dreamy anytime they saw a handsome and charming man.
His eyes caught mine in an instant and I turned, reminding myself about the reason why I was here in the first place.
Focus, Isla. Find an investor. A sponsor. Anyone but…
My heel snagged on the carpet before I could finish the words. I stumbled forward, the stem of my glass slipping from my fingers. Red wine lifted, a glittery showcase in the chandelier light, before splattering across a wall of black clothing.
Broad shoulders. Perfectly cut suit.
Oh ... oh my god. It was him.
The stranger l had been admiring for the past minutes. The sound of my gasp punched the silence first, the murmurs sliced through, quick and sharp.
Heat crawled up my neck as I watched the stain splatter across his chest, bleeding against fabric worth more than my tuition fee for a year. I froze, parting my lips to say something before he unleashes his fury on me.
But then he looked at me.
Those grey eyes, sharp as a blade, locked angrily onto mine. The weight of his stare pinning me where I stood, stealing every word, every apology, and scrap of air from my lungs.
Oh God.
What the hell have you done, Isla?

On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

Why does being near him make my skin feel too tight, like I’m wearing a sweater two sizes too small?

I’m not going to let one cold stare undo that.

Entitled.
Delicate.

Still.

Neither does the memory of Tyler. Leaving her here without a second thought.
I shouldn’t care.
I don’t care.

Even worse was overhearing Darrell laugh to his friends: "She's useful—obedient, doesn't cause trouble, handles housework, and I can fuck her whenever I need relief. She's basically a live-in maid with benefits." He made crude thrusting gestures, sending his friends into laughter.
In despair, Sable left, reclaimed her true identity, and married her childhood neighbor—Lycan King Caelan, nine years her senior and her fated mate. Now Darrell desperately tries to win her back. How will her revenge unfold?

The Human Among Wolves
My stomach twisted, but he wasn’t finished.
"You're just a pathetic little human," Zayn said, his words deliberate, each one hitting like a slap. "Spreading your legs for the first guy who bothers to notice you."
Heat rushed to my face, burning with humiliation. My chest ached — not from his words alone, but from the sick realization that I had trusted him. That I had let myself believe he was different.
I was so, so stupid.

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."

The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride
Yet Alexander made his decision clear to the world: “Evelyn is the only woman I will ever marry.”
I Slapped My Fiancé—Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis
Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now—billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn’t mind. I’d crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one?
Wrong.
One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That’s when it hit me—he didn’t love me. He didn’t even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn’t even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup.
So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster—my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise.
Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol.
Enter him.
Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I’d met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes.
It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised.
But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life.
And, as it turned out, the best decision I’d ever made.
Because my one-night stand isn’t just some random guy. He’s richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with.
And now, he’s not letting me go.
Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
