Introduction
The same day I discovered I was pregnant for the fifth time.
I used to believe he was my protector.
This time, I gathered proof of everything he’d done and made sure the truth destroyed him before I started my new life.
Chapter 1
In the seven years of my secret marriage, I had lost four babies, each pregnancy ending in heartbreak before the second trimester.
Damian Harper was devastated by my repeated losses and paid for the best fertility specialists in the country to help us, he promised me over and over that we would eventually have a healthy baby together.
The day I discovered I was pregnant for the fifth time, I decided to surprise Damian at home with a special dinner, I spent the entire afternoon cooking his favorite meal and setting up candles.
When I heard his car pull into the driveway earlier than expected, I quickly hid in our bedroom to wait for the perfect moment to surprise him, but then I heard another voice, his business partner Victor Adams had come inside with him and they were talking in the living room directly below our bedroom where the air vent carried their voices clearly upward.
“You paid doctors to induce Aria Harper’s miscarriages and gave the fetal tissue to Vivian Lane for her research experiments, do you realize how disturbed that is, those were your own children.”
Damian sounded completely casual.
“Vivian’s research on regenerative medicine needs human specimens and I had access to them, she’s going to revolutionize healthcare and I’m proud to support her work however I can.”
Victor’s voice was thick with disgust. “Support her work, you murdered your own children and treated them like laboratory samples.”
Damian laughed. “Murdered is dramatic, the marriage certificate I showed Aria is fake anyway, I had it printed at a copy shop, any pregnancy was meaningless since I would never legally acknowledge those children, Vivian is the only woman I’ll ever actually marry.”
I felt the floor disappear beneath me, our entire marriage was a lie, the man I trusted with everything was something inhuman.
—————————
Victor pressed him. “Then why marry Aria at all, why waste seven years of her life if Vivian was always your endgame.”
Damian smirked. “Vivian needed to complete her fellowship program overseas and I needed someone local, Aria was a virgin when I met her so she was easy to manipulate with romance and fake promises, plus having a ‘wife’ at home meant I didn’t have to worry about picking up anything from random hookups.”
He kept going without pause. “The pregnancies were convenient too, I refuse to use protection and she desperately wanted to be a mother, letting her get pregnant kept her happy and distracted, and obviously I made sure none of them actually survived to term.”
Victor sounded horrified. “You deceived her for seven years, let her bond with four pregnancies knowing you’d destroy them, and you’re planning to just abandon her, she’s completely devoted to you.”
Damian groaned with impatience. “She was some small-town girl with nothing, I gave her a mansion and a luxury lifestyle she never earned, she should be grateful.”
Then his mood shifted to excitement. “Next week Vivian and I are getting married in the Maldives, you better show up and bring an expensive gift.”
Victor replied grimly. “You’re making a terrible mistake, when you destroy someone who loved you that unconditionally, it destroys you too eventually.”
Damian scoffed. “Vivian is worth anything, I’d burn my whole life down just to make her happy, save the sentimental lectures.”
Victor went quiet.
I stood frozen in our bedroom, my hand pressed over my mouth to keep from making any sound, the joy from discovering my pregnancy had turned into pure horror, then I heard footsteps on the stairs and realized Damian was coming up, I rushed into our bathroom and splashed cold water on my face trying to hide the evidence of my tears.
When I emerged, Damian was standing in our bedroom doorway watching me with concern.
“Aria, are you alright, your eyes are red.”
His voice sounded genuinely caring.
I forced a bright smile. “I was chopping onions for dinner and got some juice in my eyes, it’s still burning a little.”
He visibly relaxed before crossing the room to embrace me, he kissed my forehead gently. “You work too hard taking care of me, you’re everything to me, the most precious person in my life.”
His words were sweet and convincing, but they were completely hollow now.
Once I had believed he was my soulmate, when I had first started at his company after graduating, senior staff had sabotaged my projects and spread rumors about me, Damian had defended me publicly and made me feel protected, but now I saw the truth, he was a monster who had orchestrated my suffering, and I was the idiot who fell for every lie.
Damian pulled back slightly to look at my face, his thumb gently wiping away a tear I hadn’t realized had fallen.
“Aria, are you sure you’re okay, you seem different tonight.”
Before I could answer, his phone buzzed on the nightstand.
I saw Vivian’s name flash across the screen with a message preview that made my stomach drop.
[The wedding planner needs your final approval on the Paris venue by midnight, should I confirm the cathedral or the beach ceremony?]
Damian’s eyes went wide as he lunged for the phone, but I had already seen it.
I looked up at him slowly and whispered. “Damian, whose wedding are you planning in Paris?.”

"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
My nightgown had ridden up, his hands discovering more of mine with each caress. We were both lost in sensation, rational thought receding with each passing second...

George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
