Chapter 1
PROLOGUE
Ryland “Ry” Guyer’s head hurt. He squeezed his eyes tightly together, but that didn’t stop him from feeling as if a figure skater were landing a triple axel on his skull, the blade slicing into his brain with talented precision.
How much had he drunk last night?
He rolled over in bed.
His
bed, he hoped.
Unsure of the time and where he was, Ry forced open his heavy eyelids. The light hurt, a hammer-slamming-against-his-forehead kind of pain, but the ceiling wasn’t spinning. The walls didn’t move, either. Both were good signs. This wouldn’t be a bad hangover.
He smiled. Didn’t hurt. Another plus.
A white sheet covered him. No blankets, but he might have kicked them off. He didn’t remember undressing or going to bed, but he often didn’t after a night of partying.
Ry rose up on his elbows.
Sunlight streamed in through a crack in the curtains. He recognized the hotel room—his. A bag lay on the floor. His US Ski Team jacket hung on a chair.
Satisfaction filled him. He’d earned his place on the team. He was twenty-three with a silver and a bronze medal from the recent Winter Games in Sochi. His parents and their wealth hadn’t made that happen. He had, with sweat, hard work, and a touch of luck. Nothing could take away his accomplishments.
Whoa.
He did a double take.
Who was the cute girl asleep in the other chair?
She seemed familiar as did the clothes she wore. He squinted. The long-sleeved T-shirt and sweatpants belonged to him but looked better on her.
Hot.
Too bad he didn’t remember her name or fooling around with her last night.
No problem. He would make up for the lost memories with a not-so-lazy morning in bed. After he brushed his teeth. His mouth tasted like he’d been sucking on a skater’s sweaty foot.
He got out of bed and stretched.
“You’re awake,” a soft, feminine voice said.
Ry faced her. “So are you.”
Her dark-blond hair fell past her shoulders. A charming pink colored her cheeks. Pretty brown eyes stared at him with adoration.
Ry’s chest puffed with pride. He loved being someone’s idol. Not wanting to disappoint her, he flashed a smile, his most charming one. “Good morning.”
“Feel okay?” she asked, sounding concerned.
“Not too worse for the wear.” He’d feel better once she was no longer wearing his clothes and in his bed. “Give me a minute. I’ll be good to go again.”
She stood. “Again?”
She might appear innocent, but she wouldn’t be in his room the next morning if she didn’t know how this worked. His clothes hung on her, but underneath had to be a tight body meant just for him. “You, me, between the sheets.”
Her eyes widened. She took a deep breath, giving him a better view of her chest.
He might have been drunk, but he’d chosen wisely. He tried to remember her name. One popped into his tired brain. “Brittany from the C team, right?”
She shook her head. “Brynn. D team.”
Cool. He’d scored a development babe who could be a future alpine star.
“Sorry. A little hung over. I’m Ry. A team. But you probably know that.” No worries about calling her Brittany. By the time sweet Brynn left his room, she would forget he hadn’t known her name. “While I’m in the bathroom, get out of those clothes and into bed. We can get reacquainted.”
Her mouth parted.
Nice lips. Kissable lips. Ones he wanted to taste and savor since he didn’t remember their kisses from last night. “Be right back, Brynn.”
See, he knew her name.
Damp clothes hung on the shower curtain rod. He and Brynn must have taken a walk or been rolling around in the snow. Not surprising. He breathed easier outside. Didn’t matter if he was sober or drunk. Alone or with a beautiful woman.
On a mountain, Ry knew his purpose. No one was forcing him into a life he didn’t want. He couldn’t say that at his father’s outdoor apparel company.
After Ry finished in the bathroom, he opened the door, eager to join Brynn in bed. “Ready?”
No answer.
“Don’t be shy.”
Silence.
“Brynn?”
He went around the corner. What the…?
The bed was empty. So was the chair.
And the room.
Weird. This wasn’t normal. Usually, he had to kick out women. She must have gotten enough sex last night. Too bad he didn’t remember because it was the quieter ones who always surprised him.
No big deal. Ry crawled into bed and pulled up the sheet. It was Brynn’s loss for not wanting to go another round with him, but he hoped she returned his clothes and had taken nothing else from his room. He never wanted to find his stuff for sale on eBay again.
He’d learned the hard way that women weren’t interested in love. They wanted a payout and would do anything to get one. Even if it meant lying and stealing and breaking hearts.
His heart.
Never again.
He took what women offered, never looking forward to the future or back into the past. Living in the present was the best way not to get hurt again.

I Died While They Threw Her a Party
Their real daughter came home. She'd only been back two years. That's all it took to erase twenty-four.
When kidnappers grabbed us, I used my body as a shield. They beat me until something inside me ruptured. I was dying from internal bleeding, but no one could tell.
My parents wouldn't even look at me. "This is your fault! None of this would've happened if it weren't for you!"
"Get downstairs and apologize to your sister. If you can't, pack your things and get out."
They threw her a party at a downtown hotel while I died alone in my room.
I thought they'd be relieved. Maybe even glad. I thought they'd just move on like I never existed.
But when they finally learned the truth, they fell apart.
Bury Me in His Regret
The kidnapper pressed the gun to my temple and asked, "Choose your wife or your sister-in-law?"
Zachary didn't hesitate. "Let Valerie go," he said.
He actually chose to save his sister-in-law! In that moment, even the baby in my belly seemed to stop kicking.
Later, they locked me in the basement. Drugs to delay labor were pumped into my veins over and over. Zachary wanted to save the "firstborn son" status for his sister-in-law's child.
When warm blood finally soaked through my skirt, I dialed the number I knew by heart with shaking hands.
"Zachary," I whispered into the phone, "our child... can't wait any longer."
The Kidney That Killed Me
A few months ago, my sister was hospitalized with kidney failure. The doctor said she needed a transplant. My family's first thought was me—the backup daughter they'd kept around all these years.
When my husband Allen took my hand with tears in his eyes and said, "Only you can save her," I agreed without hesitation.
When the doctor explained the surgical risks and potential complications, I smiled and nodded my understanding.
My parents said I'd finally learned what sisterly love meant.
Even Allen, who'd always been cold to me, held my hand gently and said, "The surgery's safe. You're so healthy, nothing will go wrong. When you recover, I'll take you to Hawaii."
But they don't know that no matter how the surgery goes, I won't be around to celebrate.
Because I just got my own test results—I have terminal brain cancer. I'm going to die anyway.
After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
From first crush to wedding vows, George Capulet and I had been inseparable. But in our seventh year of marriage, he began an affair with his secretary.
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."
Alpha Nicholas's Little Mate
What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.
My mate sees me and runs.

Shattered Girl
“I’m sorry, sweetheart. Was that too much?” I could see the worry in his eyes as I took a deep breath.
“I just didn’t want you to see all my scars,” I whispered, feeling ashamed of my marked body.

Oops, Wrong Girl to Bully
My back hit the desk. Pain exploded through my skull.
"Girls like you don't get to dream about guys like Kai." Bella's breath was hot on my face. "You don't get to write pathetic love letters."
She shoved me again. Harder.
"Maybe if you weren't such a desperate little—"
I fell. My head cracked against the corner.
Warmth trickled down my neck. Blood.
Their laughter turned to gasps.
The door slammed.
I tried to stand. Couldn't. The room was spinning, fading to black.
Someone... please...

The Pack: Rule Number 1 - No Mates
"Let me go," I whimper, my body trembling with need. "I don't want you touching me."
I fall forward onto the bed then turn around to stare at him. The dark tattoos of Domonic's chiseled shoulders, quiver and and expand with the heave of his chest. His deep dimpled smile is full of arrogance as he reaches behind himself to lock the door.
Biting his lip, he stalks toward me, his hand going to the seam of his pants and the thickening bulge there.
"Are you sure you don't want me to touch you?" He whispers, untying the knot and slipping a hand inside. "Because I swear to God, that is all I have been wanting to do. Every single day from the moment you stepped in our bar and I smelled your perfect flavor from across the room."
